if you play with distortion that just normal, what you wanna do is mute them with ur hand
touch the strings again & they stop ringing, that way you can do those hardcore chugga chugga riffs

Topic: Ableton? Cubase?

Posted: 01/26/08 06:21 PM

Forum: Audio

i don't get it...you already have pro tools

i use ableton, it's a little strange. it's not like typical DAWs, it's more loop geared. it was designed kind of for live DJing...the interface is very compact, it does have an arrangement view but everything is still kinda loop based

these days all DAWs pretty much work the same so it's just a matter of how you like working
Cubase is a more old school style interface

Topic: What Makes Reason So Better Than Fl

Posted: 01/25/08 09:47 AM

Forum: Audio

Reason is intuitive...if you've ever worked with audio modifiers you would quickly grasp it & start turning knobs. FL is more punch-in based or pattern oriented

as for which is better, these days it's not even debatable...back in the day Reason had a lot more features over FL, but today they're pretty similar

how convenient of you to leave my side note out ;)
audioslave
radiohead

whichever of the two it was, i'm not fond of that type of music so i really don't look into it much

you're proving my point for me...if they don't know anything about it why would they buy it??
believe me man, these kinds of questions have been asked all over the internet & just about everyone says they wouldn't have bothered buying the album or software in the first place...& quite a few say they actually buy them because they first got them free & liked them

Topic: BPM - is it 148 or 74?

Posted: 01/24/08 09:43 AM

Forum: Audio

you don't need to count the actual beats in one minute...if you divide 1 minute in half it becomes 30 seconds, 30 seconds in half become 15 seconds

so all you need to do is count for 15 seconds & multiply it by 4 & you get the BPM
you can usually feel the tempo of a song naturally, from there you can gather how to count it up to a more accurate BMP

anyways, computers these days do all that thing for you automatically

in my opinion piracy doesn't hurt anybody cause people who pirate are people who most likely wouldn't have bought the product anyway

the prices don't help either...sure, those guys need to eat, but some of it is just abusive
same deal with music. it's the reason they started selling 99 cent songs & that band Radioslave (i believe) put up their album for free & told people to pay what they thought it was worth

i'de like to hear that too, cause i still believe they are taking you for a ride
maybe all it does is EQ your music, cause audio for radio is passed through the stations compressor & is EQed for radio play

sorry kid...that just can't be done
there are very few audio formats that can do that. mpeg4, wmaL & RA to name some
whoever is trying to sell you that is lying

look into lossy & lossless data compression

interface
look up audio firewire or USB interfaces
there are plenty for less than $100

or you can get a DI unit & a small mixer, which will also be 100 or less

or you can get a dedicated recording soundcard which is also about $100
trust me man, there are so many ways

you can get a used POD-xt for 100 or less & that can go straight into your crappy soundcard
wanna hear what a POD can do if properly mixed??

Topic: reason for lack of faith in god...

Posted: 01/21/08 02:09 PM

Forum: Politics

people have never really believed in god...they just do whatever needs to be done out of convenience
take the Greeks or Romans for example, they had tons of gods & worshiped them, but they knew they weren't real

the same could be said for any religion, some people just need to feel that there is someone out there looking out for their wellbeing...but no one really believes, if they did they would follow whatever rules this god puts out. but most people do whatever the fuck they want

even christians adopted a bunch of pagan rituals & beliefs to appeal to a greater public...everything depends on what's convenient

c# is mostly used as a RAD tool while the hardcore programming is done in a more traditional language
also it uses the .net framework, which uses more system resources & only works for windows of course
