Start with small games (PONG is good, because large things can overwhelm people starting out), and then try to make it 'complete' (add multiplayer, menus, etc after your finished with the 'game' part).

Got it working. Thanks! I Javascrypted each <li> tag that represents an item on the navigation bar.

My navbar is posted below...

Im trying to get the whole button to link to a page. I already have a way of doing so...

<!--The navigation bar-->
<ul class="navbar">
 <a href="games.htm"><li>Games_</li></a>
 <a href="media.htm"><li>Media_</li></a>
 <a href="news.htm"<li>News_</li></a>
 <a><li>Personal_</li></a>
</ul>

This does the trick, but invalidates the page, because cant have <li> in <a> tags. I swapped the tags out...

<!--The navigation bar-->
<ul class="navbar">
 <li><a href="games.htm">Games_</a></li>
 <li><a href="media.htm">Media_</a></li>
 <li><a href="news.htm">News_</a></li>
 <li><a href="personal.htm">Personal_</a></li>
</ul>

...and it only makes the text clickable. Does anyone know how to make the whole button clickable while keeping the page validated?

That's just because you don't know any better. If you had any clue what perfect was, you would surely withdraw that comment.

Someone was asking for help on how to make their computer run faster, and "VISTA SUX!!!" dosent solve anything. Im not withdrawing anything.

Light boxes seem to be awsome, but if you want a normal pop-up then use the open function...

Javascription

window.open("destination.htm")

You can also use anchor tags with them

<a onclick=window.open("destination.htm")>Click Here!</a>

You can keep guessing passwords and eventually guess the right one to gain access to whatever your trying to do.

But for a more serious answer, there are many ways to do so, and we cant really discuss them seeing how not everyone is willing to be ethical about hacking (we dont know if your testing security or cracking systems)

Your just going to have to take your time and look at the long list of programs you got, and go get rid of a few.

Defrag your hardrive and run a virus scan while your at it. You can also "msconfig" and manage your startup programs (turn off everything that you dont need on when your computer starts), too many startup programs can slow down your computer.

Only the things with a price tag on them. You can still download trailers, demos, free content, etc.

I like the cartoonish (Sly Cooper for the PS2) outlined renders and realistic renders (stuff like Halo 3 for Xbox 360) alike.

My favorite sort of visual style of 3D art is pretty much mechs with nice lighting and a very high polygon count (Armored Core 4 for the PS3/Xbox 360), wish I could see that sort of thing in gameplay though.

I concur. Games like World of WarCraft and Halo took money to make. They didnt pay for the production with the profit of the final product (well, I guess in some sort of way, they did. But not in this stage of development).

I would flame the origonal poster, but (judging by the signature) I can see that he is actually making progress with what he is trying to do. I dont see an indie MMO happening, complete this knowlage checklist before you attempt one. One Xbox Community Game Colosseum was origonally ment to be an MMO, but the developers were able to remake it into a nice action game (something you could consider doing if the MMO fails).

Visual C# Express / XNA Game Studio - The thing that got me making games for free. C# is also my first programming language.

Games Explorer - Neat little feature that was introduced in Windows Vista. This basically allows you to launch all your games from one folder. You can also stress test your system to see if it matches the required/recommended WEI scores (for those who arent the most computer savy) for running your games. If someone would kindly tell me how to add Games Explorer support on a ClickOnce installer, I would be greatful.

Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
-Neat multiplayer
-Campaign is awsome, but not much replayability.

Halo Wars (Xbox 360)
-An RTS for consoles. Somewhat good multiplayer.
-Not for the seasoned RTS player (it can get boring).

Castle Crashers (Xbox Live Arcade)
-Sweet game.
-Online issues, story dosent have much replayability (unless you want to do the game's hardmode).

Penny Arcade: Percipice of Darkness Episode 1 (Xbox Live Arcade)
-Nice RPG, with humor.
-Nonrepetative story, not standard definition TV friendly.

TrackMania (PC/Steam) FREE
-Sweet racer with several online communities. Massive custom tracks.

...there are too many games to list right off the back.

Topic: Video Games cause violence?

Posted: 06/10/09 08:55 PM

Forum: Video Games

Your little brother commited the offense, not the game.

Video games dosent kill people, people kill people.

Your brother may have been playing a violent video game, but he himself, NOT THE GAME, made the decision to punch someone. Video games dont cause bad behavior, they cause bad kids to get off scott free from offences because of parents who point fingers to the obviously wrong people. I mean no offence, but this decision makes your Mom as dumb as the reporters who give a scoop on school shootings (I respect the fact that she is trying to protect you and all, but banning violent media dosent prevent violence, your going to find it EVERYWHERE).

Private Server
if you're going to play alone you could at least play a game that doesn't suck dick

Nah, I think he dosent feel like paying for the things he wants in life.

Besides, from what I have heard some of these private servers contains game modds (so the game might not be the same as when your playing on Blizzard WoW). Not to mention your just opening up to more game bugs by downgrading.
