Topic: Ewqlso Gold Cutting Off Problems

Posted: 11/15/09 06:20 PM

Forum: Audio

The most likely problem is that your computer can't handle the weight that all of these VST are putting on your computer, meaning their are taking up all of you CPU. Either buy more RAM for you comp, or:

load up only ONE instance of EWSO and pick all the different instruments you want in each channel.

There should be a little green box in the upper right corner of the EW window. Move that box to "1" by clicking and holding with the mouse and dragging up. This will set the input port of EWSO to 1

Now all you have to do is create a new "MIDI OUT" channel for each instrument. When you create a MIDI OUT channel, set its port to "1" as well, and then set the channel number to whatever instrument channel you want in EWSO. Then when you want to edit that instrument, just edit the corresponding "MIDI OUT" channel instead.

This will save you greatly on RAM, and it works for Stormdrum as well. Also, if you have a keyboard this will allow you to record with different EW instruments, without having to worry about the other ones.

Hope this helped, because I had the same problem you are having, and this method was a BIG lifesaver.

Topic: Ewsog Mod Wheel?

Posted: 11/12/09 07:01 PM

Forum: Audio

Okay so (sorry for double post) I figured out why it keeps "reseting". I took a look at the visual mod wheel in the EWSOG and I noticed that whether I rolled up on the mod wheel or down on my keyboard, the visual one in the fruity wrapper always moved up, meaning when it got to the top, it would jump back down to the bottom suddenly, causing the "reseting" problem. Any ever had this problem before, and how do I fix it?

Okay, so now it's responding, but whenever I roll the mod wheel, at two or three different points the choirs "reset" with a sudden dip in volume. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong.

I can't seem to get my Axiom 25 keyboard linked to the mod wheel inside of EWSOG (NI Edition). I tried to look in the menu that came up by clicking "Browse Parameters" in the wrapper, but there are dozens and dozens of controllers, and I have no idea which one is the right one. I also want to know if it's possible to like the mod wheel to control the vibrato of the stringed instruments in EWSOG?

Also, is anything different for the mod wheel inside of Symphonic Choirs? (once again, NI version) I want to be able to control the vibrato/intensity of the choir using the mod wheel. I've seen it done (on the EW website, in their Wordbuilder tuts.), but it didn't give any directions on how to link them, it just mentioned that they had linked the mod wheel to the vibrato.

Thanks in advanced!

Nevermind I got wordbuilder inside of FL, but now whatever I type in WB doesn't play when I hit notes on my keyboard. I only hear the default sounds from Symphonic Choirs, instead of the stuff I've typed into WB. Any suggestions?

Is it possible to get wordbuilder to work inside of FL? I found a work-around, but it doesn't appear to be working. The workaround is this: http://www.soundportfolio.com/downloads/
project-files/using-ewqlsc-in-flstudio/d etails.html

but it doesn't seem to work. So does anyone have a solution?

I'm a little skeptical. I mean, it's not like the new engine is a secret, just google "Garritan 4" and you'll get the info you need. So....i'm wondering if that contest is a scam.

Just curious what do you mean by instrumentation? I guess for the more eastern countries, using appropriate local ethnic instruments (like a koto for japan) would be good, but what about for me doing America? Really, I just want to know do I have to include instruments that are actually American? To elaborate, technically most classical instruments (violins, trumpets, etc.) are from various European countries, and the only truly "American" instruments that I can think of are electric guitars, and even then that's technically just an enhancement from classical guitars of Spanish countries. Really, there is no completely American instrument, so if I use a classical orchestra, is that considered to be bad instrumentation, because I have nothing that actually came from the US?

I don't fully understand your directions. Could you be a little more specific, and give a detailed response. Also, I checked back a page and it isnt the same problem. I'm trying to record on other MIDI channels with my keyboard, instead of just the first one. I want to do it with the EWQL VST, and I already have each instrument inside the multi on a different channel. But when I go to record, I can only play the instrument that is on the first channel. So I need to find a way to record on the other channels, not just the first one.

I have a question, something that could help me save a lot of CPU: is there a way to record into different MIDI channels? I recently got a midi keyboard as a gift, but theres a problem: The way I used to do things is that when I was using EWQLSO, in order to save RAM, I would open up multiple instruments in the same plugin, and each one would be on a different MIDI channel. Then I would open the piano roll, and when I wanted to work on a different instrument, I would pick the MIDI "color" in the upper left corner of the piano roll. But now that I have a keyboard instead of a mouse, I can't do that anymore. So how do I record into different MIDI channels other than the primary one? My keyboard is an Axiom 25, and I have FL 8.

Let me know if you need any clarification/more info!

Thanks!

What do you most enjoy about the site?

The ability it gives people to share their creations over the internet, with virtually no restrictions (within reason of course)

Given one day at the reins of the site, what would you change, what would you fix?

I would spice up the audio portal. I know this site was CREATED for flash, but I just think the AP could use a little fine-tuning.

Is there anything you miss, that you'd like to see back? (I.E. Old Blam/Save Animations)

I don't think I've been here long enough to know what this place used to be like. If there used to be GOOD musicians on this site, I say bring them back, because all the annoying spammers that make 2 sec sounds of them moaning, then submit it to the AP and people actually LIKE it?!? I would rather have the ACTUAL musicians pleez!

I am planning on making a website, but I want to be a little more in control with it, instead of just using some default templates, or finding one that's already been made. Does anyone know of any good, comprehensive sites that teach HTML for free? I want to have a basic understanding of the language, but also have the ability to be creative with it. So are there any good sites out there?

Here's something that is from my Orchestration book in Composition class:

"Of course it is not necessary or even advisable that the basses play constantly; in fact, their effectiveness is generally in inverse ration to the amount they play. Therefore, a possible solution if the passage at hand seems unsuited to their technique is simply to give them a rest."

Set the Axiom to preset 15 and in FL 8 set it to generic controller type. I would also make sure that the Axiom is checked in the Input and Output midi sides, as that's how the BCF fader unit I run has to be setup to work.

cool, thanks! Working great now! Awesome.

I'm having trouble getting my axiom keyboard to work in FL 8, particularly the play, stop, etc (transport controls I believe is the technical term). I've read that a solution is to enable MMC, but I don't know how this is done in FL. Anyone understand what I am talking about, and how I can fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Topic: Axiom 25 W/ Fl Studio 8 And Ewso!

Posted: 10/15/09 06:16 AM

Forum: Audio

So it was my birthday Monday.....yay.....and a friend got m something I've wanted since I started making music, a mini usb keyboard! It's an M-Audio Axiom 25, and it's perfect, except for one problem: It doesn't work with Fl Studio 8 or with EastWest Symphonic Orchestras

Some of the functions do work, for instance I can (in most cases) assign knobs in Fl to knobs on the Axiom. However, I'm encountering two major problems at the moment:

1. The play, stop, record, loop, and rewind and fast forward buttons are all mixed up. I had followed a tutorial on youtube that gave a download for an Enigma preset file, but this didn't help me. The buttons do respond, but they are all switched, so that if I stop it presses record in Fl Studio.

2. The Modulation Wheel on the Axiom doesn't seem to work inside of EWSO. (I have the older NI version, not the PLAY version, just an fyi.) The pitchbend wheel responds just fine, and the pitch bend on the EW plugin inside of FL animates itself according to what I am doing, meaning that when I move the pitch wheel up, the little graphic of the pitch wheel in the EWSO plugin moves up. However, this doesn't happen for the Mod Wheel. I know that you can select "Browse parameters" and then find the option you want to link to, and it will auto detect the controller you are manipulating. However there is at least twenty to thirty different functions, and I have NO idea which one is the mod wheel for EWSO.

Help would greatly be appreciated, and if any clarification is needed, I'll be more than happy to give some.

Thanks!

I'll try to reply to everything using the NCP account as much as possible. but i was already logged in on this one, and i'm to laaaaazy...

anyways I'm really glad you all like it so much. I was looking at what I did, and I guess it's just one of those things where you're afraid your idea is stupid. But now I've come to see it was me being nervous. As for when the next one will be coming out, it all depends. I don't have as much free time as school starts to get into the swing of things, and I am currently at my dad's house (the mac and most of my equipment is at my mom's), but I promise I will try to get new episodes out as soon and as often as I can.

Something all of you could do to help speed things up is leave the NCP account PMs of nominations for future "Featured Artists". You don't have to go scavenging through the AP for me, just leave me a message if you happen to stumble upon someone who you think deserves some attention.

at this time please no self nominations.

Other than that, leave me anything ideas you have, and I will definitely read them. Also, spread the word! Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your dog! If they are a member of NG, and are interested in what the AP has to offer classical-wise, then tell tell TELL! Even if they are a flash artists, tell them. Some flash artist might be searching for some music, and this could be a good way for him to see a wide range of music with little hassle.

Oh, and about the length, it also depends. The site I'm hosting on only gives me so much space for files, and I also have to have songs to fill the show with (and not just one 30 minute song, I want variety!) So leave plenty of nominations, and I will try to make it so that those who want a longer show get it, and I don't use up all of my allowed space on the hosting site. If people don't like it as long, I'll shorten it up, until I find a happy-medium that works for everyone.

So, thanks to everyone, leave messages to the NCP account, and spread the word!
