Mario Brothers??

Ok, this popped into my head at work one day.. Why is it called the super mario brothers?

When you refer to someone as brothers/sisters by name, you use the last name/family name. for instance "The amazing Ainsworth brothers" or "the olson twins"..

Now why is is that the supermario brothers are called mario? Is marios name Mario Mario, and lugis name lugigi Mario? if anything, it should be spelled "Mario and luigi, the super brothers" no? o.O
Again! i might be dead wrong! i just found it funny enugh to mention. its kinda wierd how no one never questioned that part.

and while were at it, it bugs me to hell that the alternative version of mario: wario, is named wario. while the alternative version of luigi is called: waluigi! WHY? why not Wuigi? there is no A there.. and it sounds much better. anyways, please enlighten me on this INTRESTING SUBJECT NG! D: !

Actually, people did, but no one from Nintendo bothered to clarify what their last names really were. However, a lot of non-Nintendo-made piece of media (comic books, the spawn of Satan) suggested that their surname was Mario, and that came to be regarded as their actual last name.

"Waluigi" is a portmanteau of Luigi and walui, meaning "bad" in Japanese.

But then again, so was "Wario"... I guess they decided that Waluigi sounded better than Wuigi. Probably pronunciation issues with foreign consumers?

Okay, it's Mario Mario and Luigi Mario. It was an idea that was decided by Nintendo, and it makes perfect sense, The Mario Bros. so both of their last names is Mario. It was a bit lame, but it makes sense.

Now then Princess "Peach." Let's look at her original name, Princess Toadstool. In Super Mario 64 she signed the letter at the beginning of the game Princess Toadstool, Peach. So her full name is obviously Princess Peach Toadstool.

Get it? If you won't a real brain-twister, what are Wario and Waluigi's Last names?

Mario and luigis last names are both mario and the reason it isnt wuigi is because "Wa" in japan means bad. Since the second letter in Mario is A the just replaced M with W for Wario and added a Wa in front of luigi for Waluigi.
