Think that's right... is it?

That gives you 20 minutes, yessir. But we want to do it in 17. Keep thinking!

12 minutes.

Way to think outside the box and fail to find the real solution.
They have no tools. They are naked in the cold. All they have are their names and their respective speeds. =)

Then they wouldnt need the flashlight and could all cross at once

Like I said, it's cold and they're naked. If they don't all get across the bridge in 17 minutes, they'll freeze to death and become ice-weasel food.

19 minutes.

Or

Ten and one cross +10
One and five cross? +5
One and two cross. +2
17 minus, but is kinda cheating. Did i win?

Totally cheating. One has to keep running back on his own to get the flashlight over there, so 19 minutes.

You haven't won yet, but you haven't yet lost either=)

Yey! But anyway, the guy who takes one minute goes the first time and takes it back, goes with the next person, takes it back and goes with the last person. 17 minutes.

I have a small wealth of puzzles and brainteasers, and I don't think they're too widely spread on the internet. So, I'll periodically post some here for you to enjoy!

Justification of thread
Doesn't have much to do with NG, but most topics here don't. This is for relieving boredom and having some fun. If you like puzzles, anyway. If you're not a fan, then you can post clever responses like "Who cares?" or "dunno." Either way, you win =D

Rules
If you've already heard of a puzzle, don't ruin it for everyone by giving away the answer. However, if you'd like to pretend that you have not already seen the puzzle, and give the impression that you are very smart by telling us the answer, then feel free! We can't stop you.

Feel free to post your thought process, even if you don't have a solution. I'll give hints until somebody gets the answer. Whoever gets the answer first will be showered with glory!

And so, the first puzzle:

Four people, Tenly, Fivel, Tooper, and Onerly have to cross a bridge that will not support more than 2 people at a time. To make matters more interesting, there is only one flashlight that must always be with the (1 or 2) people crossing the bridge.

Tenley takes 10 minutes to cross the bridge, Fivel crosses in 5 minutes, Tooper in 2, and (completing a string of coincidences) Onerly takes 1 minute. When two 2 people cross the bridge together (with the flashlight, of course) they travel at the speed of the slower person.

Example: Tooper and Tenley cross first (10 minutes); Tenley takes the flashlight back (+10) and then crosses with Fivel (+10); Tooper returns the flashlight (+2) and crosses with Onerly (+2) --a total time of 34 minutes.

Now, find a way to do it in half that time (17 minutes)!

I think a more effective way would be to add a reminder in the review form. It already has the warning about linking to another webpage - a quick sentence could be added along the lines of "Please make sure your reviews are thoughtful and mature. Reviews with all zero scores are rarely warranted."

It would take a pretty big ass to give an undeserved all-zero score when there's a warning about it right in front of him.

Of course, some people will do what they want no matter what =\

Well, an important factor in designer yer characters is how you plan on animating them. Do you want hair that blows in the wind? And will you make it move by tweening or with fbf? With fbf animation, you'll want a sympol style that's easy to draw dozens of times...With tweening, you should find a wait to make some of the hair move while other parts don't...

Take a look at the Real Legend Of Zelda2. I mean, most of the animation is really tricky, but look at links hair (just in the preloader) and you'll see that it's really really simple. Just two graphic symbols waving about.

The hair in that last drawing looks like it would be functional for some fbf movements, but would be difficult to tween.

i agree that the heads look a bit too wide, but if you plan on drawing the rest of the character in sort of squashed style, it might look fine in the end.

Sorry if this doesn't help you much =\

So, here is a little bit of the plan for my Go animation, and some history.
Skip to pictures if you'd like :)

Go is an ancient Asian game, and was once integrated into the training of warriors. The game was understood to teach the players wisdom that would help them in battle. The game was taught to emperors and their children to help ensure a wise rule. This is all true.

The animation is a fictional piece based around that idea. It's follows an Asian general, who quickly rose through the ranks and surpassed his own teachers. He wanted to become better, but there was noone left to teach him, so he made the long journey to a reclusive Go master. He would play this master at Go, and learn all he could from him. The master spends his days meditating on top of a high mountain. After a long journey, the general reaches this mountain:

The Master's Mountain.

Go is played by two players taking turns placing a single stone on a board. One player uses black stones, one uses white. Black always goes first - and because of this advantage, the weaker player uses black stones (to help even out the game). Because the master is so freaking good, he will be completely dressed in white robes (Since he is always the better player, he always uses white stones). The general will be dressed in black, humbly admitting that he is the weaker player.

After a long climb, the general finally reaches the top of the mountain, where he finds the master waiting, in all his glory:

The Master.

That's all I have images for, so far, but the whole animation is storyboarded. =)

The shuriken-type-thing is snazzy. The columns are a solid addition, they make the opening far more interesting...you could even go ahead and develope the background a bit more (maybe a checkered floor patteren?). The stick is stylish, but the movement could be a bit faster and smoother. I like how the shape of his eye changes, and the crack on the wall. nice detail work =)

Far too late for this one, but I'd happily join in on the next one, if you'd like.
