How about you don't do that, but in stead you go work on that Robotech Manga Movie idea and come back to show something impressive. You probably have some characters thought out, why not draw and animate one of those doing something random so people can see how this thing will turn out.

Then don't show something that won't resemble the end result. Because this is not helping.

Hmm.. Before other, less-subtle, people get in here and pour loads of shit on you: You need to spend a whole lot more time on this. You must realize that compared to other high-rated animations yours doesn't look particularly good. AS a consequence, not a whole lot of people will be interested in doing anything for you right now. I suggest you go back to the drawingboard, get yourself a good preview (as in actual, proper animation) together, come up with a decent topic that properly explains what you want to do and how you're planning to do it, and try again.

I feel for you, same thing happened to me once. I hope you made a back-up, but by the looks of it you haven't. You've just learned you should always back-up your files the hard way.

If this is a serious attempt at trying to attract some interest to your idea: I suggest you start over, because the way you write is unreadable and it'll scare anyone who might be interested away.

I'm having some weird bugs. I use AS3 but I code on the timeline, on one frame I have my menu on the next one I have my game etc. When the player dies you have all the regular 'you made it to level x' messages etc. and the player can choose to go back to the menu (which is the previous frame). Now when I click the 'go back to menu' butotn I have sound clips from previous frames playing, the framerate seems to be doubled, there are movieclips on stage that shouldn't be there etc. There are no error warnings, no nothing. Logically everything seems to be in order, I just can't think of anything that would be wrong. Any suggestions?

You want to look into masking. Basically what you do in flash is add another layer above the layer(s) with the content you want to 'block'. You right click that top layer, select mask and you're ready to go. You can draw a certain area in the mask layer and only the parts of the lower layers that are covered by the area in the mask layer will be visible.

See how you do, we made sure all the levels were pretty unique and different - there are new toys to play with up to like level 45. The Guinea pig minimizer is my favourite :)

Preloader still doesn't work over here man, and by the looks of your score I'm not the only one.

Hey, will you guys Digg this.

I actually liked both articles, you're a pretty good writer. However, I think you lack some credibility, which is pretty important if you start such a blog if you ask me. The way you write you sound pretty authoritative, but you don't have much to back it up. So if I were you I'd start working on some projects, Show some updates on stuff you're working on etc. Put your money where your mouth is in a way. People don't want to hear financial advice from a homeless person. Make people believe why you would be the right guy to start a dev blog and it should all work out.

Don't think of this as an attack by the way, just trying to help.

Early 2010, but it's been so long in the making and postponed for a couple of times so I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm no expert either, but that's because it considers the numbers in the textboxes as Strings, not as numbers. So when you tell it to add those three Strings, flash just adds them together. What you want to do is convert the content of the textboxes to a number.

I think it's pretty good! The looping doesn't look all smooth. Also, the torso moves up and down a little too exaggerated, and I think you should ove the arms around a bit as well. Other than that, very good!

Now we're on the topic of films. Road to Perdition is one of my favorite films. That movie is so visually brilliant it's almost scary. Plotwise it's not the best movie ever, it has some strange casting decisions. But holy shit, the cinematography is absolutely stunning. This scene (spoiler warning if you haven't seen the movie) and the last one at the beachhouse are listed very high in my best-scenes-ever-list. The feeling/atmosphere throughout the entire film is perfect and the music is some of the best every made for a film, I'd almost say the music plays the starring role.

Your reasoning makes no sense to me. Who says the artist included the 'vulgarity' in this piece to purposely get a higher rating? Ever thought of the fact that this may be the artist's style (which, after looking at his other work, certainly seems to be the case)? Why should he limit himself creatively to appeal to a larger crowd? Besides if you consider this to have any shock value at all you have clearly been raised in a very protective environment. I don't think a pair of tits will shock anyone who's spend some time on the internet.

I really can't tell if you people are serious or not :/

Anyway, that's a strange art style you have there... Although I highly doubt how successful a game like this can be commercially, artistically it looks very interesting.
