Response to: Do Girls Tend 2 B Better Animators? Posted April 15th, 2011 in Animation

Artistic talent is either natural from the way one is raised or gained through practice. For example, if one's parents have them doing creative and artistic things vs. math and reading they will be "right brain dominant" and naturally artistic. Obviously, if one is raised this way they will also get practice making them even better.

Science.

By judging only where the industry is going with each I prefer 2D because more surrealistic things are done. To me animation is creating what cannot be created in Life, and that surrealism is what makes it great. Lately movies and shorts in 3D are just too realistic and lack the surrealistic creative flair.

The blackwater lead animator has some of his work and WIPs on Adam Phillips' site FYI.
From a video game, has graphic content so I linked off youtube to bypass over 18 verification.

The two main parts of a story are the conflict and resolution, everything else revolves around those two elements. The great thing about making trailers and such for animations, movies, etc. is that showing the conflict is the only thing you have to do. Throw in some jokes and some action with lots of cutting between scenes and you have a wonderful commercial that gives absolutely no information that could have negative affects.

A wonderful example.

Work hard on that ^^^ and stop wasting time making useless stuff.

Trying to restore this thread to it's former glory:
Skip Cycle WIP
Done in around ten hours. I originally had light colors on the left of the skirt and upper body but removed them because they did not flow together well. I left in the lighting on the legs and shoes because they flow better and are minute. I wanted the angle to be interesting and I think I managed.

I may or may not finish. The xmas flash I started 3 days before christmas was, for obvious reasons not finished in time, so I am not working as much on it. I modified it to not be christmas themed and therefor this cycle is no longer needed.
