This was so worth the wait. Awesome job! As far as I know, you're welcome to post it other places. It's your art! (As far as I know, I mean, some people posted them on DA...)

We are making final adjustments and tweaks to the flash board and flyingmonkey is currently putting everything into place.

Get excited everyone! Do the WAaAaAaAave! *is shot*

Sorry for the double post. Here's a few I've finished.

Igor-Frankenstein-monster-thing. Really don't know who it's supposed to be.... Rar.

You all should be ashamed- I don't see one generic ghost! Not a single one. So, I took it upon myself to draw one. This was litterally just drawn while I waited for the flash file to upload, so I don't think it's really good.

Finally, Mr. Grimhimself! Here's the updated version of my first submission... yeah.

That's all I have finished. If I get time, I might have a Haunted House and 5 pumpkins done... but I doubt it.

Response to: GRIM - art collab Posted October 26th, 2009 in Art

Grrr... Anyone know a good, quick file hosting site? I'm finished with the .swf and I need to send it over to flyingmonkey. But, the file won't upload anywhere! On Mediafire I'm stuck at the verification screen, and at Megaupload I get an 'undifined' error.... <_<

Also, I'm almost done with my art, on an un-related note.

Response to: GRIM - art collab Posted October 26th, 2009 in Art

Well.. That is because I sent you the whole file, and not the export. When exported the file is only 214 kb or so. :)

Ooooh! I see what you did thar. My bad, thanks! :)

Response to: GRIM - art collab Posted October 26th, 2009 in Art

OK... problem. Lundsfryd, the intro file is too big (21.83 MB!)! Anyway you can compress it? Sorry I didn't notice that earlier...

As soon as that detail is fixed then the Flash should be done... :)

1. Awesome Lundsfryd! Now I can finish the menu. You get a cookie.
2. It's no problem Flyingmonkey (As said earlier). I'm be PMing the file to you soon.

Response to: How to form a collab? Posted October 24th, 2009 in Art

First off, you may want to read the rules... :)

Second off, you have to have a 3.5 batting average for your flash and a solo submission of (I think) 3.5 or greater to start a collab. Or you can PM a mod and say please and they MIGHT let you start one.

Response to: GRIM - art collab Posted October 21st, 2009 in Art

OK, there seems to be a lot of confusion about what's going on, so here's a post explaining it all!

What dis?
The GRIM Art Collab is a art collaboration celebrating all things creepy- just in time for Halloween!

Who's doing what?
Genocide went missing in action, so here's the low-down of it all:
Acedareaper is the organizer and 'art-overseer'; he's picking out who and what makes it into the collab.
Flyingmonkey456 is programming the flash and putting it all together!
And I'm just here to troll. And I'm helping out with creating the art for the flash. That works too.
This has somewhat turned into a community project, with help from folks like Raenaenae and Lundsfryd, too!
Finally, most importantly, YOU are making the art!!

When dis goin' down?
Art should be submitted by the 26th. On the 27th everything will come together and the final Flash will be submitted shortly after.

What's da catch?
Basically the same Genocide made:
- Dimensions: 350x430 (Sorry, no exceptions)
- SUPER IMPORTANT: NEW BACKGROUND!!! SWAP OUT NOW!!!
- Make sure it's Hallow'een-ish/grim
- Give us a brief statement about yourself/your art, please!

Anything else?
Yes, sign up hereto make an Easter Egg for the collab! 3 spots left!
Also, we are still looking for Audio Artists! Here are 2 entries we've had so far!

Anyway, that's all I can think of... Don't hesitate to drop any of us a question. We don't bite... except when there's a full moon...

Response to: Knocturne's Art Posted October 16th, 2009 in Art

I really like your art, it has a lot of style to it. I guess on the 'criticism' side I would say to work on:

- Anatomy. Every style of art has proportions. With your 'long neck' theme, make sure that the body and head are well proportioned with it. (Such as the girl in the 1st drawing).
- Perspective. The sketch of the girl one the rocks looks like it's a pile of rocks in the back, and a sloped side-walk in the front.

I still love your art though! You're not afraid to think outside of the box (like your sweater picture), and while anyone with a little work can learn to draw, it takes creativity to become a true artist! And you are well on your way! :D

<3 it! Personally, I'd prefer it! I would not mind the least making a new flash board. I'd prefer doing it in a hallowe'en-ish-y-whatever style than in the GRIM style presented anyway(no offense, I love the style, it just isn't 'me'). I'll drop flyingmonkey a PM to see if he minds. But I still think we should wait to see was ace says, just in case. So, let's wait for the 'OK' sign, but everyone, be prepared to swap the bg out, just in case. ^_^;

At 10/12/09 12:03 PM, ReNaeNae wrote: I have a suggestion though... as much as I like the background texture... I think the like 'grim collab' text/splash on the bottom right is going to present problems. It tends to jump/shift from one image to the next (depending on how the artists saved their file).

Would it completely suck to clone it out and have everyone repost their image with a new 'clean' background? (Hopefully people save their original/unflattened files and it's just a matter of swapping the bottom layer).

This would also allow us to change the name AND the color scheme (no more pink/purple). Thoughts?

I agree/disagree. The logo does present quite a large problem, the colors are odd and it changes constantly from pic to pic. It was challenging to come up with something for the background that would fit. I think when Genocide made it, he had a unique idea that no one can re-produce the style of with the same results. So, I would LOVE for the logo to change so I can be more creative with the flash board.

On the negative side, so many people have created some submissions, and it would be hectic to try to get all/most of them to correct their images to fit the new bg requirments. Not only that, but I'm not sure if Flyingmonkey would mind having a new blackground (I'm not sure if it would effect his work or not). I'd be happy to make one, however, if he's fine with it.

So, not to be redundant but, thoughts?

Acedareaper is gone until ~tommorrow, so we should let him put in his opinion before we jump ahead, BTW.

Response to: In What Order do you make flashes? Posted October 11th, 2009 in Game Development

Most of my animations/ideas for animations start as random doodles. I draw something random, and if I like the way it looks, I create a story behind it by drawing pictures of what had/will happen before/after that picture. It's kind of an un-organized way of storyboarding, I guess. Then I'll rummage around for good sounds and music that fit with what I'm working on and FINALLY get around to animating it.

But sometimes, I just open flash with only a general idea (Clock Day, a certain song) and just go crazy with nothing real in mind! XD

^^ Awesome! I'll go check it out now...

Concerning the dim: Obviously I was going to add an animation leading up to it! It would look stupid otherwise, I was just trying to get the idea across! Sorry I didn't make that clear! XD

Concerning the newest layout posted: I think I was going too safe of a route. I've changed it more to its original version, with some compromise for the image for the main nav.

Concerning the background: By popular demand, it's now purple-ly-ish (it still changes tones)! I also fixed the transitions and shades to look more natural and not like a seizer waiting to happen. XD

@ flyingmonkey- I'll leave the transition for the dim up to you then, since you have an idea! I'll go ahead and PM you the flashboard considering I've finished the buttons and such. I'll PM you the transition between pics later.

Anyway, keep these pictures-a-comin'! A member: EASTER EGGS!!
