Zuberi - Hell's General
On the day Jesus returned to heaven from Earth, He spoke of preparing a place for humankind in the heavenly kingdom.
But as long as Zuberi (the most twisted of the angles to fall from Heaven) exists in the void of Hell, Heaven will never be a safe place for humankind.
His routine assault corrupts him further and further, as his mind grows more maddened and twisted from destroying Angels in Heaven, and mad Demons rampaging in Hell.
Due to his limitless power, no entity in Heaven or Hell as yet to destroy him. Thus giving him commanding power over the realm of Hell that he exists in. Even Satan has difficulty suppressing and controlling this Demons power. He sits for the time being as Hell's general awaiting his next order.

both awesome work btw! it's because of TomAzza's submission I decided to try this out so I can test myself. Then with Razac's BG.. man this is good stuff.

I guess I'll comment for real on this.. >.>;
I wouldn't call it all that.. in fact I wouldn't call it that at all.
I'm still fairly new here and ever since MC came in and "moderated" our storyart forum I was like.." who the f- is this 'MindChamber' ". After laying low posting my work and observing I realized he is a respected artist here that has many people that will agree with him on what he thinks/ says (and for good reason too).
Instead of working my way up, I figured I'll start by showing someone very influential here what I can do and work my way down.
My art isn't prefect (even the Anime) but I think I can perform a lot better when competing against other or trying to prove a point. Overall it was a good learning experience and a great drawing exercise.
Actually when you think about he still can think I traced the realism drawing I did (though I didn't ) because the drawing I did was anime. But what I does show it that I can realize certain concepts on paper.
And I will continue to show that I can realize certain styles to paper / CG as I continue to improve my skill and post here. The realism drawings will come, but for now COW#30 is calling me... o_o/;
I am also glad something I did inspired you to "Take It To The Next Level" PL, as I will be doing the same thing from here on out.

Entry preview, a rough sketch still not sure what I'm going to do with that left arm.
This is all good stuff. I think I pretty much got what I was looking for.

argh.. I though I got it with the anatomy part but after reading this, and looking at the picture.. I'm back confused -_-;
or is this the originality you meant?
so.. If want to have anatomy pretty well in sync with actual people it can never be original?
Heh.. let me guess.. I'll just have to see where it takes me?

If you are an incredibly talented artist, then you would actually see you own style in the character you drew, but from what I have seen, many anime characters look similar, even when they are from different artists.

I'm going to use my pal RTIL as an example. His art style has some similarities with anime, HOWEVER, he can draw pretty much anything. He's a good artist who can draw a whole variety of styles and it shows in his work (which is always top-notch). And through that, he's found his own unique style of drawing and animating.
At 5/30/07 02:18 PM, MindChamber wrote: Judging by your men, and your anime faces. but once you understand anatomy, you will be like.. "oh let me try this" and then slowly your style will change on its own.. but right now.. you are without style,. because you are learning to draw thru anime. so yeah everyone will say your art is unoriginal because as of right now , it is.
Yes this is all true.
But! As you mentioned
but from what I have seen,
and
he's found his own unique style of drawing and animating.
also
and then slowly your style will change on its own..
So here's my next question:
At what point do others view another person who does Anime work as original?
How far do you have to steer of the Anime road? Until it's not even Anime at all?
I agree it's is good for beginners but I also believe it can be taken much further as well.
and yes progression is what it's all about!

All I'm saying is, try new things.
An artist is not someone who simply draws the same thing over and over and over. If you can only draw one thing, then you've worked yourself into a corner, that unfortunately, it seems most people can't work themselves out of.
Yes and artist is not someone "someone who simply draws the same thing over and over and over"
however..
Don't get me wrong I mean in general.. "people (me, but also not just me) drawing Anime on the NG BBS" for whatever reason and being stamped: "unoriginal".
through art classes I've studied many different styles or trying to imitate something (a style) I've seen somewhere.
My large still life, and abstract colored pencil, paintings, and shades sketches from those classes are way too big for my scanner >.>; I would have to go to Kinkos or something to scan then in and show them here...
But yeah most (not all >.>;) of that stuff are objects or animals -_-;
Maybe in the near future.. i'll get em' uploaded.
At 5/30/07 02:34 PM, cmkinsac wrote: When you are creating your anime drawings, you compare it to the anime style instead of the human body. That is the problem Mindchamber just explained.
guess I should work on some still life then? any sugesstions?
So tell me something...
Please note:
I'm not looking for a flame war or insults.
I'm not looking for attention.
I'm am looking for intelligent answers.
It's posted here and not general because it's geared towards fellow NG artists.
Read the whole thing
The vast majority of you fellow NG artists categorize Anime as by default
"Unoriginal"… why?
How can an art style be automatically: unoriginal? Because it has been done?
Many styles have been done.
Ok I can see how It can be if the person is drawing some other persons characters.
But!
How can an "art style" be automatically unoriginal?
Yes it's an art style
And some comments I have read say it takes no artistic skill? -_-;
It's kind of insulting.. Because I believe the stuff I do.. which is mostly Anime style
because I enjoy it.. cannot be done my someone with "no artistic skill". -_-;
Some stuff I did
Anime characteristics as defined by Wikipedia :
“Anime features a wide variety of artistic styles.
They vary from artist to artist or by studio to studio.
They are generally characterized by detailed backgrounds and
stylized characters in a variety of different settings and storylines,
aimed at a wide range of audiences.”
Again I ask..How can something so broad in range be automatically unoriginal?
If I'm missing something here please tell me >.>;
With proper shading and backgrounds Anime takes as much difficulty and time as the
next style does.
You can do it well or you can do it half-assed just like any other style.
If the vast majority here thinks Anime is unoriginal..
then is Abstract unoriginal too?
What about Pointillism?
Because that's all been done too.
Some people here say they hate it because it's used too much.
Well.. no argument there >.>;
But I don't see how it makes it automatically unoriginal. Or taking no artistic skill.
What do you think? Yes you! I want to know what you think! Post a reply!
Below is random picture I did not too long ago

Finally got time to get this line art done
Left shoe was giving me some issues
it still needs work -_-;
it looks a little to much pixilated but those brushes in photoshop aren't as forgiving as in flash ; ;

I've seen screens of this game and the characters, more or less, look just like you have em' in the drawings.
by the tone on your text it kinda sounds like you ought to have come in first?
For starters, you should (from a relaxed artistic approach) compare and contrast your artwork to the artwork that finished 1st.
