Meh, I think I've missed something. I've wanted to add that it would take a few more years until people start using it often. I mean, seriously, 10% of internet users still use IE6...

I'm a little curious about what it's all about, in laymen-terms. And if you were to develop something for HTML5, what kind of programming language would you use?

HTML5 will save peoples' time, it will allow making simple animated buttons and maybe apps without flash, i.e.: instead of a big piece of embed code you can just type <video>something.avi</video> and it will create a youtube-like player for you.

It's going to be great, but it will be a few more years until all browsers start supporting it.

Maybe you should actually learn coding, because you can't even edit a source code you downloaded from the internet. Nobody is going to code the game for you. "I need help on making boss" is not going to help. Give some details and the problem you're experiencing, maybe then somebody will help you.

This would beg the question, if it's so simple to make a paypal button inside of flash itself, then why does everyone (including the professionals) go for those micro-transaction services? Heck, this way, the developer won't risk losing a sale because the player just happens to be signed up on another micro-transaction service different from the one in the game.

Because micro-transactions are used to buy in-game features instantly, people still use donate buttons.

Response to: AS3 Game Programming limits? Posted May 25th, 2010 in Game Development

AS3 is very C like, but it's meant for web. Sure, you can make a decent 3d game in flash, but it would run much faster if you did it in C.

What I'm saying is that when creating something with flash, you're making a game/app/movie that will be played in browsers, keep that in mind.

Response to: AS2 Platformer game -Help- Posted May 25th, 2010 in Game Development

Just trigger an event to a hitTest - when the player reaches the end, flash goes to new frame / generates a new level ( I dont know what code are you using)

Same with falls - a hitTest that will set your coordinates to starting position...

You shouldn't worry, the game has your name in it, right?

I've dealt with this so many times... If i google my name now, i'm going to find lots of my flashes hosted on sites I've never heard of. Rustyarcade even created an account KirillPoletaev without asking me, but it's okay - the ads are intact and there's always my name and a link to my site in my games.

Just be glad - instead of submitting your flashes on so many game sites the owners do it themselves! All you gotta do is sit and look at how your views go up.

No idea if it works - I've never tried developing anything for AIR, but the theory looks simple enough (turn bitmapdata to png/jpg encoded ByteArray, save file out with extension...)

You are a LIFE SAVER! This is exactly what I needed! Thanks a lot!

I have an interface where user can create his own piece of art, and I need to be able for them to save it on their computer. Just hit the button "Save" - window opens, you select directory and the png appears in your folder. Sounds simple, but it's so hard to do. How do I do it?

Also note that I don't want any php files to be integrated, as the program I'm making will be offline - that means the user can open it from his desktop and save on his own computer.

I'm making the flash for an Adobe AIR project - so it's okay if any XML, etc. files are integrated with the script, just make sure its an offline process.

I said "no php" because as far as I know there's no way to integrate with php files offline unless you have a server installed. Correct me if im wrong!

Thanks in advance!

I've made a project on human brain for school the other day, and I remember that when people are in love, the critical sections of the brain are turned out - that means that we don't see anything bad in the person. I dunno if it can be called love, but whatever.

Deep thoughts... trolls Posted May 11th, 2010 in General

We all have a bit of a troll in us. People just love annoying/bothering other people, but why is that so?

For example, probably everyone has experienced this pleasant feeling when they set up a prank or farted in a friend's cup. Why? For the lulz.. What's so funny in that? I dunno, but it is.

"A troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."
- Wikipedia

It's so much fun to ruin somebody's online game by spamming/teamkilling/breaking the rules, it's so much fun to annoy people on forums and make them anger even more - just by reading this sentence you can see how wrong it is to be a troll. But it still is funny for some reason.

Why is human brain made like that? For survival purposes? It has to have a purpose, an explanation! Because, you know, everything has an explanation.

Now by reading this you probably can fully understand, that there's a slight, but a very important difference in peeing in a pool and peeing into a pool.

i am very high, yes

You have to eat everything in right proportions, including meat.
Can't you vegetarians just shut the hell up?

Just because you "love" animals that much or for whatever reason you don't eat meat, go ahead and don't eat it, grow up as a weakling, but just don't whine when are you feeling not too well and don't go around the streets telling people to stop eating meat - keep your shit to yourself.

Meat is important - whoever thinks otherwise obviously doesn't have a clue about what they're talking about.

I bet most of you veggies stopped eating meat after you watched some stupid ass TV "health" show or read some idiot's article on the internet. People believe in so much bullshit nowadays!

You're about to get many strange looks, young sir.

What I actually meant to say is that I prefer to eat meat without any bread with it, just plain meat - not sandwiches or hamburgers... with some salad... and potatoes... be right back.

There is no good argument for eating meat, really, and many many benefits for not eating it. Ie. reducing rate of global warming, being cheaper, not causing the needless deaths of many hundreds of animals, not causing animals to spend their whole lives in terrible conditions and so on.

Your statements are so goddamn stupid for so many reasons.

Eating meat IS fucking necessary - we can't get all the necessary nutrients just by eating vegetables. Go read a biology book. We have to eat ALL types of food in the right proportions. Human is and always will be a predator. That is nature.

All vegetarians are fucking stupid.

That guy is so fucking dumb. People are predators by nature and we need to eat meat. Some people are just stupid enough, so it's okay if they don't eat meat - let them die out.

Ideas for blog? Posted May 4th, 2010 in General

So, I've been blogging for a few weeks now, and I mainly talk about stuff like:
- indie (flash) game development,
- internet finds, reviews of many kinds,
- interesting, funny stories from my life.

I try to keep it as less boring as possible, and I'm getting more and more views now and people actually started to comment.

What I'm asking about, is what would you like to see in a blog? Here are some ideas I have.

1) Give people that subscribed special benefits - a free wallpaper/comic/some art piece/music I made, to attract more people.

2) Make more top10's and lists of stuff - i.e a top of the best modern pixelated games or a guide on "how to survive a zombie infestation".

3) Be serious, but throw a few jokes here and there - and not just any random jokes, but something related to the topic I'm talking about.

4) Write tutorials for people, release my own AS3.0 source codes..

5) Create another blog or two (with a link to my main blog) that I would only use for a topic i want to expand, for example, a blog full of my tutorials or source codes.

What do you think of these? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you read my post? It could have been better than the alternative is all. No I don't think it's a good thing, but we are discussing my Theory that it was because the alternative would suck.

I did read your post, but if there would be no wars - there would be no need to use any weapons or nukes at all!..

WW2 was a horrible thing, just like any war.

America didn't do shit before they were attacked by Japan. Then they started selling weapons to 38 countries for America's own safety. Nothing too surprising, America being a bitch. And then they drop the bombs on two Japanese cities taking away so many innocent lives just to "prove the world that we are better than Russians".

If you think that is a good thing you should get some help.
