Have all/most of the flash designers on this site really paid $1500 to buy Adobe CS4/$600 to buy CS4 Flash??

That seems like a heck of a lot of money to just make some flash movies...

I'm thinking of learning how to make flash but I don't have that much money to spend on it...! Am I screwed? Or is there another option (besides 30 day trial...if I use it I want to use it for more than 30 days T_T lol)

Support a local composer. All you need to contribute is $10.00 per hour, for sixty years.
Or, you could just visit a profile page and rate/review stuff. Hint-ety hint hint.

A lot of people have the former version,so they can upgrade for like $200 or something...not full price, but still kind of expensive.

You could always try buying an older version of flash, many of which are still available used.

Or you could try to find a student discount at a college campus. Many colleges sell discounted software to their students, and if you don't go to college, you can find a friend who is. I bought Studio 8 for $106 at a college bookstore a few years ago, and it's probably the best purchase I ever made.

Wow, at that price I feel like I'd be robbing someone. It's a ****ing great steal man. I just wish there's a reliable place near mine to buy used full license software. I'm not buying at eBay, since there's 99.99% that they'd sell me a fake one.

You really have no idea, do you? There's a thing called seller's feedback. If they have good feedback, 99.9% of the time the seller is a good seller and will sell you the correct program.

Too bad feedback can be fabricated. For all we know, the feedback could well be the product of a very well organized group. And since no one in their right mind would try to read tens of thousands of feedbacks for a single user, it's also likely that the number would be padded.

It's just like memsticks sold there. I've known a lot of people who bought sticks from those sellers who claimed the sticks to be legit (and they sellers had a huge number of positive feedback as well), yet simple tests showed their were fake.

I know for a fact that people pad their auctions and ratings. I worked for a car dealer that did it on eBay.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

eBay is a perfectly legitimate place to buy software. You can't fabricate 1,000 positive feedbacks. A few, maybe, but when you get into the hundreds they catch you. They have so many things in place to do so.

And how the hell would they sell fake software and get positive feedback? The buyers don't realize they just bought a fake when the company rejects their license key?? That makes sense, not.

For some things, I would agree that feedback means nothing, but software isn't one of those.

In that sense, only CD-Keys matter. I'm not gonna expand on how blatantly spread they are over the internet. The only way they'd know if their software is fake is if they try to register it, and not all software would even demand that you activate your product so they can verify your key.

I'd only trust eBay when the item in question doesn't really matter if it's a knockoff or not (products that aren't electronics, or software, etc). Example, I wouldn't care if the PSP PlayGear Pocket casing I got for $1 would be a knockoff or not, since it would still serve its purpose of protecting the handheld while still being a good purchase for its price.

In any case, TC, just grab the academic license for cheap. Click here to see if you qualify for it. And unless your school or college specializes on digital media, I doubt they'd have licenses ready to give to students.

Check your pm.

Do they want to pay more, or what?

Meh. I'm still using good 'ol flash mx 2004.

What are you getting at? This thread is about Adobe software. You can only have it registered on one computer. In order to use it for more than 30 days, it must be activated. To activate, you use the Internet. Also, the software comes in a sealed BOX. Unless they are producing fake boxes with fake COA's with fake serial numbers that actually work printed on fake Adobe cd cases, then it shouldn't be too difficult to tell if the item is real.

I'd only trust eBay when the item in question doesn't really matter if it's a knockoff or not (products that aren't electronics, or software, etc). And again, you don't know what you're talking about. I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of electronics and such items on eBay, and I've never had a problem. The computer I'm writing this on write now was purchased from eBay, new in box. Obviously you have to be very careful when buying stuff like that, but if you actually know what you're doing, then it shouldn't be difficult to purchase high-end items on eBay. If you go buying a $1000 computer for $500, then you're an idiot, but that doesn't mean you can't find a legit one. And if you pay with PayPal, you're pretty safe against fraud.

The student price is for what it says, students. That means legally you can't use it for commercial use. Newgrounds would probably be considered commercial use. Not that they will catch you or come after you, but if you're using the software to make money, you're better off buying the regular version.
