I actually only vaguely remember doing this one. It was like, 3 a.m. , and I was super tired.

I was thinking to myself, about this fresh revitalization of feminism on the internet. I'm keen on that, but at the same time, it bugs me a little that in most contemporary artistic depictions of strong females, they are more often than not sporting the stereotypical short hair, buzz, mohawk, peircings etc.
I'm not saying those are wrong, its just that the REAL strong women in MY life (who are way more and hardcore than any of these fantasy ladies), have no need to go out of their way to LOOK like this, and STILL they get all the respect and love in the world from me and those around them. Just my two cents.

And then look what I went ahead and did, I kind of completely ignored what I just said when I drew this, ugh. Whatever, her armor is practical as hell.

You mentioned that the last two are redesigns of video game characters. Mind to share which game? Or is it something you are working on, that is not released yet?

I'm just being a sarcastic douche, but it's from Super Mario Brothers. Thanks for the kind words!

I don't have as much in the way of style or technical skill, but I'd like to think I make up for it with my imagination.
Let me know what you think. I'd like to sell these as prints on DA, but I guess I'm testing the waters first, and seeing if any of you would think that's not a good idea or whatever.

Hello again, and I apologize in advance for my selfish personal spam.

This is for any of you fellows who have a DeviantArt account.
I could really use a hand right now.

I've entered the "8-bit Challenge" contest, and I could use some votes.
Is this one of the better 8-bit art you've ever seen? Not a chance. Its not even the best I've done. However, I designed this for the purpose of being worn on a hoodie, with simplicity and style in mind. There are many excellent pieces of 8-bit art on the DA contest page, but I've noticed that many of them are simply pieces of art slapped onto a hoodie template. Don't take my word for it though. Give me a vote if you would honestly wear it. Thanks very much in advance.

Response to: NewGrounds Caricature month Posted January 10th, 2012 in Art

Dude, I think you're really misinterpreting the meaning of caricature. Even if you don't have time for anything more than a sketch, you can at least spend the time you're currently using trying to color, and better apply it to your concept and actual drawing. It looks like you're more interested in showing something about the personalities of these individuals, instead of actually caricaturizing them (I say "something" because honestly, no one here knows what that "thing" is). The faces themselves already bear little resemblance to the people in question, so I suggest spending your time drawing those instead of the rest of the portrait.

Response to: Character Design (Critique) Posted November 11th, 2011 in Art

Proportions are important, even in cartoons. I've annotated this little doodle of how I would personally design the same character. Remember, personality is of the utmost importance. Try using eyes that express emotion better. Add ears, and give the head a slightly more realistic shape. Also, if you can't draw hands already, practice. It is vital, and will benefit you in the long run. I promise. I drew a simple set of hands you may use as a reference.

Not too bad as far as general quality goes, but if you want this to stand out as ART, as opposed to a sketch or doodle, I'd suggest adding a TON of value. This means a lot more shading, and causing the shape of the character to gain a three-dimensional quality. If you 're really serious about creating mood, at least make up a solid background to accentuate the "dark" feeling. Also, you may consider adding heavy shadow, completely obscuring the form in some areas. This will cause the important areas to stand out more.

Response to: Which tablets are any good? Posted September 18th, 2011 in Art

I currently use a Wacom Bamboo, because they're the cheapest name brand floating around, and it's good quality stuff. But if you're looking for cheap AND high quality, look for the Monoprice brand.
Unfortunately, mine completed it's life cycle a few months ago, which prompted me to buy the bamboo, but it lasted me a solid three years, and it was remarkable. I'd still buy another if I had the cash.
They come in all sizes, have 1200 pressure levels, and are really sturdily made. The best part was that it only cost $30 minus shipping. $30 is an absolute STEAL my friend.

If you are bent on going with Wacom, Go for the Intuos if you can. It's pricey, but much more professional. If you want the very best of the best, get a Cintiq. It's basically a tablet with a screen, so the whole mental bridge between tablet and actual drawing surface is removed. It'll cost a whole crapton, but it is definitely worth it. And finally, if you're on a budget, get the Bamboo. Keep in mind that they sell "Bamboo Pen", "Bamboo Touch", and "Bamboo Pen and Touch".
They're a bit tricky about this, so let me explain. "Pen" is exclusively for drawing. "Touch" is an overpriced external trackpad. "Pen and Touch" combines the two. Now, if you're serious about art, you'll want to get the "Pen and Touch". Despite the fact that they include the unnecessary "Touch" part, you'll notice that in the specs, the "Pen and Touch" contains TWICE the levels of pressure sensitivity. This is key.
