Sorry for the DP, but no, you're not in the right place. The description for the Animation board is "Discuss techniques and methods with fellow animators." You could, however, try other forums or...again, search around for help. :)

Really? You didn't try Google-ing a Youtube-to-GIF converter?
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=youtube+to+gif
But I can't get all self-righteous, since the site places text over the .gif after it's done. Eugh. But I managed to crop it out with a little help from my image-editing program. ;)
Here you go!

He may be talking about the .fla file, rather than the .swf file you see.

It felt choppy because you either set your framerate pretty low, or just had a couple of frames between each new image. I would reccomend using tweening, or in another way to highen your framerate.
The image is a .gif. I don't think he's using a Flash editing program.

we all have to start somewhere right?
Hey, kudos for working until the end of that animation. It's pretty frustrating creating animation frame-by-frame.
ReNaeNae has been going around posting a link to free Flash editing software.

You should check it out. I didn't read anything about tween animations (where you can just slide images around instead of creating a picture for each position they're in), but I know a few of them support onion-skinning, which lets you see a faded image of the previous frame, which would help you a lot.
For some reason, I can't see the fuzzy effect you're talking about.
However, I DID notice that the animation was a bit choppy. Since you're using a motion tween, you could probably ramp up the FPS a bit. What's the current FPS you're using?

You could always edit the first post.
It's only a bit of work you've done there, but if you enjoy animating, by all means finish it!

Amazing things can be done with both frame-by-frame animation and the various types of tweening. The difference in QUALITY is determined by how much time you spend on the animation, really.

Ah, I thought about doing that. Wasn't sure if there was another way.
Alright, thanks a bunch!
Hey, Newgrounds!
I'm fairly new to Adobe Flash (CS4), and I was wondering if any of you could help me solve this hopefully simple problem.
This:
Screen Cap
The highlighted section.
What you have there are two motion tweens separated by a blank keyframe.
Originally, the blank keyframe was not there. Motion Tween 1 is a man walking (an object sliding across a distance). Motion Tween 2 is a man tripping (also an object that is being slid across the screen).
However, when I motion-tweened the second object, it was replaced completely by the first object. So instead of having a man walking then tripping, I had a man just walking across the screen.
I think the problem is that Flash thinks that I want to continue the first motion tween onto the second. The blank keyframe that I added in solved that problem (by utterly separating the two motion tweens), but created an unwanted flash of white in the animation.
Is there any method I can use to have the two motion tweens link smoothly from one to the other?
Ah, I have a better understanding of the situation now. Thanks guys! I'll see if I can avoid using commercially-licensed music.
As for that Ars Technica article: fuck these attempts to create ridiculous copyright laws - it's another reason to move to Canada.

I thought so...but how likely is it that I'll get my ass sued?
I have a question regarding putting music into videos. I've seen animations that are set to songs. Are all of these songs each under a Creative Commons license or simply user-made music?
In other words, is all the music used in the flash animations on Newgrounds legal? For example, I remember watching a flash collab set to "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis. Is this not under the jurisdiction of copyright law, or has the recording company dropped its rights to that songs like that?
Thanks in advance. I hope that I've made my question clear, lol. I'm thinking about using videogame music, but am unsure about the legal consequences of using it in my animation.
Hello all. I've recently started animating with Flash (also a first post in a while in these forums), and right now I'm in the process of creating a simple play button for my animation.
I want the button (which is named simply "playbutton") to start jump to the 3rd frame and start playing the .swf.
This is the following code.
stop() : void;
on(release)
{
this.gotoAndPlay(3);
}
Unfortunately, when I test the movie, the preloader runs, and then the animation completely skips over the button and immediately starts playing the movie without waiting for the user to click the button.
I tried Googling various codes for doing this, but I couldn't find anything that worked.
Could someone help me? Thanks in advance!
Yes, that's true. Rogues do suck. I have a level 8 rogue. I gave up on it because it sucks. Level 8 is Lethal Strike. "Does 150% more damage!" Yeah right. I tried it, it looks like a regular attack, and it did 5 damage. That can go up my ass! The Weapon Throw does more, which is level 2. 150% and 5 damage? The 100% attack must've done 3! I'm a level 6 ninja now.
The Blade of Awe sucks. Trust me, you get it for free if you're a guardian. Why would they do that if it was that good? It does Earth damage. If you have 0 Strength it does about 20 damage. The chance of summoning a guardian dragon is 3%. Literally! Go look it up from Valencia in the Pet Shop. Get the Blade of Rennd or Chiang of Exploding. You don't have to be that high of a level and both special attacks are used for massacre. Blade of Rennd special creates 4 swords that come out of your hilt. Two swords shoot out twice (4 swords, not including the real one) and do a total of 50-70 damage. It did 148 for me once (well, it was a water guy). Chiang of Exploding special it flies out of your hand and explodes on your enemy. It did 120 for me once.
Hello! I want to join! I love AQ. How do I officially join?
My AQ stats:
Guardian
Level: 52
Class(es): Level 3 Fighter (gave up years ago)
Level 8 Rogue (it's ok i guess...don't use it a lot because it's all luck)
Level 6 Ninja (I am trying to level up on that)
Weapon: Blade of Rennd (I've seen the special do 148 damage! but I was lucky, the special usually does 60. The Blade of Rennd does Energy damage. Special makes 4 swords come out of the hilt. Shoots two swords twice, about 30 damage each)
Shield: Glazer Shield (I think...A green circle with spikes spinning along the edge. Blocks each element a little, about 10% of each.)
Race: None
Thanks!
