Scientology is a sad and scary thing. I'm amazed that people fall for such scams in this day. Not to mention their main operating base is like more like a military fortress than a place of worship. They probably got more security than the white house.

Have you ever seen Vatican city? Have you ever seen the Kaaba? Have you ever seen some of the religious sites in Jerusalem? Have you seen the kind of security the queen of England gets?

And how about the RCC for instance? The Vatican is the richest city in the world in terms of possessions, and it has influences all over the world. Is is fair that Scientology, similar in aspects of revenue and influence, is subject to tougher scrutinies? And for those who would quote abusive treatment as a cult factor, I have one word for you: Inquisition.

Scientology forces people to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to find 'ultimate truth', forces it's members to totally conform to it's structure or be ostracised and sued or even killed, and offers absolutely nothing on how to live a better life or be a better person. It's a corporation based on selling lies for a small fortune.

Hey, guess what? EVERY religion and nation tortured and killed people in the middle ages. But we live in a modern society where these things aren't accepted, and the modern Catholic Church, while it does have it's own problems, does not torture and kill people.

There can be Christian cults, easily. Catholicism in its current state though is not a dangerous cult. The current extremist Muslims could definitely be considered cultist factions, though, of a legitimate religion. Scientology though, I think, is not quite a legitimate religion. It would be if it was merely a philosophy, but unfortunately it tries to be too much more than that, and is quite dangerous.

i have been in protest of scientology since the first one back in feb, with the behavor i have seen with these people they are dangerous.

i had a guy come to my place, call me a terrorist, and gave me a bogus legal threat.

flyers went around my place bagging on me

people have been stalked, harassed, insulted, from what i have seen these people do, they are monsters, and i have never seen behavior like that ever

a women in the 70's wrote a book critical of scientology, and they made fake bomb threats in her name and went to jail, just because she was critical

in LA i have to take on some of the most insane of the handlers, i have been followed into the subway station a number of times.

and a scilon someone spotted i got some photos of and he went to grab my camera, when he noticed he failed he ran like a bitch.

but all and all, i personaly enjoy tormenting scientologist, handlers can't take me. and i like to have my fun laughing at how sad and pathetic they are, and the so many great photos and photoshopping we have that we use to make fun of them with, and all they do when we see the scis in person is bawww about it

The only diference between a cult and a serious religion are simply the number of people involved.
Scientology is crazy but oif the majority of the world was scientlogists they would not be a cult and be taken seriously.
There are plenty of things major religions do that would be cult-like if treated them like we do scientology.

To its leaders, it's a business. Not a religion, not a cult: a business, just with special tax breaks because they masquerade it as "religion". To its followers, on the other hand, it is an actual religion. I don't like Scientology, but not because of its beliefs which sound like a "cult". A cult is a religion like any other, except that it's not mainstream. Scientology's leaders, on the other hand, treat it like an illegal business: kill former members who could rat, encourage current members to leave their families behind, and above all, make money.

Yeah, I guess that's true enough. It's just that Scientology is doing that today, when we think ourselves to know better than killing in the name of faith. And it doesn't mean, at least not to me, that the other religions were fake either: I don't deny the possibility of Scientology being (at least in part) true, though I don't believe in it either.

Its just a scam that gets money from rich people that are dumb enough to believe in that idiotic stuff, some religions are dumb... but that one just takes the cake.
