I have a good CPU but if I'm developing a game I have to worry about those who have weak computers too.
Anyway, I always wondered how would I make a guy shoot laser beams? I mean, it would be just a line drawn between two points. One point would be at the player's gun, and the second goes in the mouse direction, but if there's an object in the way - the line would stop there and the object would take damage.
How would I do that? Loop checking each pixel the line should go through? Wouldn't that be CPU heavy? I'm not really sure, maybe there's a better way.
You have 2 loops in one function, and the collision function itself would most likely be checked every frame and applies to several movie clips... Won't that be really CPU consuming?
Just change the line where particle spawns at mouse x and mouse y to spawn at your mc x and y
Select all the frames of your guitar, and copy them. Then F8, create a movie clip and just paste all the frames in it. Then you can place it on stage and turn around as much as you like.
Books are the best way to learn. AS3 Cookbook and AS3 Programming are very useful. They can be found at adobe livedocs. Here's my AS3 tutorial blog, hope it helps!
Lady Gaga started as a piano player, she wasn't really famous, but she plays piano really nice. Then she started making the music we hear today and dressing in costumes like we see her today, because she knows that's what will make her popular, she's pretty smart.
I'm not a big fan of her music but it is okay :)

That's a typo, I meant he! Thanks for noticing. Sorry. For real...
Also, the video with the bottle came up just recently, while the events actually happened 2 years agoand it wasn't a bottle but a 'giant candy', fucking journalists
It seems good

Haha, great idea, i heard of a guy that sold pixels on his site that linked to an url you specify, he became very rich, good luck!
Now who's gonna buy 12/12/2012?
You probably wanna put that on MOUSE_UP, MOUSE_OVER, and MOUSE_DOWN listeners of the button
Hey guys! For over a month I've been running a blog dedicated to actionscript 3 programming, releasing one tutorial every day. Check it out:
http://kirill-poletaev.blogspot.com/
There are beginner and intermediate level tutorials right now, and I'll keep updating the site with more. I'd like to hear any suggestions, comments and tutorial requests you might have!
Hopefully this blog is helpful for somebody :)
Glad to hear you're learning AS3 instead of AS2. You can, as said before, take a look at some books. Adobe has free livedocs (1, 2) that are helpful. Take a look at some tutorials, here's my AS3 blog, hope it helps :)

Some people say that they can't move their character, however I can and do not experience any difficulties. What might be causing this?
FlashDevelop is good, yes, it is very strict and doesn't allow people to make shitty codes lol
Glad to see people are still writing tuts for the AS3 forum!

Yes you can, if you apply a mask to a mc using AS you can make gradients to make the visible area... AS3 atleast.
I think as long as your game is free to people its not commercial, but im not sure
