Works great off-peak hours, but sometime after 5PM on the East coast, slooow.

We should go back to loading smaller versions of the images in the Art Portal... It's just nice to have the big one already loaded when you want to view full size... We should at least consider compressing things to a really high quality JPG when someone uploads a 1+ meg image.

Yeah, I remember those days, be a shame to go back to them... wouldn't that double the number of Art Portal files on your end O_O? If nothing else, add a button (maybe full-screen) so the image fits in browser window. Some of the scouted artists upload these 5MB+ monsters, and when you click on it, you get about 2% of the image on screen.

Surprised at the excellent culinary venues listed so far! Enough to really dig down in my ancient past... Barth's Burgers. Yup, that was my favorite place, but not to vicariously eat of course. That Nickelodeon show was a true blessing growing up, and considering the content, not surprised those pussies at Viacom won't even acknowledge its existence >:(

Nice update to the NG WIki, maybe you could expand on Unity and HTML a bit more here, because I'm an old fart, and have no clue about this witchcraft.

Hate to say, but I'm getting (really) tired of the low speeds Verizon/Cogent are using to get Newgrounds out. What about the people that live in the middle of nowhere?

Let's hope they read the packaging before they got home.. otherwise, they'd have to spin right around, and head back to someplace with WiFi, and hope it's secure. I imagine a few public libraries (in the extreme stix) will have a very few kids booting up their game systems there, after Christmas.

I still remember when a friend of mine had a cable connection to his Sega (through a cartridge adapter). Took forever to upload games, or do anything, but for a short while, it was the baddest thing going. At the time, there were only 2 other regional cable companies doing it... guess the trial-run failed.

Tom's the only one with an edit button, better to leave it at that. Proofreading is key.

Advertising would help Newgrounds in the long run. Maybe even an ad-share thingy with other similar sites... It's up to our members to get the links out, and promote the site :\

Not certain. but I think he had a heart condition over a year ago, that damn near took him out of the game. He's doing better and is honing his craft here. Really like all his work, especially his early stuff, that was more or less non-fiction. Basically, he got a real job doing this :)

I didn't realize you could also embed stuff from the Audio Portal on your blog (and elsewhere, perhaps), that's pretty solid! Be nice if you could do the same with Art.. when you click on an embedded NG picture, it takes you to the original submission page... get the artist some page hits. If any of you do go to a movie, and happen to not want to throw something out, leave some change behind for the minimum wage folks, who clean up those sticky, spunky, slippery floors :| The stadium seating in modern movie theaters, are made to be cleaned by leaf blower. Below the seat, are plastic, curved pieces, designed to funnel the air forward and down, so everything can be blown into a big pile in front of the screen. At 11/24/13 09:14 AM, TomFulp wrote: Reviews for obituaries were an accident with the redesign launch, would still like to have those be visible so it's on the long list of fixes still.

Bluh, hope the staff can nail a fair amount of these glitches/fixes before the end of the year.

For example this week I registered a domain name that could become a pure adult site. We could start by mirroring the adult content there

So, Newdgrounds wouldn't work, or is this a new name?

That's the sort of thing that would be necessary to get off the blacklists that block us from even getting on the radars of large ad buyers. It could be a real win-win because it could make a lot more money for ALL artists on NG and NG itself could prosper. Artists could wear their tank logo shirts in public without people thinking they're promoting a hentai site (although those people were usually the ones searching Google for hentai when they stumbled across NG). It brings a level of compartmentalization to everything that ultimately gives us more flexibility.

It just sucks that the age filter isn't dependent on the sign-up birth-date listed... searches and what can be displayed can be linked by rating, yes? Wouldn't that be enough to get the big advertisers back? I'd hate to think you'd have to go through so much work shuffling files around, and basically making a new site.

On the topic of OFFENSIVE games, one thing I have been thinking about this week is the tone of how they are presented. I've been picturing a site where you need to have an account for X months before you can browse the content, at which point the content is served without ads and in the context of a historical archive. Basically an outsider wouldn't be able to read a sensationalist article and instantly go get offended, they would have to have an account with a waiting period and would be approaching the content in a different context than when it is viewed on a popular / ad-supported site like NG. It would allow the serious discussions to take place without being something the press can rub everyone's faces in.

Yeah, that sounds like a club, which could grant some 'plausible deniability'.... is there anything else like this on other major sites? Seems an odd concept these days. Just sucks being a registered member here isn't enough... although, you could filter content by whether or not the visitor is logged in/member.

Tom's stuck his neck out in the past for authors/content providers since the very beginning. Earlier this year, Nintendo sent him a list of a few hundred games to take down, lest he be sued. He didn't fold on all of them, especially since it seemed to be a blanket list of everything that had 'Mario' in the title :|

YouTube and Facebook (and the 'blame laying' press) are just too big to feel... humane, or accountable for that matter. Ah, things have gone downhill since 9/11... I saw all kinds of submissions on the event, hours after it happened, good, bad and indifferent. What's different now, is the stigma we are fed by governments, mass-media, and the corporations that feed them. Freedom means we can get a bloody nose from time to time, and not a nanny state or a constantly revised rulebook of 'acceptable behavior'.
