Surprise is one thing, but pointing at and making fun of someone is an entirely different matter. They could've just kept their mouths shut.

Learning German was tedious, but it looks good on my CV. That's it.

Also, German was a lot easier than French.

Clerks was pretty good.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was really good.
Dogma was also pretty good.

There's something about Jay's voice that's so genuine and real. When he acts, it seems natural. It's a rare talent.

Compared to other gangs, the Yakuza are relatively tame. Yeah, they have pride issues where they cut off their own fingers or commit suicide as ways to apologise to their leaders, but in terms of 'craziness' they're at the lower end of the scale. The Yakuza basically originated as a gang that protected citizens from larger gangs wanting to steal from them, as opposed to a gang which targetted innocents.

When they started getting into illegal activities, again it was mild stuff like gambling-related crimes or whatever. Nowadays it centres around prostitution, people-smuggling, that sort of thing.

MS-13 are one of, if not the most dangerous gangs on earth. In order to get into the gang, you have to let the other gang members beat you into unconsciousness. There are also reports of gangs only accepting members if the new recruit has killed in the past.

It annoys me that people can be too dense to realise that when a film says "Based on a true story", that doesn't mean that every single thing that happened in the film took place in real life. Although it's based on actual events, they make certain things more cinematic and exciting for obvious reasons. But people are just ignorant of this.

At 8/28/08 03:30 PM, BananaBreadMuffin wrote: Me, on the other hand, I loved it. I didn't have to think, didn't have to make an effort to look presentable, or anything.

For me, uniform was just another unnecessary hassle in everyday life. If we didn't have uniform, I'd have just worn the first thing I ripped out of my wardrobe when I got up. That's how I've always dressed myself. Uniform just meant extra time doing buttons, tying ties, etc. And on top of all that, they're just uncomfortable.

People claim that uniforms stop kids from making fun of each other because of their clothes, since uniform makes all kids equal. This is bollocks, as when I was at school there was still an enormous amount of bullying over what coats they wore, or what trainers they wore in PE.

Another thing that fucked me off about school uniforms is that they were enforced upon myself, and other people I was in lessons with because we were among the more intelligent students (higher sets for every lesson, etc) but the kids who were in all the thick classes were turned a blind eye when they turned up in trainers instead of shoes, or when they conveniently forgot their tie that day.

School uniforms are fucking shit. I know, since I had to wear them throughout my education (except for Sixth Form). The trousers are itchy, the shoes are big and uncomfortable, the shirt + tie combination makes working in the summer a nightmare since you're inevitably going to be sweating your arse off with a fucking noose round your neck, and the jumpers/blazers/whatever just add to the misery.

Fuck school uniforms, and fuck all the teachers who would rant on at us about how important it is to have your shirt tucked in at all times. SCUM.

Lucid dreams vary. Some of them are really brief and you only get a bit of 'action', whereas others last for ages and you can do all sorts of cool stuff. Sometimes you can control the environment, or hold control over physics. For example, if you decide you want a phone in your hand, you can look down and there's a phone. Or if you want to fly, you can suddenly take off. Depends how deep of a sleep you're in, and other such factors.

Anyone else have a lucid dream either on purpose or naturally?

Always naturally. I really don't know what all the fuss is about lucid dreaming, with people trying to 'make' themselves lucid dream. I've been having lucid dreams fairly regularly my whole life, so anything anybody wants to know about them, I can provide information. Except for how to make yourself lucid dream on purpose, since I'm not lame enough to try that.

I saw an eBay auction one time where a guy was selling the box which used to contain an expensive model truck. The way the auction was worded, it sounded like he was selling the model truck and the box, but if you read it carefully, you realised he was just selling the box. What an arsehole.

You're grouping academic education and real 'learning' together as one thing, which they aren't. When he said about being able to learn more from acid than from anything else, he was referring to the type of learning that can't be taught in schools.

Also, before it was made illegal, acid was given to psychiatric patients (with their consent of course) as a way of helping them open up emotionally and express their deepest feelings and emotions. So in a way, it was used as a learning resource.
