Let me sidetrack from the main topic a bit and let me tell about a relative personal experience.
I got to miss a day of school to go to Honors Orchestra, a program in local high schools which brings the best of the best in each high school's orchestra together to work a whole ten hours of hardcore, back breaking work to perfect a few pieces of music, in which we play a concert on the same day.
Now that that's done, Honors Orchestra is held at Hardin Valley High School, which was having some kind of school spirit thing at the time. They had put up handmade drawing of all of their favorite 90's cartoons, include Hey Arnold!, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, and The Wild Thornberrys, which were all actually pretty good.
I just thought I should mention that as it relates to the topic in two ways:
1) Celebrating older shows
2) Not celebrating newer shows
