2k_rammerizkool> i hit refresh 100 times. i had nothing to do so i counted. it never came up. when i tried logging in, i hit rehresh 20 times and i nvr got in. whats up with that???

Some people are hitting the refresh button too often at it slows down the server for the rest of us, it was probably because of those people that your 120 reloads didn't get it working.

Evenyone waiting to see entries under judgement that aren't on the first portal page could click the "view all" link below the portal entries, which would take you to this page:
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/list.php?which=mr&order=date
There should be 175 flashes to blam at the moment, or maybe even save 1 or 2.. naww. 1.

Response to: DNS Updating Posted January 19th, 2004 in NG News

* Flash movies and games are loading okay for me
* The flashes are loading now
My location is Finland, time flashes started to load without problems was 17:00, your time: what ever it says above this message minus 13 minutes. Voting is still disabled. Guess it's all about the time of day different ISPs happen to do their DNS server update.

Response to: Portal Down Posted January 18th, 2004 in NG News

Doesn't work in Finland at this moment.

I got a nutty idea for a different TOP-50.
Since the votingsystem kindof encourages pointhunters to vote 0 or 5, we might enjoy another kind of top 50 that can be directly controlled by active users.
It would work by constructing the top 50 from flashes that exist in people's favorite animations list.
For example:
- Love Hine simdate -appears on 2 people's favorite list so it gets score of 2
- Arfenhouse teh movie too -appears on 90 people's favorite list so it gets score of 90
I would suggest that placement of a flash in someone's top 50 would not affect score, so that people wouldn't have to spend hours trying to sort their entries in the correct order, unless two movies share the same rank.
How about it ? I've already rebuilt my top entries, not so sure about the correct order tho. Except for number 1.

Naw, life doesn't get any better. Your body starts to decay faster and you are irritated by younger people to the point where it's not even funny anymore. But you'll make less wrong choises with age or if you haven't learnt anything during the years, you might not have to worry about getting older.
My main consern.. I'm 30, I still look like a kid, my profile picture doesn't but it's not really me. The problem is, the women start to look older at 30 and my preferance for young girls hasn't changed. So without anything changing for me, I become a "dirty old man" for liking chicks, there's something wrong with that. I don't mind slowly turning to dust, it's the bitches falling apart that makes me worry.

I think the

Poll should be reset now, write down the number at the moment.
If I see a flash animation load with that guy stretching his asshole to widescreen -side-to-side- I want to blam that piece of crap and not wait untill it loads.

Response to: Portal View Format Change Posted July 30th, 2003 in NG News

I've never met a malicios script/program that warned me before popping up xxx windows.
Tough call to say which is the best, if it's not too much trouble (of course it is), let's try the new/old way for a week or 2 and start another thread or poll to decide if all the hard work was for nothing and go back to the current system.

Response to: Pictures in reviews Posted July 26th, 2003 in NG News

-Users found doing this may have their reviews removed

Could I get my reviews removed ? I haven't drawn handbirds but have made some pretty nasty reviews. I'm on medication now and the voices in my head have gotten quieter, so I could use a clean review slate.
Permission given without further checking. thankyou.

Response to: Warning to spammers Posted May 25th, 2003 in NG News

I guess endorsing Outwar would merit an IP ban as well...

So I'm guessing you don't understand how dynamic ip-assigning works for people that use modem, cable or adsl.
If that spamming bastard reconnects and spams 10 times, we have 10 banned ips from that Internet service provider, blocking who ever gets that address next.

Response to: AOL Blocking NG? Posted May 8th, 2003 in NG News

While we're not on the subject, here come the:
NG Improvement requests.
When I'm writing a review for a movie and it gets blammed while writing it, the review cannot be saved, even if it exists on the graveyard.
If I try to give so encouragement to a flash artist, when I can see their flash is going to get blammed soon... After the movie get's blammed, my review is not added to my profile page and I cannot see the author's response. So if I don't visit the graveyard the next day, I'll never see the response. So basically, if a movie is doing bad, don't review it.

Response to: Updates on Bandwidth... Posted May 1st, 2003 in NG News

This post is more of the same old ranting since I don't have anything better to do...sad.

<Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread, but I'll give a basic explanation.
Nope no-one reads this thread anymore. Since we are chasing naughty voters (I can't be caught) we must track people who vote 5 on everything. This is really about tracking people who vote 0, not about naughty voters. I'm more conserned about NG being swamped by crap animations and that has already happened. What your aim to providing safe haven to crap of all caliber is your business of course, whether it's about giving people a chance to have their flash posted or NG being able to say: We have over 1 million animations. All this rewarding people with points is making them vote even if they don't feel like voting, just getting those points home. Voting points do get people to come in every day, even though the user profiles http://www.newgrounds.com/users_profiles.php hasn't worked for ages. So you say people voting low on around 50 flashes show up on the list. Does this take into consideration that I have correctly voted on 1727 entries in the past 30 days ? Having 50 misses for me is easy, I vote 50 ever day. My real point here is, don't protect crap, if people vote 0 on everything, let them, the rest protect it if it's worthy. Just to repeat what I already said: top 50 would look a whole lot different if we weren't rewarded for voting. but whatever gets you off. Personal request: I want to have at least 20 favorite animations, 50 would be better.

This is really off-topic and this thread will be deleted by tomorrow. I don't want to bother our master with E-Mail which they get hundreds per day. sick.
I was watching silversow's profile (yes you are being watched) and checked out his reviews. Now seeing reviews is all good but the reviews have no link, name, ID, to what animation was in question. I saw a comment about a hitler daemon and ofcourse I had to see that animation, but there was no hint as to what the review was referring to. So one of you fine folks that bother Tom&Wade with constant taunting mention this to them, I'm probably already on their blocklist so resistance is futile.

Response to: Updates on Bandwidth... Posted April 29th, 2003 in NG News

The speed has indeed improved to utilize my reasonable 512kbps line to the fullest. Wasn't just a temporary thing.
This post was hard to understand on my soft brain. But I gather that you have 2x 100Mbps lines, one of them has several servers, joined in a HUB or a router ? and the other 100Mbps line has the used-to-be-an-adserver alone.
What made that slow to understand were these 2 lines, from last 2 mainpage posts clashing with each other:
1)Due to a policy change by our provider, we can no longer just hook our machines directly into their pipe - we need to use a router as the go-between.
2) So basically, we have a cluster of servers connected to the first 100mbps line, and a SINGLE server with the second 100mbps line all to itself.

Response to: Updates on Bandwidth... Posted April 29th, 2003 in NG News

Hey Tom. It's now NG's peak hours, when my speed is normally 18-118 kbps of my 512kbps. Within the last 24 hours something has happened, now I can download 524 kbps of my 512 kbps. (not a typo)So yes, a MILD improvement. Still getting alot of "Server is under extreme load" but when it works, it flies.

Response to: Friendly Reminder Posted April 25th, 2003 in NG News

<<In other news our 2nd data pipeline should be installed either tonight or tomorrow! We hope! :)
Will this in addition to waiting 20 secs for the movie to start loading, download stopping in the middle and download never starting-
Reduce the: Error the server is under extreme load at the moment - while trying to view an animation or voting. Or is that a matter of processing power ?

Response to: Friendly Reminder Posted April 25th, 2003 in NG News

awww, how am I supposed to know how to vote if I don't watch the animation. Looking if the filesize is more than 300KB and checking if the author has previous submission still listed is just the thing to determine between 0 and 5. Of course if the rumors about a speedier connection are true, I might have to try again. (I feel really loved now)
I've voted correctly on 1423 entries in the last 23 days. I should be nr.uno on the s-list, if so my profile should get a credit like Nr.1 of the S-List. like probably top reviewers do, weren't all blams though. This is all a trick to gather love and to get my profile clicked, so do it. It's like Outwar. I love Outwar flashmakers.
Just remove blam/save points and behold the fair people.

<Stevia fiber is extracted from stevia leaves, and is very sweet. While eating it plain isn't as appealing as sugar, it actually works very well as a sweetener in drinks and whatnot.

If you can't use it for brewing, then it's not fit for use. I for one do NOT sweeten my beer with sugar. I'll try that now, though seems like a fruity thing to do to me. Maybe I'll throw in some yeast and water as well, should keep me going for a while.

Response to: Audio Portal, FDA, and more! Posted March 3rd, 2003 in NG News

Some of you may think we had forgotten about the Audio Portal.

Yes. Now for something completely different.
These changes I would like:
1) When I'm reviewing a movie and it gets blammed while writing it, my review is not saved and all my crafty abuse is lost forever.
2) There is no Review this movie - button on the page after voting, so I have to risk the terror of not getting a point while writing a review and the movie goes off Evaluation period. sure i could use the back button after voting, but review link could also be on the page after voting.
3) Why can't I read other peoples' reviews after posting mine or after voting, when the movie is still under judgement ?
4)I have now saved/blammed 6136 flash entries. Since i'm such a sport, I would like to have more than 10 favorite flashes. Currently 20 favs would suffice. This way people who mistakenly trust my judgement and view those flashes might get to see something they like. Going through the old-portal is tiring.

side note: If peeps wouldn't get blam/save points, movies would get voted on fairly instead of 5 or 0.
If there is some point for rank then let's keep it, but is there ?
Sure having rank brings people back to blam or save a lot of stuff, but if NG is becoming too popular for the bandwidth, removing save/blam points would certainly decrease traffic. (I'm kindof a point Hog myself)

Response to: Newgrounds Bandwidth Posted February 22nd, 2003 in NG News

Bandwidth means how much data, how fast - the system can push out to people (and take in).
33kbps modem = bandwidth = 33kbps.
So i don't think removing crap entries that no-one watches would improve anything.
The Portal is what consumes the bandwidth, not the old forgotten entries.
Solution: sell house, buy more bandwidth.
or just make a mirror server in europe or zimbabve.
Or maybe it's all the animated signatures, I would never use one..

Response to: The BLAMming Club:Enemies of CRAP Posted November 20th, 2002 in Clubs & Crews

My computer is acting up again!
It no longer shows 40 pages of new entries in the portal.
BLAM Club was made to clear the portal of crap,
I trust we haven't been blamming the good stuff, thus killing the portal ?
(Me:> 2633 Blams, 751 Protects)
So, behold my allmighty Save The Portal Icon.
Can't blam that I'm afraid, only flame it.
It's all fine and good that the crap is gone, what is not good is that there is no longer nothing interesting to see, also most links now show: Error there is no movie with that ID, crap, what is that ?

I personally would like to see the ranking system gone. I wish to see movies voted on their true quality instead of making sure my vote will be the correct one, by voting 0 when it would be worth a 1.
or giving it 5 when it should not get more than a 3.

The portal might not gotten blammed though, just people voting alot to rack up those points. Which is ok.

Still hoping you'd add: View public profile to the login page.

Response to: New Poll! Posted October 24th, 2002 in NG News

Many of you may have noticed the new poll by now! Are there any burning questions on anyone's minds? I'm open to poll suggestions!

-
You might make a poll-page, filled with good, neutral, mindless polls. Then you'd see what polls people like to take and which ones they don't want to touch with a stick.
Example polls:

worth something:
*) Should your public profile be viewable from the Sign-In! page ? (no profile-search needed)

neutral:
*) Will you be deleting your old characters from EQ1 when Everquest 2 comes out in 2003

mindless:
*) Do you think cow-tipping is ok and a valid hobby ?
(I do)
