I remember when you were doing that fer the Amateur FBF Collab. The collab still hasn't come out, you can still join in if you'd like :) Your animation is looking great so far =D

Response to: Amatuer FBF collab Posted May 8th, 2005 in Game Development

Man, so much stuff is happening!

The animations will be due next Sunday, not this one, like we planned, and we may push it a bit more afterwords...can't be sure. Sorry to people who wanted to see it out super-quick, but look all all these new people! Look at the glory! We'll give them some time =)

Icy, yours is coming along awesomely. Your shapes are great! I'm glad yer helping out the collab!

Darx, your new animation is looking sweet. The shading is beautiful, and the explosions are looking nice. Good stuff!

Daza, it's awesome! I think it wouldn't hurt to go back and add even more, but if you like it, then that's more than enough =D. I'm glad you finished all the way...If you lower the sound quality one more notch, will it be too obvious? That would probably put the animation well under size =)

Katow-Jo, Huzzah fer plots! You and I will be carrying on the plot department of the collaboration. I wanted to check out your other submissions, but they're both marked for administrative review...I'll be looking forward to a preview of the flash you're making for this collab =) Classical music = rock!

Sanchie, that sucks a lot about your computer. Your animation was really freaking cool. I think it would be fantastic if you started another one, but if you don't want to, I'd understand. Thanks for all the work you put into the first one, man!

Insignificance: First, 39 seconds of animation will be fine, if it's sweet enough. The size is 500x400, for no good reason XD. Sorry if that caused confusion.

SymbolMonkey (or -.-zZZ, or whatever), that's a prety hardcore-looking ninja! I'm constantly impressed with how you improve your skills. *inspired*

All you animators: <3!

=D

Response to: 120 Fps Colab Posted May 6th, 2005 in Game Development

Personally, I think tweens and movie clips should not be allowed either. Whether or not the finished animations lag or are not completely visible to the human eye, everyone will have to respect how freaking hardcore they are.

no, just review and say if you liked it or not, we have the story just review the background which i have posted, thank you.

I actually kind of like the background. The story could go in a lot of different directions from that starting point, so I can't say whether I will like the overall story.

Unless the story is AWESOME, then you will have to get a high score using good graphics, like most others.

It is possible that 1 out of those 4 will receive a sort of BYE so to speak and be given a shot to somehow enter round 2

Since the four in the main competition will have one comedian eliminated, maybe the second group could have 1 saved comedian, who is inserted back into the main competition for round 2.

On one hand, that will mean one more round before we can get down to one competitor, but it would be a nice thing to do :)

SymbolMonkey is busy, so I'll show off some over his glory.

He did all the modelling and animation on this
awe-inspiring chunk of glory.

Here's a picture of the dog's cat counterpart.

And to make everything way cooler, they might be rendered this awesome style.

I can't wait to see the animation he makes with these, the models are totally bad-ass!

Last pic link: The dog in the sweet-syle.

anyways, should i do another, *i'm dissapointed in mine* when is it due that way i know if i should start a better one *more fbf*

It would actually be cool if you did another. The fact that you submitted yours to the portal and showed it around the forums will make it less impressive when it's in the collaboration - and even though you may have made the characters move using fbf, it doesn't look much different than tweening. Your scenes at the end of yours are brilliant - if you could make a whole submission like that, it would be awesome =D

The deadline is this Sunday, but we'll offer the same to you as we did to everyone - if you have a nice-looking update by that time, we may extend the date for you. Good luck if you decide to start a new one =)

You don't have to use all of them if you don't want, but having different angles may make it more interesting to watch :)

Still, you can't use any sets other than the ones provided.

What rating are you going for? Can we use swearing or adult situations or what?

I just want to be sure before I start writing the script.

I'll upload the updated final version of that entry, and you put mine first, then yours, then misfits, take out all preloaders and add yours to the begining

Will do, sir!

I know how to do the factory thing sorta, well I'll make an animation of 100 frames for the preloader you make it into a preloader, all I need to know is how to make it bytes loaded=play frame

Doesn't have to be exactly 100 frames, according to this tutoria

Zombie I'll post the deviant art link in a bit.

Alrighty

BTW what is the official deadline as of now

Looks like we don't have an official deadline right now. It would be awesome to have everything done by next Sunday. We'd rather extend that than have you drop out, though =)

...What is the time limit

Try to keep your animation around 1 minute long..

...can it be anything as long it it emphasizes FBF?

Well, yes. Mine is a bit disgraceful in that regard...a fair amount of tweening, movie clips...but still, it's mainly about FBF.

This is MisfitBlob's submission , and this is -snare-'s.

Their submissions are probably more appropriate than mine...but -snare- is being pretty lenient =)

Yeahyeah, Jat, you should definitely try it out! Most submissions are done, but you're worth waiting for. The collab's due date has passed, but if you manage to make something as quickly as you said you could, then it's no problem waiting. We're still working on preloaders, menu screens, and so on.

Z. Amazing. Perfect. I love it.

=D Still have to figger out some way to make it smaller..

I've looked up some tutorials on making a preloader movie clip. If you made a movieclip of a factory making a tank, I could make it into a preloader, I think =D

Response to: Amatuer FBF collab Posted April 29th, 2005 in Game Development

Glory be! Sorta!

My submission is done.

However, after removing over half of the sound effects (most were too subtle to notice anyway) and halving the sound quality, I managed to cut only 200kb off of this beast of an animation.

It's late and I'm tired and dying, and have to get up in 3 hours, so I'm not going to do much research into how to shrink my animation down tonight. I'll make it fit, even if I have to go through and optimize every frame.

It's not a very amazing finale, but I hope you guys approve :)

Response to: Otcp Stand-Up Comedy Collab Posted April 28th, 2005 in Game Development

Hey, should our acts have credits at the end of them, maybe on the wall? Or should we just tell you what credits we'd like to have and you'll make a credits scene for the whole animation?

Of course, I'm still far from getting that far in an animation, just wondering :)

Response to: Amatuer FBF collab Posted April 28th, 2005 in Game Development

Cool stuff, Daza! You have some line movements that would never occur to me...high quality.

Response to: Im frightened and confused Posted April 28th, 2005 in General

Sorry to bump this, but it's happened to me before. The most probable reason is if you are using one dead battery and one live one in the mouse. Doing this sends current through the dead battery, as if it was being charged. Non-rechargable batteries come with a warning: Do not install backwards or charge, or abttery may explode or leak.

It broke my mouse the first time, because I flipped out and dropped the mouse in alarm. It landed inside out, so the acid got on the circuitry...Taking it apart and cleaning it did nothing.

Anyway, use fresh batteries in yer mouse :)

Response to: "Flash Noir"--Help on new movie Posted April 28th, 2005 in Game Development

"My movie was exported like drugs out of Columbia."
"I had 12 keys; 11 frames, and one to the safe" (or one for the car, or whatever)
"My image was imported onto the stage. I tap F6, and it's as framed as Roger Rabbit"
"The case was like onion skinning: I kept seeing new layers of the past, and I couldn't help but shed a tear."
"His punch was as predictable as a 12-year-old's tween"
"Little did I know it, but as I keyed my frames, he was keying my car.."
"The clues were as scattered and varied as the layers in my animation: some locked, some invisible - but all necessary to finish the job."

Nothing to great there, but maybe they'll be useful?

Anyway, I'm supposed to be asleep.
