Well. I just started looking around at forums today, posted a few responses, and stumbled around until I found myself here. I hear... or should say read... that you guys are good debaters. Any of you do Forensics. (Not slicing up carcasses).
There's my one quick question, then I'll be leaving this thread as I probably don't belong here, being new and all.
I think modern parenting has gotten lax over the past years. Parents tend to lean to one of two extremes, over-discipline, or under-discipline. For instance, there's the parent who lets his or her child throw a fit on the field after losing a soccer game. "He's just expressing himself". No..... He's acting immature and needs to be corrected. Try and pitch a fit when you don't get a raise and see what happens. On the pther end of the spectrum, there's those who over-discipline. For instance, my mom. She's the parent, she's always right, there's never any cause to ask questions, no matter how reasonably you bring it to her. I say "I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I don't understand why..." and kids shouldn't have to approach their parents so carefully and formally about it. It should just be "Mom, why is it that..." and let that be that. If the children who are under-disciplined don't realize what is happening to them, they're in for a rude awakening when reality hits. Those who are over-disciplined, if they don't realize it, they'll pass it on to their kids as well.
On the issue of medication, some things can be too quickly diagnosed. For instance, a kid who can't sit still in church may not need drugs. Just spank him and let him know he doesn't need to be doing what he's doing. Other times, a kid may have problems out of his control. Give him medication and let him sit in the floor and color or something. PArents have to be flexible and understanding. Hell, people in general need to be that way. But I hope by the time I have children, I'll be wise enought to raise them to be mature, responsible, and wise adults.
I don't want my kids to go through a lot of the crap I've had to deal with as a younger kid. Jeez, it got so bad, that I started to get a patch of grey hair on my head in SEVENTH GRADE. I don't really think that any parent wants their kid to go through crap in life, but a lot of them don't know how, because they weren't taught, and they haven't figured it out yet for themselves.
If people could learn how to communicate better, than parents wouldn't have to send their kids to psychiatrists and counselors. The parents could find out the problem on their own (unless it is medical related) and just apply good reason to it. I think it'd solve a lot of the problems.
It seems to me that more people died of poverty, starvation, and disease under communism than under capitalism.

1: He believes revenge is the best way to sollute a problem
2: He is a fanatical christian, and the history shows that any leader fanatical to a religion soon become dictators
3: Actually, Al Gore won the people's election, but he became the president (maybe it is corruption in the picture here. Hmm... )
4: (not so serious, so dont take it seriously) He is a gigantic insult to all chimps (which actually is cute animals) by looking like them.
5: He supports Israels terror against the palestinians
6: He says he leaves no child behind, while 1 of 6 US kids (and lot of more kids in other places) live in poverty
7: He is giving huge tax breaks to the rich and trashing everyone else's economy
8: He is rejecting the Kyoto accords, that the rest of the world signed
9: He is trying to separate USA from the rest of the world, forgetting that we all live under the same heaven and in this times of globalisation, we have to cooperate to survive
10: He says things like "we are the finest people in the world", which remains me very of Adolph Hitlers Übermench. A nazist with so mouch power? Hmmm....
This is a list of why Bush sucks as a president
Wow. Well, first of all, (i found this in your profile) if you are not against the rest of the U.S., just against the current government, then why is your name theantiamerican? Our government is a government "Of the people, By the people, and For the people". The citizens are in effect the government. WE elect our government and they are directly responsible to us. The only reason the American president has so much power, is that the American people collectively have so much power, both in military and economy. If I'm not mistaken, it was you who said the world should vote for the president. Bullshit. As soon as we start collecting taxes from you, drafting you, and spilling your blood to protect our sovereignty, THEN you can vote for the president.
1. You give no proof to back up this arguement. Besides, I imagine (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that you are against U.S. pre-emptive striking. Well, if we were to retaliate against an attack you would call it revenge. Well, the other option is pre-emptive strike, or just sit on our asses and do nothing about 9/11 or Iraq. It'll be a cold day in hell before America is attacked and there are no consequences.
2. Not true. The founding fathers were fanatical christians. They cited the Bible over 10,000 times in framing our government, and I fail to see how they were dictators. (Again correct me if I'm wrong) but do you believe in evolution? Hitler did. In fact, it was what spawned his anti-semitism. He believed jews were closest to monkeys because of their height and skull structure. If religion is something one believes in, then belief in no god or belief in evolution could be considered a religion. EVERYBODY believes in SOMETHING, be it nothing even.
3. States' rights are protected by the electoral system. Why shouldn't states have the same voting power in Congress as in the presidential election? Besides, Gore tried to steal the election in Florida. I've watched video taped and listen to testimonials on the news about people stuffing ballots for Gore. In all actuality, I'll bet Bush actually got the popular vote.
4. He does kind of look like a monkey...
5. Military retaliation and camaigning against terror is not terrorism. Killing terrorists is not the same as killing innocent civilians.
6. He made that statement regarding his education program. But yes, something should be done about the innocent kids suffering from poverty ALL OVER THE WORLD. No child should have to live with that.
7. Well, the rich pay taxes as well, don't they? Why shouldn't they get a break, too? And please elaborate on trashing everyone else's economy. Our's is suffering, too. Mainly from the crap Clinton did to it. It took CLinton 8 years to ruin all the good Reagan did for the economy.
8. Do you really expect us to get to European pollution standards in that amount of time given?
9. We are separate from the rest of the world. So are you. We are a sovereign nation. So is Norway. We should not base our policies on the consensus of the world, but on the consensus of our people. e hold the right to make decisions for ourselves as a nation. It should be respected. The world has no jurisdiction over us. The world has no jurisdiction over Norway. We ARE separate.
10. Comparing Bush to Hitler is rediculous. What is wrong with having pride in our acheivements as a nation? You should be just as proud of your nationality as we are of ours.
And yes, the "sucks" bit does kind of hurt the arguement.

God never said "Thou shalt not kill". He said "Thou shalt not murder". Big difference buddy.
Waging war against regimes that support terror and are actively pursuing weapons of mass destruction is not murder. (The next sentence has no connection to the war) A lot of vegetarians argue that point about killing, but killing an animal for food is not murder, either. (But back to the war issue). No, this war does not violate the Bible.
At 4/14/03 10:00 AM, Shangui wrote: The problem with the U.S since WWII is that they kept intervenning everywhere, even if it wasnt their business at all.
Whenever our national security is threatened, it becomes our business. You know, a lot of people thought that WWII was none of our business, but thank God that we finally got involved, before the Nazis had taken over the world. Why don't people understand that if appeasement didn't work with Hitler, it won't work with Hussien? Sometimes we have to do what must be done, no matter what the cost. National security and survival is always #1. You can't worry about economy, enviroment, or anything else if you have no country left. Think people, think.
I don't mind anti-war protesting, after all, it's protected by the 1st Amendment. BUT, what the 1st does NOT protect is civil disobedience. It really pisses me off when protesters get violent because our cops have to watch THEM rather than looking for terrorists. The big crowd of people who are blocking supplies from getting to our troops need to be removed, forcibly if necessary. Hindering our troops is not protest, it is wrong.
What really gets me though, is how these people are protesting for peace, yet Saddam Hussien is waging war on the Iraqi people, killing them by the millions and terrorizing them to stay in power?
These people are protesting for peace, yet they injure police officers?
These people are protesting for peace, and yet they loot and vandalise.
These people protest for peace VIOLENTLY? That in my book, is hypocrisy.
If we are going to Iraq for the oil, and if indeed it is "all about the oil", then I have a few questions. #1. Why were WE the ones to first suggest oil embargoes against Iraq in the U.N.? Why did we fight the lifting of the oil regulation proposed by France? #2. If it's all about oil, why haven't we done it earlier? #3. Because Iran supports terror, we refuse to buy oil from them. If we wanted it so bad, we do we boycott Iranian oil? #4. Why do we support Israel who has no oil, when they go against countries who have oil? #5. Why don't we just open up the oil reserves here?
The whole idea that we are waging war against Iraq becuase we want their oil is absolutely unfounded and rediculous.
