Either way, busting Tom's chops about it in his FP Newpost, seems the only way. No telling if any of the staff who code the site, see what gets written here in the old Where is/How to section. Tom's the ram-rod, and hopefully he can get the staff busy taking risks, and putting in the time (and doing it on the same page, not just the same server!!)

I've played it too, but can't place the name!
Try here http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/search/games/house/6 and keep looking down the higher number pages... I spent almost an hour looking, and not just that keyword, but a bunch! I don't think it's that old, but pretty dern close.

Could you cut and paste the error message? Sounds like a weird one! Have you made dead certain that the file is limited to 15 MB and sampled at 44.1 kHz? What software did you use to make the mp3?

Hasn't it always been down to this.

History repeats itself... The turn-of-the-century NG BBS, went from crazy to bat-shit crazy. At 797 pages, I think this qualifies somewhere in the discussion (if any). When NG started allowing YouTube embeds (and making NG more visible there), we started to attract their rejects, I think. What do I know anyway, I mostly stuck to IRC instead of Forums/BBS' back then anyway. Sporadically lurked up until 2 years ago...

Hope the Publishing System update goes off without a hitch. Adam-Beilgard's Choir ala Newgrounds, is picking up steam, but still needs moar participants to yowl into the mic :)

I was pleasantly surprised by an insightful newspost Celx-Requin published yesterday, and the responses it received.

It got me to thinking about evolution, and what Luis said about being bold, taking risks, adjusting things more frequently... Would it be possible to extend the Latest Submissions list to a total of 75 (approximately, an even 100 would be sweet)? Like a lot of seasoned users, I like to see a shit-ton of titles on one page, without having to scroll around excessively.... and to see the bottom of the UJ list for a place to start watching/voting.

Another thing... could you move the pop-up thumbnail to the left and add the text description to the right? I noticed that the thumbnails all line up over the center of the links, no matter where you hover... maybe make more use of the horizontal space?

Oh I know that's true (I got a FF tool that does that), but the same goes for almost all internet users, thanks to the information the major ISPs and social networking sites are "encouraged" legally disclose, with no probable cause whatsoever.

I am simply not happy, that they use our tax dollars, to develop and store databases from every web address they can find.

This thread hasn't been bumped by a Mod for one reason: this isn't a nebulous Political subject, it's about what our government has been doing for several years. They're not just hoarding data, they're analyzing us individually!!

They're just following orders, just as your ego deemed it necessary to hurl childish insults.

How many countless Americans died in our past, so this sort of intrusive oversight by our so-called representative government, could be avoided? When I arranged for a hotel room for Pico Day, the companies that control the money, made damn sure I'd see a shit-ton that hotel's ads, a full month after my credit card was accepted. If the system can do that, what sort of other programs and algorithms are out there? Can they file me (or you) into a higher security risk, and on what grounds? Where is the accountability... for any of the recent government scandals?

I don't have the answers, I'm not tech savvy enough to how much data they can store and analyze, or if there's any lawful oversight. If this sort of data collection began before 9/11, and was made public by someone from a branch of national security, there would be an uproar akin to the turmoil of the 1960's. Nixon was ruined over less data, than a ten year old cellphone could carry.

There's no good that can come from this sort of surveillance. At the very least, it will damn any good intentions they might have had, when they first proposed this collusion. They just get the metadata of the phone call itself. Things like what number called what number and how long they were on the phone. They use the data to link people together.... like terrorists, supposedly.

Can't say I'm thrilled, but it's not as big a deal as everyone wants to make it out to be.

Absolute bullshit! They have records of what every American citizen says or does online, because all the listed companies are interconnected, especially Microsoft (what's your OS?) and Google, which make up a vast majority of any online users experience. What right do they have to spy on us? Who's watching the watchers?

Your IP address is as good as a name, since you have to pay the internet bill in someones name. "Unlike the collection of those call records, this surveillance can include the content of communications and not just the metadata." -- http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/06/us-tech-giants-n sa-data

This goes beyond what the Stasi did by leaps and bounds! The only difference is, our government aims our fear towards terrorists... then they'll say they live next door. As it is now, people disclose more personal information about themselves and others, than any Authoritarian state could ever coerce from its populace... its citizens, its life-blood.

I've been told by two folks who've worked for AT&T, that there is room at each of their major network centers, that can only be accessed by a key-card and are explicitly off-limits to any employee. That's where the NSA keep their interception tools running day and night.

Having those 7 major companies basically divert data to the FBI and NSA, is no different than the US Mail scanning your mail then analyzing it. Maybe even altering it to further their future plans, or lose it altogether.

The Brits pulled this shit when we (America) we a bunch of pissed upon colonists. Without redress, we asserted ourselves to attain freedom from tyranny. If they don't get this shit straightened out, post-haste, something very similar is going to happen.

I use pretty long passwords. Unfortunately, NG (back in the day) didn't, but somehow kept a record of it.... I found I only needed to type in about 2/3rds of my password to log in, and that was fine. A big rule of thumb was to never give out your email address unless you implicitly trusted whoever it was meant for. There were database hackings left and right, companies got sold and their info got sold off to data miners... the late 90's was a wild time for the internet, and you usually only got 1 (one) email address per account (web based email was still a new concept, and almost all of them charged by the month).

Then, during a re-design (2002-2003), they bought back extended password protection.... and I forgot the rest of the password AND changed my ISP! Years later, I found an old password list, then, I was back in business.

I never left NG. I just voted my one vote (as an unregistered user) and moved on.

Verizon throttling? Seems very likely, from what 2 techs told me today :\ Node-overheating is a factor... But Google's over-reach might be a factor as well.

Totally different topic... If you aren't a supporter (or a supporter who isn't logged in), you may have noticed some pages on the site (ie game pages) are using a grey layout like the store. Do you prefer the site this way? Been pondering stripping the colors out of the page elements and just going with grey - it seems to make the content pop. During the redesign, Wade used to complain that the front page looked like someone took a shit on it and Rob used to say we should style the entire site with the store colorscheme... Were they right? Is it time for a change?

I thought we were going to vary up the background pictures... I clear my cache before I log in (to keep CPMstar from tracking), so I really haven't noticed the blandness you describe.

This came up due to some quirks with our CSS that made it difficult to run dynamic skins while retaining a variety of page layout colors, because it's all wound up so tight at the moment.

.... if the code can't accommodate something, then yeah, pare it back, but the color coded thing should stay on, at least as a highlighter of sorts. Bad enough the Favorites thing is broken (at least we had one week of uptime), and the multi-comment glitch is... well, it's better, but you can't refresh a page and comment again :\ you have to navigate elsewhere then come back to comment again (which I suspect is the reason why the Favorites and Updates thing isn't working).
