Did you grab a stogie like Grub-Xer0? After talking to Stamper about smoking, I thought it better not to indulge. Dude, you're a hoot in real life, was a genuine pleasure to meet you... and to steady the ladder, but you were cool. Some of us were quite swizzled by that time in the party, and I pictured the bloodiest brainsplats I've seen in the Art Portal, should peril befall our drunken selves...

If you want a good and incident free party, invite smart people! I read about a guy who had a party, where something unpreventable happened, and set a sagebrush fire on a farm in Texas. The closest firetruck was 45 minutes away and the wind was starting to pick up. A neighbor had a broken dryer outside his house, one of attendees brought his truck over, ran a chain from the dryer to the hitch, and dragged it around the edges of the fire, smothering it.

Certainly there's a backlog of features and improvements, that need to be made to the site. I had no idea our thumbnails were too small to be seen by the other mainstream sites, so I'd say Tom and liljim are prioritizing what few resources they have, rather well.

Unfortunately, Tom and I didn't speak at length, so I never brought up the possibility of bringing in telecommuting NG members, qualified to tackle some of the sites' outstanding issues. But for the most part, it's all about the little guy getting his stuff out. In the military, the men on the ground come first, and NG is no different. The staff of NG are on the ground, not sitting in an office... well, they are in an office, but they're members of the site too, not just admins.

And what about that guy who came really late to the party (kinda uninvited, I think), the one with the short beard, curly hair and 3 flash movies? We must've acted like total snobs to him, when he walked up to us on the sidewalk.... I led him upstairs, kinda worried and cautious. He was too skinny to be packing heat, at least. What was his username?!

Late Sunday night I finally hit the fridge to break out that cake, but it was someone's diner leftovers. Sorry for meming but THE CAKE WAS A LIE.

Nooooo! See, this is why I wanted to bring 6 cakes instead of 4, but transportation and refrigeration was such a bitch. Ah well, I didn't have any either. Next visit, I'll bring another :)

Now I'm starting to worry 4 Asterix 'albums' aren't enough, they should be there by the end of the week. I put my phone number on your office address, since I can't find the office number on NG anymore. In 2003 I dumped my ISP (along with my email address), then I starting using my cousin's computer. The problem? NG went through a redesign. After the transition, my long password was necessary to log on. I used to be able to enter 8-10 characters of my original, submitted password, and that would work! Half a dozen years later, I found my old password sheet, and remembered the whole string of characters and numbers...

I really did not want to make another NG account, especially since it took me over a year to make it! I eventually saw that Tom was an upstanding citizen, and wouldn't let my email get hacked, sold or scammed. Back then (pre-2000) your ISP gave you one email address. If you wanted another one, it cost, just like all the other mail services out there. Then the free accounts showed up, but there was a catch: they owned the content your email. Now all web-based, free email is subject to whoever runs the business.

I asked Tom about how much a lifetime supporter tag would cost, he didn't answer the question. I guess it goes back to when he was debating private capital, over austerity measures/supporter upgrades (he chose the latter)... It's more democratic to have an even playing field, so no one feels left out. I'd much rather donate to an ad fund, to get the word out... MORE ADS!!

Response to: Rant: assheads who use adblock ng. Posted April 20th, 2014 in General

I figure my crotch supporter upgrade (the red highlight to the left) offsets a certain percentage of ad-block users. And for the folks who get a limited amount of bandwidth each month, I'd say it's a smart move. A lot of ppl in the US get an unlimited amount of data from their ISP, but the trend everywhere else, is to charge a set amount of GB's per month.

I don't even have Flash activated, I only unblock it for NG, and streaming TV shows off dubious servers. I'm running a 11 y/o laptop with 1/2 GB of RAM :\ I have to right click like crazy, to get a low CPU playback, and if there's ads, I just set FF's CPU priority to below normal, so the Flash plugin can bypass running ads and gifs in the background. Nah, the Senate and House have to want to change. If we start rolling towards DC, the army would lock it down... they have satellites, and keep tabs of what's said online. No mass protest would happen without DC girding it's loins :| Would a mass march on DC work? Good question. Could turn into an awful bloodbath though.

I only ask, that you take this question seriously, think about it. Our freedom and constitutional rights have be in question before and more so since the patriot act for a small example.

It's those presidential executive orders that's the problem - they can lock anyone up for any reason, if the establishment should feel threatened. Constitutionally, we the people have the right to put down our current government and start over again, but it seems unlikely, considering the massive oligarchy we have now.
