I can't tell you how I've seen some of the top 100 of all time submitted under judgement in the same day that I saw some of the worst animations on the entire internet.

And hey killerbunny or killer elite or whoever the original poster is, that's cool you're doing that my friend but you don't need to update us on what you have written. You are already doing a service by writing the reviews.

The follow feature is interesting, but being a fan of an artist should mean that they are already followed. So basically in other words we have two streamlined things that function as the same thing, why wouldn't you be a fan of someone you follow?

Never used a follow link.

At 11/26/14 06:05 AM, Senmetsu wrote: The review section looks like the comment section for youtube videos..

Agreed, there are a lot of poorly written reviews that aren't quite heartfelt or honest because the whole "hazing eachother" situation also helped to boost our skills by shit talking the other in the form of criticism. But people lost sight of the "criticism" part of reviewing on NG, because you're not using a 5 star system to say you like or dislike the work (or what have you), it's what you think it deserves and what you critically analyze it for.

Some people just left it at, "GREAT! Keep it up!" which isn't much of a review but is still a review of praise. Verse this with, "awful af disliked" which harks back to the old thing mods did when people left reviews as shitty as that.

Don't get me wrong, offensive review is stupid, satirical review is great. You have to know when you can make a funny in a review, back in the day people just took a shit on the keyboard and called it a review. Comment sections are and always will be sort of bullshit unless it's a good debate or discussion, which hardly happens without a troll now.

Has the culture of NG shifted because of other cultures on the internet? Has youtube, 9gag, 4chan, reddit, etc, changed us as users to where we turn a blind eye to stupid reviews? This is just commonplace and ok?

No. We shifted all cultures on the internet. We changed how it all worked.

Well, not sites like Albinoblacksheep or YTMND, but screw them.

We also made shit reviews a popular thing too actually, but this is an undocumented reality + fact.

But it's boring forever playing a guy. Any game you take it's always a guy. When was the last time there was an option? Any cool game and you have to play a guy. It's always a guy. Girls always get cliched roles (look at ad). The only 'girl games' are cooking, dressup etc. What about the other cool games like the featured games. It's just always a guy! Can't it be a girl?

Here's the deal. Your imagination makes up the main character of a lot of games. So don't the writers and teams behind games. I never found a strong role of a female lead wrong or profound. Instead I kind of hoped that there would be more in gaming.

Games don't "throw" in options for male or female unless they're catering to that particular demographic. And while it is silly to think women never heard of desktop tower defense or Age of Empires, I think it's also random to really give a crap about who is "playing" the good guy -- even there, the cliche of "good guy" exists. Protagonist, the whatever - typical games put you in the seat of a determinate gender because it's a demographics thing.

Think a little outside the box, pretend the player doesn't HAVE to be either male or female. Especially in a tower defense game where that doesn't make much sense anyway.

Well seeing as this is your first post here I should point you in the direction of the "Collab" feature, it's not a forum thing.

But now that I see your first post I feel like you're either a really sarcastic person, or you want to make life impossible

She is NOT a sorceress

So no WoW

a mage, a healer, a diviner

No Final Fantasy

an angel, devil

Castlevania

slut, a school or like related individual,

I like how you combined these two, so no Faye or Kagome

a housewife, a cook, a maid, a shopkeeper or assistant

So like 55% of the role of supporting females in stories, gotcha, no NPC allowed here

a damsel in distress, a daughter looking to save her father (or family)

So the interesting combination of the two with an interesting plot twist, gotcha - we'll throw away that idea too

a cook, a wife, a whiny baby

these 3 aren't "like related" to the whole "slut/school" thing, is it? if so, you disgust me

a cutie pie

Because looks can be deceiving! *

a girl waiting for a man or men to arrive and save the world

You know, the plot of Castle Crashers, because that plot isn't
key to this website or anything

a sad frail deluded thing, insecure, crazy, maniacal, persecuting, unsure of herself

something tells me you have never considered internal struggles as part of the dramatization of story telling, because that is what generally makes a character of either gender interesting

a girl who sees the error of her ways through the guidance of a man or woman

So the guidance of a human being, gotcha!

a girl who needs to be put in her place

Because a woman putting a man in his place would never sell, right?

a girl fleeing from trouble

As opposed to a girl causing trouble

a girl forced into to doing something she doesn't want to

Exploitation is the word you are looking for

a guy who was accidentally turned into a girl or vice versa.

Here's the thing friend. You basically chronicle this list of "what-nots" for the 'character' of the game. But then you talk about it being a tower defense game. Have you ever noticed that character backstory is not always what makes the game interesting, but the details surrounding the game that make it worth the discussion?

I think the fact that you kind of have to point out all the archetypal cliches that surround women, mostly your analysis of concluding that random genres of women and how they cannot be the character you are basically writing about just simply cannot "be" the game.

Well my friend, tower defense games are not -just- about the characters. It's how well the game plays out. And if the game sucks then nobody will care about your random heroic female lead, as ridiculous as it being who you DON'T want the female lead to be.

Dude, fuck no. I don't want to drown in either gender's genitalia.

Anyway, I don't mind it in our society. I view it as fucked up, immoral, and totally inane - like anyone that realistically practices polyamorous relationships/sex has no constitutional fortitude on the basis of trust, because they believe in their weird mind that, "it's okay as long as it's all consensual! Trust and love! No hate. No jealousy!"

What you are admirably practicing is a devolved state of being, an inexcusable cry for help in admitting that you cannot trust yourself. Your biological tendencies are fused with practicing things that are dogmatic to your being. You know, like I said, I don't mind it if you are like this. But you should understand that a desire and expression to love and trust all those who love and trust you is more or less a game in its own, one you are likely to not win.

All it takes is just a little misplaced trust in the fellow people you love "mutually," and then...
