Well I'm about to buy a new pc and I don't really understand much about what they say inthe PC specifications, except that 3gHz is a pretty strong motherboard and that 1056 mb RAM is decent memory ( because that's what I have ) but weak at some times. Basically, what I ask of you NGers is to explain SIMPLY what specs are important and what the various numbers mean, or to post a link to a site which explains it CLEARLY. I don't want a scientific report, just a basic explanation on PC information which I need to appropriately buy a decent pc. To make it simple I include an example and point out the specific specs that don't make any sense to me:
ANTEC SONATA II w/450W POWER SUPPLY <== just power supply so not really important
INTEL CORE 2 DUO E6600 <== I know it's a processor, but what does E6600 mean?
ASUS P5B-E Socket 775 <== motherboard?
Kingston KVR667D2N5K2/2G 2GB 667MHz <== RAM if im not wrong, what's 667MHz for?
ASUS EN7600GS SILENT 256MB <== graphic card, but is 256 good enough?
SEAGATE 320GB SATA2 7200rpm <== hard drive, no problems with this one
PIONEER DVR-212D-BK SATA UNIVERSAL MULTI FORMATS 18X <==simply dvd or also burner?
