I
In a world where all was decided
By the power of speech,
One man was set apart from the rest,
To save mankind from certain doom...
A man named Morgan Freeman
Roamed the land, comforting the afflicted
With his reassuring, all-powerful Voice.
Wherever someone needed a voice
So powerful as to grant instant persuasion,
The call was made to Morgan Freeman,
And he appeared, lending his rich rhetoric
To all in need.
Never was he met with a challenge
He could not meet, nor a role he could not fill,
Until one day his kind demeanor was challenged,
And it become one of ice and steel.
II
The day arose, but in place of the Sun
Rose a light even brighter.
The light belonged to the Grendelins,
A race of creatures from the farthest reaches of the Universe.
The light temporarily blinded the people and angered them,
And although the Grendelins were unsure
Of how to handle the citizens of Earth upon arrival,
They soon decided it was best to clear the Earth
Of inhabitants before they were attacked.
The humans were terrified by such a threat,
So they called upon the most powerful weapon
Known to man: the Voice of Morgan Freeman.
And he said, "I will go, for wherever there is a conflict,
I will be there to resolve it."
The Grendelins agreed to see Morgan Freeman
Before the killing process began. He calmly walked in,
And launched his attack:
"From the dawn of time, humans and aliens
Have coexisted peacefully. And now, simply because
We humans feel threatened by your presence, you have
Decided to annihilate us. Well, I'm getting too old...
If you want to extinguish our existence, then go on
And press your detonator. Stop wasting my time."
The aliens, of course, did not press the button,
As they were so taken with the heartbreaking
Sadness of Morgan Freeman's Voice.
And so we see the power of speech,
Always to outdo the threat of pain,
When put against Morgan Freeman's words,
Violence in the end will yield no gain.
