Only when im remixing or not quite sure about the general mixing of a song.
Well, first off:
To properly answer this topic, you have to define what art IS, something wich can (at least the way I see it) not be done, you are going to have to define what makes art into "art".
Second:
Does it really matter?
At 12 minutes ago, Pulsar013 wrote: Hey I got a ouquestion for those trance and electronic specialists - how do you master your songs?
I usually put a soft limiter on the master track and leave it at that, I do all of my EQing and panning during the mixing faze, but thats just how I do it.
Its probably not the best way but its the way ive gotten comfortable with, i would love some more input on this, especially on how to make your tracks louder whit out the use of stonewall limiters.

I know, playing football with a hangover sucks especially if your the keeper (Goalie), I remember we once played it in gym class and a friend of mine tackled me pretty hard, damn that sucked.
So im glad im not you :D

I dunno, every time ive tried pot i suddenly get the urge to take a walk or just chill out on a bench on some godforsaken nature trail, but I guess drugs affect people differently.
Granted, im not a big fan of drugs and I do my best not to smoke, drug laws fucking suck in Norway and the cops around my parts are REALLY fucking paranoid and i dont need that shit.
I just open up my DAW of choice and start playing around with the tools built in, usually with a "What does this thing do?" mentality, and before i know it, I suddenly have a cool rhythm or synth pattern and then flesh I it out from there.
It helps if your not pressuring yourself to come up with something, you only get mad and quit if something specific does not work they way you want to.
But thats just my workflow, if I need some direction or inspiration on what type of feel I want the song to have, I usually check out Street Artists and Painters that works with that kind of style (Hip-hop=Banksy, Dubstep=H.R.Geier, Classical and chill/electronica = Nature Photography).
Also: Alcohol.
Not kidding, if you have a few beers and then sketch out something, before you know it, you have a brand new song on your hands.

Honestly?
A lot of my friends (Me included) dont really care about vocals, as long as the music itself speaks, theres really no need for vocals :)

Really? what are you studying?
Philosophy and psychology sounds like the stuff id want to study :D

There was this dude who gave me a cartridge whenever I needed to play a new song, and I just slapped in the deck and started doing crazy stuff. Funny thing is that the music was all complextro, although I have no idea if the songs were real.
Dude, thats awesome :D
I guess you COULD fit an entire complextro song into an NES cartridge if you did some programming, then again, im not too familiar whit the technology :)
The idea of song being passed around as cartridges also sounds pretty cool in and of itself, like theres also some 8 bit visuals in addition to the song, then again, we have DVDs for that :P

I've got nearly nine hours of school and 5 hours or so worth of Maths homework when I get back. Does that count?
Its not that bad, Im currently in the middle of media studys and just that is a 24 hour job full of projects and homework, the spare time I have goes to music production and drunken Newgrounds browsing.
So a 9 hour schoolday is really not that bad if you care about what your studying.
Hmm, it seems i dont have a certificate...
Oh well, good luck to anyone who applies :D
Meh, pretty much any orchestral VST/AU should have a decent violin sound.
Im a Native Instrument head, mostly I use Kontakt as a sampler and a "Hub" to store most of my presets, I also use a lot of Battery 3, but I use that one mostly as a drum sampler.
I probably shouldnt say this as a pasty white guy from rural Norway, but RZA from wu-tang clan probably is the one artist i keep going back to for my percussion.
As for melodies, probably Yann Tiersen (Strange mix, i know).
Steam group?
we wouldnt happen to have a steam group for the NG artist? i just started playing TF2 again and id love to see how y'all do.
I found theese articles on Dj Tech Tools that might help you out.

So what would you guys recomend for the perfect spec for the ultimate music making PC?
(Budgets is about Ã'£1500 or $2400)
Pretty much anything as long as you use it ONLY for music production and remove the stuff you dont need for music (Unnecessary drivers and programs).

The submitted audio will not appear when audio tags are not set right ?
The tags only help people to find more specific songs to their liking, for example:
We have a classical genre here, byt no "Orchestral" so people looking for orchestral music would have to look through maybe hundreds of pages with classical before they find the song they want.
HOWEVER: Whit the new tag system in place, one could search for "Orchestral" and song that have the tag would show up.
Drinking songs?
So, its monday, im alone, and its six o clock in the afternoon and you know what that means? ALCOHOL!
Im looking for some Bristol - styled dub/DnB to fit the mood, something like this.
Any suggestions?

No, tough this depends on what company is responsible for the coffin, then again, when you buy the coffin YOU are responsible for what you do whit it.
2.When lightning strikes the ocean why don't all the fish die?
Lightning does not strike in the ocean, it needs a conductor of wich that does not exist in the ocean, and even if it did, the energy would disperse long before any fish could be killed.
3.Why do superheros wear their underwear on the outside of their clothes?
Bad choices by the design department (also, they dont really have their underwear outside the suit, its just a highlighted area on their suit.
4.If nobody buys a ticket to a movie do they still show it?
Yes, the publisher of a movie pays for it to be shown, the cinema still makes money from the showing, but not the publisher (its their problem).
5.How do you tell when you run out of invisible ink?
When the bottle is empty (Duh.)
6.How come you can kill a deer and put it up on your wall. but it's illegal to keep one as a pet?
This depends on what state your in, im not too familiar whit US laws regarding pets (im in Norway), but as far as i know, its OK to have a pet Deer.
P.S. Im currently drunk, so sorry about the misspellings and syntax errors.
At 2 minutes ago, MisterWonderful wrote: I'm sure you guys have used programs or instruments to make a song is that correct?
where did you get those programs and instruments.
I'm looking to find a really cute guitar so I can show my hubby I can sing and do the guitar but I don't have money to buy one.
So point me in the direction of cheap or free guitars.
preferably electric that can hook up to amps.
I'm willing to save up money for one but just not that much money just yet because I need to buy a stroller.
And other stuff that takes up a buncha money. :3
Any guitar center or music shop near you should have some really cheap guitars for you around the 100$ limit, they should be fine for a beginner, just dont expect to be Paul "Motherfucker" Gilbert the first time you pick one up.
Also, if you want to show your hubby you can sing, im pretty sure you dont need a guitar for it, just sing along when a song comes on the radio or some other for of medium.
Best of luck to the both of you.
