If you claim to be a good rapper, at least have some audio of you on your page. Give people an idea of your flow so they just don't blindly giving "whack" rappers a good instrumental.

I left everything the way it is because I never use them. I always use audio clips and vst's I've downloaded myself. I have those folders bookmarked when I go to open a file in my generators, so it's all easy pickings there since I organized my samples into like 10 folders. They range from melodies, full songs, instruments, percussion, breaks, voices, ect.

I've been using FL 7 for the passed 2 years. I completely hated 8, but 9 is freaking revolutionary. Though I still don't like having to hold right shift in order to cut things, everything else makes up for that one little problem I have. But everything else makes up for that because the program is finally CPU friendly. VSTs that I use in 7 & 8 that made my CPU go to hell can now be used with ease. Definitely worth buying.

You obviously don't have any good reason to hate Rap. You're just acting off opinions. I vote Yes to locking this page due to lack of a valid argument.

Oh you. White people can rap. I know plenty of sick rappers who are white. It's all about flow, not about material.
Did you honestly just say it's not about content spawn? You of all people? lol

Yeah, I did say it was about flow. Cuz really, if you look at a lot of people nowadays, you can rap about almost anything. But as long as you sound good doing it, that's all that really matters. UNLESS you're trying to give off a certain image, and say something out fo the blue.... like 'Used to sell cabage back on Rune Scape' while trying to claim that you're a notorious gang member. That doesn't appease the Gods of Rap. :D

If you need quality beats, Old Skool' section is the way to go. Modern has too much people who sound the same. You can find a few good gems in both sections though.

Rhymes aren't what I'm blocked with. I just wrote some sick shit last night. It's production that I have issues with atm. It's just to the point where I've done so much that I'm just out of ideas.

I have to agree. I have about 10 people who vote zero on my songs daily, and even that wrecks my scores. It being on a much larger scale can be catastrophic towards scores. Especially since we get like 50 views on the main audio page, as Chronamut stated already.

Forget anything I just said about collabing. I type here before you all asking for a collab now. Anything, or anyone. I don't give a damn if you make country ffs. I just need some form of motivation.

BTW, I do maketh the Hippity Hops, but I'm very versatile. I'll be accepting PM's until 6 PM. Then I'm off for the day to get into some tomfoolery while attempting to destroy the universe.

That's what makes it much harder for me to do something since I use techniques most people never thought about using in FL. Well, most people on this site at least. It's kinda hard to use only the audio / automation clip section in the playlist window to make a whole song.
pfft no its not - thats called collage song making- look harder war-spawn - those that really know how to use fl can pretty much use it in any way imaginable ;)

That's not the situation here. Everytime I try to collab with a new person, it's always like...

"How do you do that? Wait, what does this knob do? Oh shit, I just over compressed whatever you just had and accidentally made it very muffled. Not only that, I accidentally stretched out your samples too long to try to make it fit 170 bpm because 85 is too slow for me because I don't know what metronome is and blah blah blah."

Besides, I don't work well with others. I lower morale, smell funny, and I'm bald. Not very likable, am I? lol

Of course it's more fun to make my own. I was also expecting a cookie for actually considering asking you guys since I'm about as active as a sundial. Thing is that this isn't some, "Oh, I'm out of ideas and I don't know what to do next" type of thing happening here. It's more along the lines of, "I don't even know what else to do because I've made so much" type of thing.

Inspiration is about as bland as it gets, because I feel that I've learned so much that I can't even fathom what my next step will be. And besides, I appreciate other genres, but I don't really enjoy listening to a side chain every beat. But that's just me.

I haven't had inspiration for the passed few weeks. Well, months actually. So far, I think that my main problem is that I'm trying to do too much in a song. And usually, if one thing doesn't sound right, I scrap the entire project. I don't know if it's just my taste in music that I lost, or I'm just not inspired enough by anything anymore.

So, I'm here to ask...

How does NG's Audio BBS deal with writer's block?

Demos made easy :

1. Take a clip from the full song, probably about 30 seconds, and use that. Fade in and fade out.

2. Make a really lo-fi version of the full length song. And when I say really low, I mean like 92kbps type quality.

3. You can also have your main melody as a solo, or with minor percussion, and let that loop for a bit.

Hope I halped.

Honestly, there's only one thing I can think of that no one has said here yet. One thing that I'd think you might need is to affiliate yourself with other rappers. Get insight from them, and pretty much learn the basics on flow / voice tones / recording / etc.

On a more serious note.

For quality, try to get yourself a preamp. Then get yourself a Sennheiser mic or something, those are usually top notch quality. As far as your voice goes, it really doesn't matter anymore. You could do something like Nerd-Core, which is shit that Del The Funkee Homosapien, MC Chris, and MC Paul Burman does. It's never a bad thing to rap about what you like most, and for those guys, Sci-Fi rap does them pretty damn good.
