the word you are looking for is bliss

Weed and it being legal is overrated. Seriously, I think 90% of everyone I met in the US thought everyone from Holland is constantly high or something. Au contraire; I recently read about a survey which showed more people from the US tried weed at some point in their lives than Dutch people. Holland is overrated as far as that goes, I wonder what the NG'ers who went to the Amsterdam meet have to say about that. Was it as wild as you thought it would be? I talked to some old waitress/hostess in the Hooters restaurant/casino in Vegas, and she got all excited about Holland and the drugs and all. Hello, you live in Vegas, which is about ten times worse than what we have in Amsterdam (as far as I can tell after the 2 days I spent in Sin City). I don't think Amsterdam lives up to its reputation in that respect.

Also, dear Americans, what is wrong with your beers? They either tastes like water or flowers.

If we're talking about Ted Kennedy, well then *shrug* I suppose. Hadn't really heard of him until I read about his death in a newspaper in San Francisco. Are we talking about Ted?

I hope we are.

Hurray, finally back home after my 5 week trip through the States, I had an absolutely brilliant time there, it's quite the impressive country! Anyway, I'm filled to the brim with inspiration and I can't wait to continue working on my new project.

Did I miss anything interesting around here?

You should all go and see Inglorious Basterds! What a fine piece of filmmaking, much better than I anticipated. Also reached San Francisco, the end of my roadtrip/vacation. I can't wait to get back and start working on my projects again, I'm filled with inspiration and all sorts of crazy ideas.

This. I have the exact same problem every now and then, I have no idea what's causing it. I've only heard very few people complain about this issue. So far I've been able to fix it be altering the sound quality, not a satisfactory solution though. It only happens with .swf files I've compiled myself though, not with random other files.

You people are bringing back all sorts of awesome memories, I want to go sky-diving again! Maybe during my trip in the US this summer, I'll have to look into that... Also, pic of the skydive location in New-Zealand, taken while dangling in the air by parachute (grammar?). New-Zealand is a stupefyingly beautiful country and you should all go there.

Anyone have any interesting summer plans?

I must admit I don't have a lot of experience with Bootcamp and the like. But I'm pretty sure there are regs here that do. From what I gather Bootcamp is pretty stable, I remember when it first came out a Mac with Bootcamp was actually the fastest set-up for Vista, compared to machines with similar specs.

Anyway, If you want to buy a Mac laptop there's not a whole lot of choice. Macbook Pro's are the only ones they're selling nowadays. You might want to do a bit of research first though on price levels, specifications, compare various manufacturers et cetera. I personally don't think I'm ever switching back to Windows, but Macs aren't for everybody.

I did a skydive once in New-Zealand, right above two glaciers. It was absolutely amazing. Although I must say that with bungeejumping you actually feel like you're falling towards your death, it's way more intense. When your skydiving it just feels like your floating (apart from the rushing wind) because you're so far from the ground (even when the parachute opens) you don't see the ground rushing towards you.

This is true. You can however download a trial which will last for 30 days. After that period you can decide whether or not you think it's worth spending your money on.

if (Key.isDown(aKey) && facingLeft == true) {
player.gotoAndPlay("run");
player._x -= playerxSpeed;
playerRunning = true;
}

thanks icn bin habe

Your problem is when you keep holding down the key, it will go to and play "run" on every single frame. because Key.isDown(aKey) and facingLeft are always true. You could do something along the lines of:

if (Key.isDown(aKey) && facingLeft == true && playerRunning == false) {
   player.gotoAndPlay("run");
   player._x -= playerxSpeed;
   playerRunning = true;
}

I suggest you read those tutorials again or buy a book, it'll help you more in the long term. Learning AS really doesn't take too long if you stick with it and don't give up when things don't go the way you want them to. I don't think you'll find anyone here who's gonna just supply you with all the code you need.

From what I gathered from Armor Games they were slowly phasing out ArmorBot. It hasn't been updated for a while and to be honest it was fairly outdated. Why not use the Mochi Leaderboards or something similar?

That's how hitTesting with objects works. It checks to see if the bounding boxes of the object collide (you can see the bounding boxes when you click on a movieclip). You can give the hammer its own hitTesting area so you'd only test against the hammer and not the entire enemy. Or you could work with Point based hittesting. Also, a bump after 10 minutes is unnecessary, you have to give it some time.

You need to speed everything up and work on those arrows. The fighting looks kind of stale too. A good start, but still far from being a solid game.
