Step by Step

To start off, everyboy already know how the 3d form works right? With the dimensional mumbo jumbo and such. Well in my initial posting, I kind of screw up on a little things and went about fixing them before starting (like resizing the cylinder and adjusting the plane the shapes are on). I decide where my light source was and build on that. Soft brush are gradient/ hard brush are hard/ eyedropper tool is your best friend. Lastly reflective light (depending on the material) reflects light off of the material it's reflecting on (they usually appear really soft, so you never notice it unless you look close enough).

Did myself a Tutorial.

Just something I felt like sharing, even though I use Photoshop cs3, I'm sure other photoshops have an option to create your own brushes too and this too could still work the same. I'm also sure there a similar tutorial out there somewhere but if not, at least you have this one.

'sgood, but could you sort out the angle of the girl on the right's nose? It doesn't look like it's pointing in the same direction as her face, it's about 45 degrees off.

Not sure how I can picture what you mean and rotating a nose at the same time but I might as well give it a try. I also notice that small changes on a face can change the entirety of how this person look.

This.

Sounds like you fill in that request nicely, and I read the description on the art portal one, I'm curious on how you approach coloring your pencil sketches.

So yeah. Same old same old.

Like how everything is flowing stylistic plus I love how gradient and smooth and clean your pencil/pen sketches are.

At 3/20/12 05:35 PM, monsterparty wrote: oh man. I haven't really done anything lately. At all. Since January apparently. I've been so unmotivated it doesn't even make sense.

Well, I had an unfortunate two hour break from work today, so spent some of it trying to get back into the swing of things for the hundredth time. Nothing special, but it issomething.

Looks cool

This is just the beginning, roughly painting in the features and all that jazz. The whole face part right now, just ignore that. This is my first attempt at a photorealistic portrait with my brushes, so this whole experience is gonna be pretty rocky.

Post here the progress and result, love to see how it'll turn out :)

Personally for me, observing another artist's process on how they do their art is like dissecting for me, learn what make it ticks and figure out how it work.

It would be more interesting if you detail the mask head area a bit more plus blend the chest plate more gradient-like perhaps.
