You're a crackpot, go die in a fire.
Sorry if I hurt your feelings.
Seriously, if a fact that has existed for as long as humans causes you to question other people's self-esteem to avoid your own depression through realisation you are an irrational and unnecessary person and do not deserve any remorse, grievance or pity when you die.
And...?
Seems to me like you lost the track of whatever point you were trying to make :/
What's wrong with saying that we are animals? Omnivorous mammals are a form of animal and guess what we are? There's nothing confused about it unless it's fuelled by religious "we are different despite obvious similarities and evidence because ________ said so".
You're trying to involve religion unnecessarily here, wait to go. When did I revoke the fact that our structure is that of an animal? Never, because that would be stupid. My point is that our differentiation from the rest of the animals is to such degree that we can't just compare us to them in a moral manner. We've denominated that differentiation as our ability of reasoning, but that itself involves a whole lot of other attributes.
I admit that for those who don't embrace other belief than that we've evolved from other creatures it seems logical to say we are just another species of animals, but even if you don't believe in anything spiritual you have to realize that our outstanding complexity could at least give us another classification.
We are the most curious and environmentally manipulative animal with the largest and possibly most advanced form of civilisation on the planet.
True, but there are other things beyond that.
To a point, it's not that hard to find a human that is similar in their day to day lives as another human as well, making most people replaceable by your "same shit" approach.
Bah, it was just a poor example of the point I was trying to make, but from what you've read above hopefully you'll understand that our singularity can extend to a collective level.
And I'll say it again: I know and hold as true that we are like animals to a point. But we are very different at the same time.
