I'm making an action game and I just want to know how to stop the player from moving out of the camera region so that enemies can keep re-spawning for a certain period. And after the player has defeated a certain number of enemies, the camera resumes side-scrolling once again.
Thanks.

Ok, I want it to work in the same fashion "Dad 'n Me" works: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/25 4456
That is, you move forward, fight, then move forward again. In that game, you cannot progress forward until a certain number of enemies have been defeated. Is that a better explanation?
Click on the link and play the game to fully understand what I mean.

i know that game and finally i know what you mean. this kind of game is called sidescroller.
okay. so you want to make one? and your problem is that you want to make the camera stop moving when enemies are in the screen? are you using a vCam or do you move the background?

No I am not using a Vcam as I dont even know what that is! lol. I am using a scrolling background. Is using a Vcam better?

i don't think is. since it will be a long background it's better to make it scrolling i think. i'm also making a sidescroller at the time and i'm also using the scrolling BG.
a vCam is some kind of camera in flash. maybe you should go check some threads about it, it's a very useful tool.
so you are moving the BG? okay. how exactly do you do this?

the way I move my background is pretty simple: if the player presses "RIGHT" , then move the background left at a particular speed and vice versa.
Or do you want me to copy and paste the code?
