I'm on Verizon, and while certain files flew like shit through a goose yesterday, the stuff from the Art Portal ran about the same... now, everything runs nice and fast! You should've tried overclocking those modem cards, back in the day...

This is a big win for Newgrounds, thanks to the staff for all the hard work! As Tom says, it might take another few hours for the planet to adjust to the change of service :)

Response to: Cliff the Gap Leaper Posted January 15th, 2014 in Collaboration

I've only animated on paper, and long ago. However, here's a sketch segment for anyone without one.
It's got promise. If someone does use it, just credit me, I don't need no ad-rev.

A long stick enters screen left, a few feet above the ground. Eventually, you see a guy walking the very long stick/pole over to the gap. He throws it up in the air, and it lands at the bottom of the gap, with a few feet to spare at the top, as it eventually leans against the left bank (after banging against the right bank wall).
The guy picks up the stick and bangs it on the gap's bottom, to test its sturdiness. The guy runs off screen to the left, then runs even faster to the pole, grabbing it and vaulting towards the other side, with enough momentum to get there. Halfway across, the pole falls straight down, as if caught in a bottomless golf ball hole.

It might have been done already. Maybe I saw it in a cartoon like the Pink Panther, or the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.... or Tom and Jerry for that matter.

I was so damn anxious to make an account, after about a year of lurking... all the names I had in mind were taken! Sure didn't want to add numbers to my username... at the time, this was playing on cable. The movie itself had a wild, free spirit that totally reminded me of this site.

Strange! The swf's and streaming mp4's seem to blast straight through, no problem (fuckin' yay!), but the pictures in the Art Portal are almost as slow as they were before.

I still can't understand why the IP's can't charge Netflix more, or bump them into a premium corporate/commercial account...

For my part, I was a bit thrown by this article on Net Neutrality, though I suspect Tom's read the same news... At least I won a medal the other day, thanks to Verizon's purposely slow connection to Newgrounds (along with Netflix, the crux of the crisis).

Looks like something a kid would love to get in the mail each month. I used to do the Columbia House mail order CD's and cassette tapes, and proof sets from the US Mint. So, before I was even 18, my credit score was high enough to get credit card offers in the mail :\

Wouldn't get anything like that nowadays... except for Omaha Steakhouse, vacuum packed pieces of meat, yay!

Yes, I've watched Red Dwarf in the distant past, and got a kick out of it's setting and premise. A show with writing like that, probably wouldn't make it on air these days, and it just goes to show how things have changed in the mainstream media.

Electronic abacus, basically.

The computer has always had a lot of "Nerd" Negativity in the old times, However today the term is technically abolished among a simple acquisition of even non-computer related basic skills, Did you ever grow through the old times?, Did you ever notice the transition?

I guess a few years after desktop publishing, and video games got past the 4 bit stage, it became more mainstream. Computers used to take jobs, screw up personal information, and send bills (still do!), so there was a definite hatred for his machine early on. The stigma of 'solid state' devices, that were anything but, also took time to refine, then accept.

The computer has existed for us almost throughout our entire lives, constantly changing just as everything else, What do you think would be the biggest change to come?

Quantum (entanglement) speeds and connectivity, coupled with an escalation of the e-war now underway... IDK. But as I used to say last century, we'll be programming 'this' device for centuries and millennium to come, with stranger and more useful purposes.

Tom kinda covered this last year, but I'm with you - there has to be a way to get more and better advertisers on board, as well as making the 18+ thing legit, without having to split the whole site up.
