Response to: Voice Actor Wanted Posted September 6th, 2014 in Audio

Hello! I'm currently looking for voice actors for a musical project I'm working on with a group of other folks. The project is an online musical adaptation of the game Ghost Trick. (It's by the same people who did Ace Attorney, if you're familiar with that series).

To ensure that things run smoothly, we're opening parts for auditions as the songs those parts sing in is finished. For example, if Character A sings in Songs 1, 2, and 3, then Character A won't open for auditions until those three songs are done.

We're currently looking for voice actors for all non-singing parts as well as our only finished singing role thus far.

There are seventeen non-singing parts available, fifteen of which would be for men and two would be for women. For specifics:

- The male voices should generally sound like they're in their twenties/thirties and, for the most part, be authoritative (a good chunk of the parts are for police officers, guards, and so forth).

- The Blue and Green-Suited Officers should be serious to the point where it overlaps into being Comedically Serious.

- The Coroner should be deadpan, with an edge of snark. One should distinctly get the sense that he does not give a flip about what's going on.

- Detective Rindge should sound on the younger side and be incredibly long-suffering.

- The Young Officer should be so over-the-top and melodramatic in his relationship angst that it flies into being hilarious. As his name suggests, he should also sound youthful (somewhere abouts his early twenties).

- Both of the Cops should be nervous, in a humorous way (think like a dialed-down Shaggy and Scooby in terms of personality).

- All of the Guards should sound uncertain. They're putting a man on death row and are honestly not sure if it's the right thing to do or not.

- The Sailor should be in a full-blown panic. The submarine he's on is falling to bits, he thinks there are ghosts around, and he's scared out of his mind.

- Bobby's audition line has him in a rare moment of despair, but he should otherwise be a snarky person. He frequently plays off of his more nervous partner, Bailey, so part of this is how the actor for Bailey works with this actor. He has lines in the song "Panic Dance", but they are all spoken.

- The two women should be in the twenties-thirties age range. Alma ought to sound no-nonsense in a maternal sort of way. Fiance Sissel should sound broken but oddly hopeful (she's suicidal and believes she's moving on to something better) and have a higher voice to indicate she was something of an ingenue not so long ago.

The demo lines for the parts can all be found at this thread, here. All of the lines are directly from the script.

The available singing part is Bailey, the neurotic prison guard. He's Bobby's partner, and his frequent anxiety attacks are a constant source of amusement for Bobby. Bailey also has a tendency to do his little "panic dance", which sets the stage for his only song in the musical. Please note that while the beta recording of Panic Dance has Bailey singing with an English accent, it is NOT necessary for people auditioning to replicate this (although they are welcome to if they would like).

Bailey's audition lines, both spoken and singing, can be found at this thread. You can also find links there to the music for "Panic Dance".

For anyone who wishes to audition, send your clip to Temsik (our project's director/sound editor) at hotmoltenmagma2@gmail.com. Include in the e-mail your name (usernames are fine), the character you want to audition for, and your audition (or, in the case of Bailey, your speaking and singing auditions).

Our forums, where all our work is going on, can be found here, at this forum. If you have any questions about the project or what we're looking for, you can PM me there (I'm there as ZeldaQueen), here, or e-mail me at zeldaqueen64@gmail.com.

Oh wow, that's an impressive list of credentials! Would you be interested in helping out with my current project, the Ghost Trick Musical? In a nutshell, we're working to do a musical adaptation of the game Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and still need help getting songs completed. There's a list of all our songs here, so you can see that there are quite a few not even being worked on, let alone finished.

If you're interested in helping out, please PM me and let me know! We're using a variety of genres and instruments in our songs, so I can promise quite a bit of creative freedom. I'm also willing to help out however I can and answer any questions you have, so please just let me know if you have any. :)

Hello, folks! I and several others are working on something we call "Ghost Trick: Phantom Musical Project". It basically is a fan-made online musical of the Capcom game, "Ghost Trick".

With the script and song lyrics written, we are currently focusing on getting the songs recorded. Before we hold auditions though, we want to make beta recordings of the songs - basically, rough recordings that will give everyone auditioning (or recording the final version, when the time comes) an idea of what the song ought to sound like when put together.

Because all of the instrumentals for our songs are not yet finished, the beta recording process is still ongoing. The roles we currently need filled are:

Ray: A talking desk lamp/ghost - bass (Note that for the song Ray sings in, two of his three lines are spoken and the third is half-sung. So not a ton of singing needs to go into this particular recording)

Dandy: An affably evil spy who basically is his name - tenor

Inspector Cabanela: An eccentric police inspector - baritone or tenor, but anyone singing for him must also be able to do a very jazzy and out-of-beat rhythm

The Chief: The...well, chief of police - baritone or tenor, like Cabanela, but without Cabanela's unique style. Instead, he sings in a far more straightforward manner

Bailey: A neurotic cop - No specific vocal range. Since his only singing part is fairly brief (most of his song is spoken), as long as one can follow the melody of his song, it's good

Bobby: Bailey's much saner partner - This part is entirely spoken. No singing required.

If anyone is interested in helping out with a recording, either PM me or e-mail me at zeldaqueen64@gmail.com. Let me know what part/s you're interested in, and I'll hook you up with the lyrics and instrumentals for any songs they sing for. If anyone is interested in checking out our work directly at our forums, you can follow along here. I can be found there under the username "ZeldaQueen", if you want to ask me anything.

Because this project is fan-made, we unfortunately will be unable to pay for any work done. Everyone will be given full credit, however, and any beta singers are more than welcome to also audition officially for parts, if they so desire.

Other than that, if there are any other questions, please let me know and I'll do my best to clear up any confusion. :)
