We learn about the 100years war which we lost and others. The British history system doesn't hide anything or bend the truth. We just don't need to be taught that. Why put the american war of independence into the school system when it's absolutly nothing compared to many many other wars and historic events not only in britain but all over the world.

For fucks sake After your independence, Britain became the biggest Empire in the world. The american war of independece althrough a huge part of american history is nothing to the British or the rest of the world.

Britain don't learn about the shitty american independence war because it's nothing compared to over 1000 years of British History and Many many more years of World History, The American Independence war is nothing to us compared to so many wars the british have fought.

In primary we learn about the egyptions an greeks an shit (flys by your head since your well little) In middle school it;s tudors, medieval, french revelouton (don't ask why) English Civil war, Romans, 1st an second world war. In 1st year high school we did 1st world war and industrial revelouton. And i chose Histroy for GCSE and we did Jack the Ripper American West, the 60's and medicine through time (weird Topics but quite interesting.)

I didn't learn about it in school, to be honest sounds, ignorant but i didnt even know we ever ruled America or even had an empire until i was about 14. lol
We learn bout Ancient Greece and Egypotions and romans times. Also English medieval times and 1st an Second world war but we miss out Some of the most important parts of British History, Never learnt anything about the Napoleon wars which had the Most Famous Land and sea Battles of all time. Or the rise of the Empire.

Through Personal Interest I know alot about British and American History.

The American War of Independence was not a Major Loss really, After that they went on to become the Biggest Empire. America becoming Independent ment Britain could continue there trade without having to pay For the Defense.

Also Britain had More Important Matters in Europe (France) And A Huge war in India at the Time, And were at threat from Invasion by the french. Althrough The American war of Independence was a reasonable sized war and obversly extremely important to Americans, It wasn't to any scale many wars in British History at that Point.
Britains larger wars, Britains also Won much larger wars.

You have to remember English and British History Dates back over a thousand years, The American War of Independence Is one small war in comparison. And It's A huge thing in America (and rightly so,lol)

It's Not even a paticulaly amazing war. somthing like 90% of America were against the British, The British were Outnumbberd much of the times. The Americans had advantage of being able to use the land for ambushes and Gurrelia tactics, Britain was an Ocean away from home. The Army In America was poorly led, All the Soldiers wanted was to get out of the Prison which was the British army so many deserted, so many deaths by disease.ETC. And also America had the fuckin french on there side.

Not once in schools were we taught about the Napoleonic wars with the Battle of Trafalgar and the Battle of Waterloo two of the most well know battles in the world.
So why would we learn about the american war of independence.

Also, It's not as if you defeated the British, you won your independece, the war of 1812 saw you couldnt really do shit.....yet.
