bump for more help!

well, now I'm trying to fix that, and I'm not exactly sure how to achieve what I'm going for. I want the buttons to appear when I roll over the movie clip. how can I acheive that?

The code you have on the Actions layer on frame 1 is causing the problem. Basically, the button is under the MC which also has mouse actions assigned and as such, cannot be used.

so basically, I just need to pull the buttons out of that mc and recreate the animation on the buttons in a different movie clip with no actions on it. I think. haha.

anyway, thanks a lot for digging through that extremely convoluted flash...I started it earlier this semester when I didn't know as much as I do now, and it's too much work to change it.

the problem lies in frame 30, layer "buttonbg", in the instances of the three movie clips.

Inside each movie clip there are multiple button layers titled:
-early, rise, starets (in mc LIFE)
scandal, omen, murder (in mc DEATH)
-rumors, reknown (in mc LEGEND)

on the buttons in each of those layers is where I'm putting my _root.gotoandPlay(frame) actions.

I'm only using one scene, will that make a difference?

...I'll admit I don't even know how NOT to use scenes.

but anyway, the button is inside a movie clip, and I want it to point to a frame on the main timeline.

...I'm thinking it might help to post the fla file.

see, this is EXACTLY what I have already on the buttons, but it's not working. there must be something else wrong with my scene. hmmm.

I tried the _level0 thing, it didn't work.

I'd try the _root.score++; thing but I don't know where to put the frame title in there.

no, I know HOW to make the buttons, I've already done that. I was just wondering if there was anything special you had to do for buttons INSIDE movie clips to get them to redirect to a frame in the MAIN timeline.

hello everyone-

it's been a long time since I've been here, but I'm working on a flash project for my sequential design class, and I've run into a problem.

I'm trying to make a button embedded in a movie clip point to a frame in the root. I'm using behaviors instead of AS- trying to save time here. anyway, the redirects don't work, which pretty much makes the whole flash break down. does anyone have any advice on what to do in this situation?
