I still don't understand how they made a game set in a Miami clone city, and made your character die if he tried to swim.

Off topic, but why the hell did they do that in Red Dead Redemption as well? I don't care that it was set in a desert, there was water in that game, and it was ridiculous that the hero would die instantly if he got his feet wet. Hooray! I get to play a gay cowboy that's afraid the waters gonna mess up his hair :\

I don't know what they'd do about the guns though, since it'd be kind of retarded to have a single character a bunch of ranged attacks and few melee attacks.
Well I think a character from Gears would make more sense than, say, Master chief. At least the Gears games have a lot of blood and gore, while Halo has almost none.

That and the Chief (well... a Spartan anyway, I forget her name) was an unlockable character in DOA4. If it is someone from the Halo series, I would almost rather see one of the flood.

Yokumashu must have already forgotten about Stryker! He was all about guns and grenades. Granted, he was a crappy character, but they've done gun toting characters before is my point.

I didn't get too much done last night because I was learning how to unwrap a UV map (don't ask I don't completely understand what it is either). This is the first basic texture that I made, I'll be refining it more today, but first I need to learn about applying more than one material to an object. Right now the skin looks completely plastic because it uses the same material as the face mask. I want to be using two separate materials, one for the mask, and one for everything else. So, it's back to researching blender for me!

In case you didn't notice, I'm finished with the modeling of this guy. Next step is textures, then rigging it with a skeleton so I can pose it.

I think it's cute :3 Just look at that face! It's adorable! You did a really good job with the textures and the overall model. I'm digging the fuzzy thorax(?) on it.

The pose needs a bit of work tho. Right now, it kind of looks like you took a picture right after it tripped over something. If you look at pictures of spiders and tarantulas you'll see that the middle parts of their legs sit above their body when they are standing in a neutral position.

Hmm... Maybe put a person/robot/alien on the walkway? That could always be interesting, and it would break up the symmetry of the piece a little. Maybe put it in a pose like it's walking/reaching towards the light.

working small can prove to be waaay to difficult/fustrating, so maybe work a little bit bigger.

That is a surprisingly obvious thing I never thought of. I should get a bigger sketch pad, I have notebooks around here, but I don't like drawing on lined paper. Thanks for the suggestion! The costume was really fun, and really useful once we got to Freaknight. My friend was wearing a generic slutty costume so I couldn't pick her out of the crowd, but she was easily able to find me by looking for the lit antenna :)

argile: To date, I haven't completed a single human model, lol, so no I can't say I've done even a complete low poly character model (like in PSX games). This is sort of my first foray into 3D modeling, I've messed with it before, but never really did anything with it. I've done more in this past week than I've done in the years since I've known about Blenders existence.

More. The ears look funky right now because the shapes for them aren't finished. The nose looks to long to me. The lips... I am dreading the lips. They're just roughed in here, and they are going to be a pain in the ass to get looking right.

Well, you've automatically gotten farther in the blasted program then I ever have. Most I was able to do was figure out a few of the short cuts and all.

I tried blender a couple years ago, but I just couldn't understand the interface. I checked it out again a few days ago and it's been completely updated, it's so much easier now :)

The face needs more detail, at the moment it just looks like a big, roughly face shaped blob with triangles on top. It's hard to see what's going on here.
