The original button in the menu, the one that has on it gotoAndPlay(framewithmovieonit);, because the replay button takes you back to the start of the individual video.

Ok thanks for your help. I think I should be able to work it all out now.
Thanks to everyone who replied. Great forum, amazing people!!

Meaning that when you release the button, something happens.

What you'd want to put in between to move between frames is;
_root.gotoAndPlay( "frame-number" );

If it's a stop-button;
stop();

if it's a play-button;
play();

If you are not aware of it already, you just burned yourself.

What you are saying has not helped much or answered my question. I know basically what
event handlers and buttons do, but I need a tut giving me a bit more comprehensive info other
than if its a play button play etc etc. I am sure you very good at this sort of thing. But I am not.

may help me do the following! I want to put 4 short flashes together and show them like this..
First whole flash preloaded, No problem. Then I would like the viewer to have a choice of
4 play buttons. Each button plays flash and finishes with a replay button. If viewer doesnt wish to see a replay they can exit back to the choice of 4 buttons page. Sorry to sound dumb but I am an artist and not an expert coder. Is this type of viewing called an interface?
I have seen a number of flashes displayed in this way and I am sure there is nothing really complicated involved. (I dont even know how to make a replay button). I havent been totally lazy, I have scanned back quite a few months of posts on this forum and have not found anything. Probably because you cant find something if you dont know what youre looking for.
Sensible answers not involving the words retard or idiot would be appreciated as I am already aware of this.

I learned most of it by myself but used a lot of help from books. Flash tutorials also help.
Could you recommend some good books?

Macromedia Flash 8 Bible by Robert Riendhart and Snow Dowd.
Thats the book I use, I got it sent to me from amazon books. Its very good and covers a lot of things
incl animation and action script. In that book they suggest if you want to learn even more actionscript
(theres a lot in that book already) then get a book called Macromedia actionscript bible.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for both the replies, this submission had between 4 and 5 thousand views when the remove button disappeared. Ironically my most viewed flash is one that took least work and had naked in the title, basically a load of rubbish. Unfortunately I havent reached the high status of being able to ask
Ng to take one of my 150,000 views off the site!! Oneday.......

I have noticed on my flash submissions page that one of my submissions has not got a remove
button next to the edit button. It also happens to be my highest viewed work. Has that got anything to do with it or have I a problem with something else.

Posted: 03/31/09 06:09 AM

Forum: General

When I lived in England, I lived next door to a metal detector expert called Ron. He was always finding old coins of all different types on the beach, even Roman coins. He told me that he had introduced another
neighbour (where he lived before he was my neighbour) to the world of metal detecting and that particular person apparently (I believe Ron) found one of the biggest, if not the biggest haul of Roman
coins ever discovered in Britain. Ron also intoduced me to the Metal detector and I often wondered
what it could have been to be his first neighbour. (now very wealthy). I loved my metal detector although it was an ex Ron MD, and miss it dearly as I lost it one day. Do they make metal detector detectors? Who knows......

Many congratulations to you and your wife!! As a surviving father of two my advice to you would be to invest in some wax sound proof ear plugs and dont try and be a "new man". Be like all the men of
previous generations and dont change nappies or get involved more than you have to!!!! ( Its more than worth it if youre good at ignoring a little bit of nagging like me)!!

Most people will never really understand what NG is... I don't even think most people here do. I'll try to sum it up with a front page blurb some day.

Now some light has been thrown onto why a girl (no names mentioned) who had just joined Newgrounds the other day sent me a PM telling me she thought I was an interesting candidate
for a chat after looking at my userpage. I sent her a PM telling her what Newgrounds was actually about and that if she wasnt interested in animations or music or the general forum she may be better off on Facebook or my space or another similar type of social networking site. When I told her my age and that I have a wife and two kids I think she may have lost interest in my knob because she hasnt PMed me back............Yet!!

Just do as you said...put them in the credits. I cant see that the interviewed people would want more than that. I would check though to see if they mind being in the credits. Some people may not want their name mentioned. If you told them everyone will remain anonymous then you should see a remarkable change in the honesty of their answers and you flash project, in my opinion would be a lot more interesting.

Well I know it was an old subject but I thought Id tell you what I eventually bought, bearing in mind I am on a bit of a tight budget!!
A Philips SBC MD 650 ordinary jack Microphone. It says on the box.. It is responsive 30mm diaphragm,
uni directional design, Dynamic shock absorption and comes with a 5m detachable cable.
Frequency range 50'15000hz, -72 db, 600 Ohm, 250g.

It cost 34 euros and I think it was well worth it. I tested it through Audacity and it recorded my voice really clearly without pops although I did have to be close to the mike.
The bluebell mike by the way doesnt ship outside USA.(for those who suggested that..

Wow, that must be one of the longest,well written and most helpful replies Ive ever had or seen, I give you 10.
I too need to have a perfect sound quality, because I cannot accept less. If I work my arse off on a flash, then fuck it up with crap sound, whats the point. The sound can make or break a flash, we are after all using both our visual AND AUDIO senses. If a flash could smell then it would be important to make things smell right.
I can only conclude that I need to think about buying some sort of Audio interface and then plug in a
good mike into that?? I also play bass and sax and would like to record that as well at some as I get a bit fed up with synth work which is new to me and I am stuck in the world of 4/4 (buzz synth), because I have no other reasonable way of putting sounds into a computer.
Can someone understand what I might need?? Thanks to all the replies so far!!
