Done it straight away, mate ;]
Thanks a lot for mentioning it!
the piano playing is pretty good .. the vocals kinda waver out of tune... sounds like your searching for words while you sing... try to tell a story or go with a theme .. the words will pop in your head easier.
It all depends on the current situation, more or less.
One day, I'm able to sing a while story, the other, I can merely sing random words.
It is especially hard for me, as I am a native speaker and English isn't my primary language.
Regardless, I understand what you're telling here ;]
I'll try to look for a theme before playing, as that'll probably help as you said.
Like before you play try to write a small story in your head and visualize things in the story and emotions involved..
plus every piano man should have some stories to tell wether it be about everyday life .. a way that your feeling about something or even just a made up tale ... thats why billy joel was so good.. he put pictures into peoples heads with his words and gave a feeling to the story with his music.
You sure like Billy Joel's Piano Man, don't you? :]
I love the song, and indeed, he was a great player thanks to that gift.
Of course, note that he had already written the song down once, yet I do agree!
I have plenty of stories to tell, -heck, I even write stories myself-, so I reckon if I focus on it, it shouldn't be any problem!
myself i have been trying to learn piano by just playing along with some loops.. i have also tried singing along with my playing.. it friggin hard.. kinda like my brain wont let me do the two at the same time so i end up sluring my words or fucking up my playing...
I suppose you already figured I have a similar problem sometimes :)
Loops are indeed a nice way of learning, I study piano as well, yet I use loops to practice too.
They're a nice kind of way to play, as it feels a whole band it supporting you!
At any rate, I wish you all the best for your future!
I'm sure you'll be posting your own songs 'n tunes in no time ;]
Recording it is awesome as well it give you a database of what your good at so you can eventually write a masterpiece with all that you have created...i would say over time youll get better at improv steadily.. i have gotten better at it but im still not as good as you.. since i dont acctually play piano.. i thought cause im a pretty good drummer i would be good at the ambidextrousness of it but it is extremely different and kinda difficult
Indeed, I figured I can't really write everything down, but I may as well record it!
So I did, it's the first record so I might've been slightly nervous too... Ah well!
I'll get better over time, yeah, and besides; I'm still young, there's a whole future ahead of me.
And so is there for you!
Thanks a thousands for the constructive criticism, I really appreciated it!
