Need Ideas Posted June 6th, 2010 in Game Development

Hello Newgrounders,
I'm currently hepling with a game. In this game you have a flamethrower and kill mechanical/fleshy parasites. I can't thing of any ideas for the menue or ui theme. Can you?

Hello guys,

I would like to start a game collab. I like the idea of being able to work with other people. Thus being able to get on a road block, put your work down for a day, come back and someone has created something new. This set's the mood for a good game. As far as I know most game's arn't completed due to lack of interest after a while. In a collab the project will keep refreshing it's self.

How will it work?:

Here is the link to the dropbox folder of this game. Please be respectful and keep everything organized. Put date on all files. Do not delete anyones files.

Code:I would like to have this project done in As2 as I'm very fluent in it. But if enough people want, I'm willing to make it As3.

Anyone can join this project, rather you have a lot of skill or little.

game:War in the middle East... can't think of any more :)

I can do it.

Response to: Good idea? Does your homwork Posted May 5th, 2010 in Game Development

Yeah I took a look at it. Though I still may continue my app do to the fact that there are many younger people on game sites that would be happy to not actually have to do their homework.

Response to: Good idea? Does your homwork Posted May 5th, 2010 in Game Development

I see. The wolframalpha dies not require knowing the formula.

And also. Your correct about the other stuff.

Response to: Good idea? Does your homwork Posted May 5th, 2010 in Game Development

Weird that you can't open the link. Try copying it and then pasting into the address bar.

I took a look at the thing you suggested. It seems very helpful but differs from what I'm trying to do. With min you don't need to know the formula.

Response to: Good idea? Does your homwork Posted May 5th, 2010 in Game Development

Haha don't worry I'll be adding more. If I could program iPod this would be 10 times better.

Started making this because I was bored. Is it a good idea?

Response to: As2 Collision Detections With Array Posted April 11th, 2010 in Game Development

Thank you!

for(i = 0; i < objects.length; i++){
		if(objects[i].hitTest(objects[i])){
			trace("hit");
			objects[i].grav = 0;//here is my problem
		}
	}

I have a var inside of object2, but it is dynamicly attached, and there may be multiple ones. How would I reference that var?

Response to: Making A Battle Card Game Posted April 11th, 2010 in Game Development

If he is an expert he will code in the timeline also.

Response to: As2 Collision Detections With Array Posted April 11th, 2010 in Game Development

Oh sorry,

I'm asking how to check for collision between arrays.

I need to check for collision between objects. So far a have:

On Object1 Timeline:

_root.objects.push(_parent);
trace(_root.objects);

On Object2 Timeline:

_root.objects.push(_parent);
trace(_root.objects);

On Main Timeline:

_root.objects=new Array();

Make a MC the size of your stage. Export it for AS
Then create a button that says clothes, or somthing similar.
On your main timeliine:

onEnterFrame = function(){
      button1.onPress = function(){
            _root.attachMovie("clothes","c_mc", _root.getNextHighestDepth());
           c_mc._x =
           c_mc._y =
      }
}

Thanks for the Feedback,

I'm not asking for a sig. And this is a sig for my game, not forum sig! :)

Response to: Feedback on Flash Signature. Posted April 8th, 2010 in Game Development

Thanks for the feedback guys,

I'm normally more for coding ;). Anyways I'll add a grunge theme, sounds like a good plan.

Only thing I suggest is adding more movement to the gun.

Response to: As2: How to make a overlay Posted April 7th, 2010 in Game Development

I really need some sort of bitMap option I think. Because I have a feature for custom skins

As2: How to make a overlay Posted April 6th, 2010 in Game Development

I have a gun selection system, in side of one MC there are preveiws of all the guns. Mean if you hit the right arrow you will see gun2, again and you see gun 3, all these guns are different shapes and sizes. You can also choose the skin for these guns (camo,pimp,plain,silver).

What I want to do is have one dynamic code that detects the area of each gun and overlays the skins on top. Any ideas on this?

Hello,

My computer has recently gotten a virus. It's a sad fate considering all my Flash work is on there. Anyways I am wondering if I could get and help on choosing an affordable computor that meets most of these requirements:

1) Full Sized Laptop or Desktop
2) Windows 7
3) Runs smoothly with Flash
4) Runs most steam games well.

Thanks!

Hello,

I'm looking for an artist for interactive gun 2.0 (http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/115 4012) IT's already 20% done.

Would you be interested?

Game Name: Interactive Gun 2.0

Game Description:Summary: IAG2.0 will boast one of the most fluid, realistic, and overall fun gun simulators on the web. The original IG was a hit in my eyes, I got a lot of good feedback from it, but it was not exactly a home run for one reason. It had no game play at all, just shooting a gun. In IAG2.0 I plan on keeping the original simulation part of the game, but also adding a lot of new features, these include:

Sandbox Mode- The player will set up a target range of their own. Items in the range will include bottles, targets, ect. She/he will then proceed to shoot these objects with their gun of choice. This mode is really just for a little fun and relaxation.

Ricochet Mode- This is by far my favorite mode in the game. Ricochet implements a huge puzzle aspect. The player will have to bounce their bullets off of obstacles such as walls to hit the target. She/he will start out with a multiplier of 8.0; every shot (excluding the first) will split the multiplier by half. In the end your score will be multiplied by the multiplier and then transferred into in-game cash. Ex: (300pts) (2 Multiplier) = 600 dollars. On the other hand it can go against you, if you shoot to many times your mult. Will go into the decimals, thus decreasing your score!

Gun Shop- Players will be able to buy new guns(15+), new gun skins, custom skin colors, logos, and custom skin tools (such as a paintbrush). This is where mochi coins will come in, big time. I may set it up to where only certain tools, guns, colors, or logos can be bought with mochi coins. Now if it's possible to use the mochi social to create a custom skin and sandbox levels trading post it would be great. Players would be able to pay (with mochi coins) for the right to use the trading post. This would open up a whole new level of game play and replay value.

Custom Skin Mode: Players can put their artistic talents to use here. Adding things such as attachments, paint, a logos (including the mochi logo). As I said before this would be perfect with the trading post. Players could also send each other gifts or in game cash.

Please Respond if your interested.

Response to: Reflect bullet based on wall angle. Posted March 19th, 2010 in Game Development

I'm doing it by bullet a var called speed. Also I'm not going to come back because I already have a game deep into development and it really needs this.

Response to: Reflect bullet based on wall angle. Posted March 19th, 2010 in Game Development

It's the later.

Is that to say that I could use bullet._rotation *= wall._angle;?

I know this will inolve some trig but how exactly will it be implemented?

Heres what I have for when the bullet hits the wall:

rotation *= -1;

That works based off of gun angle but not wall angle. Any help? I have seen a trig page based on this but I can't figure out exactly.

All _x values are just a stand in for this example, you will have to change them.

//as2
var pressed:Boolean = false;
var accuracy:Number = .40
 //this can be changed to suit you
function drag(){
      photo.onRealease = function(){
              pressed = false;
      }
      photo.onReleaseOutside = function(){
             pressed = false;
     }
      photo.onPress = function(){
             pressed = true;
      }
      if (pressed){
            var drag = accuracy;
	    photo._x += ((_root._xmouse-photo._x)*drag);
      }
      if(photo._x >= 300){
           photo.nextFrame();
      }
     if(photo._x <= 1){
           photo.prevFrame();
     }
     onEnterFrame = function(){
           drag();
     }
}
