Looking for Animator!! (Long Term) 2008-12-01 10:37:28 Reply

Ok, so I'm going to be honest... I skimmed the rules. However, I figure if I am well-mannered and think about what I write, I should be alright. If I'm breaking rules, temp-ban me, I'll get the message and I apologize ahead of time. However, if not.. all animators who are interested - - - PLEASE READ the FOLLOWING: (I know it's long.. I'm sorry. Not really.. just read it, yo.)

OVERVEIW:
I have a script.. Well, no.. that's a lie. I have quite a few scripts. Two of which are written down and totally completed. The rest (About 4 or 5) are in rough-draft form. These are just a taste of what is to come. I have been holding on to/perfecting these scripts for over 2 years now.. and I am very anxious to get them rolling. I have always planned to have this series on Newgrounds exclusively, and have planned a rather epic story line (I use this word in the sense of length, and not to pat my own ego on quality). LONG STORY SHORT: I have a story. I suck at drawing. I need someone who doesn't.

WHAT I HAVE:
I have a story, no animation talent whatsoever, and a need to publish said story.
Despite my horrid animation skills.. I also have Flash. I dropped $800 with the hopes of doing everything myself. Oh how sorely I was mistaken. I have no god damn idea how Flash works, even though I've seen every tutorial, studied the read-me religiously, and lost four months of sleep altogether.
I have Macromedia Flash: 8. I did not drop the extra dough to upgrade to 9, or even 10.. but I do have at least that much. I know not what this means.. but I am hoping that best case scenario is that you (The Super Awesome Animator who Responded to my Plea) and I can swap files or whatever. At the very least.. my having the program itself should help, should it not?
I have unfinished ideas. On top of this, I like to take pride in the prospect that I am a very open-minded individual. If you want to be Animator/Co-writer.. friggin A! I'd love that shit. I'm going to be honest, I want the best animator I can find who will appreciate my directive opinion as well as respect my production idea and overall goal, but I am not entirely closed off to suggestion, additions. BOTTOM LINE: If it's a good idea, it's a good idea, regardless of who thought of it.

WHAT I WANT AND AM LOOKING FOR:
AN ANIMATOR!
What kind of animator?
Honestly.. I'm leaning more towards an anime-style. I like sharp and clear characters and objects with fluent and engaging actions, as well as the specific feel the "anime" style gives when being seen by an audience. However, that is only a preference. What I want in the most BASIC sense is a SERIOUS and REALISTIC feel. The Flash is in PRESENT times, shortly after certain cataclysmic world events. I need a GRITTY aura. I want a SERIOUS tone. This will take EFFORT. And before you ask.. YES I HAVE CONSIDERED PAYMENT. I don't know if payment is a norm with animators animating animations (tongue twister, bitches) that scripts writers have written.. but I figure such a long-term project with actual TALENT and WORK required.. it should at least be an option.. if not an expectation.
I DO NOT plan on making money off of this series.. but I wouldn't mind it. T-Shirts, DVDs, what have you. Yes.. it is THAT long term. This should be considered an INVESTMENT. Although INSTEAD OF MONEY I want TIME INVESTED.

WHAT YOU SHOULD GIVE ME:
Show me flashes you've made. Show me shorts you've made, but haven't posted even. Show me Still-Artwork, Tiny skits, ANYTHING. Of course, I am more than willing to show you my SCRIPTS as well as CHARACTER CONCEPTS I have, including SCENERY and CINEMATIC STILLS. As always, THESE ARE OPEN TO SUGGESTION BY YOU.

SERIOUSLY. THIS IS SRS BUSNIS. LIEK THE INTRANET. SRSLY.

I hope I covered everything.. however any questions can be addressed by contacting me at:
MY EMAIL ADDRESS
( morgansm5480@portal.middlesexscc.edu if the above link doesn't work for whatever odd and irrelevant reason )

Remember. Long Term. I expect a part of your life. I'm giving you a part of mine.

Wow.. that was cheesy.. I might as well just say I love you.

Because... you know... I do.

Sweetcheeks.

People dont like to animate other peoples scripts too much. Its all about creativity, by using someone elses script they severely limit that.

S'cool.. I know that people like to animate things that are their own work.. but I was pretty sure I established the fact that thi is pretty much still awork in progress. The only thing I want to keep teh same is the same basic storyline. There is still the various episodes, details, and pretty much everything except the core plot. I am more than open to the animators own creative influence. The only thing I will say not to is.. saying no. If I don't agree with something.. it's always up to discussion. I would never flat out say NO. Maybe if I just wante like.. voice actors or some shit.. but if I want someone to do half the work.. well then they should cerainly expect to be entitled to half the input. Trust me.. I wouldn't be asking for an animator if I was some douchbag writer on a power trip with claims of my 1337 amazing script that will dominate frontpage every week. Well.. I guess I would be.. but I wouldn't promise what I was promising if I was a douchebag.. would I?

And not to be rude, but I really doubt you can speak for all animators. There's inevitably a variable somewhere.

Randomly CAPITALIZING words DOES NOT make you SOUND SMART. It's just REALLY annoying.

I don't get it when people say stuff like this... You didn't even attempt to say something to help the topic.

Also, at least in my eyes, capitalizing words doesn't come off as someone trying to sound smart, just a way to show the more important parts of what you're saying. Not like he is just doing it for all the BIG words he says, like... ANTIDISESTABLISHMENTARIANISM!

BUT, back on topic. I get what he's going for, since there undoubtedly people who can draw but can't make a story to save their life. He's providing just that, and although there is no way to validate whether his stories are actually good, it sounds as if he really has put some effort into them. Also he sounds as if he has a real direction to go in.

But in the end, if he had a little more comments like the guy that wants to offer his talents, and not ones where you just mess with him about how he typed his lengthy deal. Then he might just be able to get on with his series.

:D

Thank you MT. And yes, I was simply capitalizing the more important words. So if someone popped in that didn't feel like reading, and only skimming, hopefully the capitalized words would catch their eye. Better than having a potential candidate say "tl;dr".

And Keanoo, I'll be in touch, man. I'll have to dust off my old account though, lulz.

heheh or should.
But yeah, I can't see you getting one, especially long term, unless you're a coder.

You know.. because typos are totally uncommon. So I didn't feel like using spell check at 8 in the morning after having been up all night. Sue me.

And coding is much easier to study and learn than teach myself how to acquire a talent that I obviously don't have. Just sayin'. All the flaws people point out about my search for an animator are easily remedied. Well.. not easily.. but it's not impossible.

On a side note, I can handle constructive criticism.. I appreciate the tip on the coding.. but seriously.. are the spelling errors really in dire need of emphasis? Come on, I didn't do anything to piss you people off. If you're not interested.. whatever.
