AHA! [what simple code, i clearly wasn't thinking.]
Thank you! XD

Gotoandplay("load ed") Posted February 5th, 2009 in Game Development

I understand how to use the Subject but how would I use the frame LOADED otherwise?
For instance, how would I say, if the root time line goes though the frame LOADED then a Movie Clip named Player goes to the next frame.

Does anyone know how I would code for this in AS?

Response to: Movie Clip inside of a Movie Clip Posted February 5th, 2009 in Game Development

So does anyone have any suggestions? If you need I could show what I have.

Response to: Movie Clip inside of a Movie Clip Posted February 5th, 2009 in Game Development

If you have a movieclip inside a movieclip, then you can simply put all the code on the parent clip and access the child clip through the instance variable you made of the child clip.

How exactly would I do that?
I have a frame inside a Movie Clip with the instance name "Shoot", the frame is named "Fire" and it is inside of the parent Movie Clip named "Enemy". The code I put on "Enemy" is

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (_root.enemy.shoot="fire") {
_root.life.nextFrame();
}
}

When the beginning of the "Enemy"'s frame shows the "life" Movie Clip plays the whole way through and then dies. And yes there is a stop(); code on the first frame of "life".

if your worried about people stealing code and not going to post it all then we can't help

Alright, but that is the whole code on the frame. I don't have anything else in that Movie Clip, I have it a bunch of other places but none of that should be interfering with it. I am pretty that AS inside of two Movie Clips is just impossibly buggy.

Response to: Movie Clip inside of a Movie Clip Posted February 4th, 2009 in Game Development

how about posting the code on the enem or gunfire where ever it takes you back then we might be able to help :)

onEnterFrame = function () {
_root.life.nextFrame();
};

life is the instance name of the health bar by the way

Response to: Movie Clip inside of a Movie Clip Posted February 4th, 2009 in Game Development

To be more specific I have an enemy that is a Movie Clip and his gunfire is a Movie Clip on the inside and I need, when the frame of fire is played, the health bar to drop to the next frame.

I am making a game and I have this bug where a Movie Clip inside of another Movie Clip is making a Movie Clip on the Root time line go to the next frame. Any suggestions either than moving the Movie Clip on the inside to the outside?

Confusing Posted December 13th, 2008 in Game Development

Here is my script:
if ((_root.player.hitTest(_root.leftwall)) and (@@@@@)) {
earth._x += speed;
}
If there is a script that I could put where the "@@@@@" is that says that my movieclip is on a particular frame (the frame is named "left") I would appreciate if someone could help me.

So I've been looking for a while and I can't quite find anywhere that there is help on artificial intelligence for a game code... The Best I've found is to just have the enemy follow the player around... Any help?

Uh, I really don't get it... If you think that this is easy stuff, could you (or anyone else 4 that matter) help me with the code for it??

:Plese...

Response to: Wave movement Posted November 11th, 2006 in Game Development

Thank you very much, I'll try that sin wave thing, I can't get the tweens right in him... I wish if I got the head to move, that Flash would grow a brain and say, "Hey, his body and tail should follow." and it would be kind onough to do it for me... but until then...

Wave movement Posted November 11th, 2006 in Game Development

I have a character that has a long thin tail, and I need for it to move/wave very fluidy and smooth, but I can't find an easy way to just wave on a repetative movie clip. Does anyone know how to make very smooth, fluid, wavy movement?

would be very much appreciative,
Zaxbro

But let it confuse you from the first one cuz all I did was resize the gun/arm and make the laser more free.

Are you sure you went into the movie clip and went to the last frame of him firing, and added the code to the frame? because taht looks like it fires faster...

Response to: Fps Flash Help Posted August 11th, 2006 in Game Development

Where do i put the 'true' variable? if this is the code for the gun:

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
_x = _root._xmouse;
}
onClipEvent (mouseup) {
play();
}

I know what your problem is, on your MC, go to the last frame, go to the actionshipt box and press: Esc, s, t and that should add a code to it like stop() I think, or you could just ype that in, but Esc s t i think is easier... but try it and let me see your results

Response to: Please help me Posted August 11th, 2006 in Game Development

Yea, the sprite and background you used looked good, but the part were you added didn't quite fit in with the colors, I mean I'm not a chick so I don't kow what "matches" but I would have gone with a little more lighter color. I did find humor that it looked like a tetris thing, that's pretty original... So, you did really good on the "animating" part, just try to improve on the drawing and stuff, then you'll be fine...

Oh and one more thing, MegaMan bounced kinda quickly, try to add a couple more frame to him, or he'll look like he's haveing spasms every second...

Response to: Does this sound like a good game? Posted June 25th, 2006 in Game Development

I think the idea of it is kinda odd, but hey! People thought that Einstien (how ever you spell his name) was a bit odd, and lok how famous he is, i mean come on, I know who he is, so I would go for it, and of 'course I'm gunna help, lol! (because I know where you live... I'm watching you right now.___.___. lol, nah but i do know where you live...)

Dude, I didn't steal it, I have saved it as a .fla but I added to it, and I saved it as a .swf, like i said, because it somehow just became a habit. Oh and the fact that I was still working on it at 3 last this morning!!!

Okay, here's the problem, I am making a game, and when I save it I usually save it as a .swf and i don't know why, it has just become a habit I guess. And I need to be able to break it back down to a .fla so that I can finish it. Does anyone know how I can do that?

At 6/18/06 02:04 AM, TremcladClock wrote: If you can't animate stick figures, then there is very little hope.

this is very true, but actually they don't use tweens a whole lot, they mostly use frame by frame, and if you are not aware of what that is: it is where you draw something (a stick figure in this case) and add another keyframe, change it a little bit, in the way taht you want it to move, and eventually you will have it althe way there if you keep repeating that... {you understood that right?}

Response to: Can you suggest something for me on Posted June 18th, 2006 in Game Development

They're not serious... they guessed like they always do. When you host something on imageshack.us, you should get this code thing, post that code here.

I tried but no such luck, idk maybe it is bigger than 1.5 megs, how can I found out the size of it?
