You'll get better results there, the general forum is most likely against all forums of art except that which displays their large wangs.

Sorry, for my mistake. I thought that the other forum(Flash,Art) were for making something useful, the question I was trying to make is almost for fun.

Hello people

I want to make an strange poll. I would like to know about the best artists of Newgrounds who are below 16 years old. Why? Because I'm working with a extremely lazy artist who doesn't want to learn Flash because he tell me it is really difficult. I'm talking only about art and animation nothing of Actionscript. Who are the best artist kids for you of Newgrounds?

Plz, the B.A. of the artist must be above 3.5. Don't post yourself as the best if you don't reach the score.

Topic: Looking for an artist Zombie Lover

Posted: 07/22/08 04:17 PM

Forum: Flash

Hi people

I would like to present you my new crazy idea. It's called Zombie Baseball and it's a defense game where you will be a baseball player that will have to throw balls to the zombies to stop their progress. The gameplay has still to be really polished, but I can show you the current state so if you are or you know an artist that could be interested in the game, be free to send me a PM or an email to "contact@freecreationgames.net". Be free to test it and give feedback (please, it's in a really alpha state, so be gently):

http://www.freecreationgames.net/alpha demo/Zombie_Baseball.html

Conditions of the collaboration:

Money:
About the conditions of the collaboration, since there is a huge amount and importance of artwork the money would be split (70% for the artist, 30% for programming and music).

B.A.:
The artist must have a B.A. above 3.5. To check your B.A. search your name in Newgrounds and roll over your icon and you will get it.

Style:
I'm open to different styles, but now I'm looking for something really nasty and gory. It could be pixel art like "Mortal Kombat". It could be style similar to "The Last Stand", or any other adult style. I want to do a game only for adult, the maximum classification, I want zombie babies, zombies pregnant, your zombie mother, your zombie cousin, the zombie of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the zombie president Bush before he leaves... I really want nasty detailed zombies because I really want to cut their zombies' head with the balls.

Topic: What happens with NGAlphas?

Posted: 06/19/08 02:59 PM

Forum: Flash

I'm a little worried that NGAlphas isn't working for a long time, I remember to try to post a project around 8 months ago and it didn't work. Does anybody know something about why is not working?

On the other hand, we are only left the Newgrounds forums to ask for collabs and with real luck you can get your post in the front-page of the forum around 8 hours before it got covered by a collection of crappy posts. It's hardly impossible to create in this way new collaboration groups specially in game collabs because there is a lot of specialized work, and usually the good people who are interested in collabs don't check the forum each 8 hours.

I would like to suggest to Newgrounds staff to open two new forums (Movie Collab Forum,Game Collab Forum), where the people can post a serious collab, following a kind of template like in NGAlphas was doing. And the Flash Forum could deal only with general questions around Flash.

Anyway, It would be great to recover NGAlphas, but if it's not possible, this other solution will improve the life of some people who are looking for collaborators.

Again, the link is http://blommestein.net/

It looks really awesome, you have done an huge effort, I hope you succeed to make a great community.

The main problem is that you will never get the attention of the interested people, you must consider that only few people see this post in Newgrounds, nearly the 99% of this people will be newbies that doesn't any idea of the effort of making a game. Actually it's not easy for a newbie to work with the level editor, but I know that this level editor is really good and intuitive for me, but it's because I've experience making level editors for tile based games. My suggestion, if your idea is to get some level designers, is to try to improve the level editor so it would be really fun to play with. Let me suggest some ideas:

-Make the editor screen huge:
While it has sense to play in an small window, for the editor purposes the more you view the more easy and fun to make the scene.

-Make Tabs instead of a ComboBox:
Instead of a ComboBox put Tabs to change between the elements.

-Items with images:
Don't use words to describe the item in the selection list, use always images, a list of images make it easier to access to the piece you want to put (I'm considering that you would have done the screen huge(800x700))

I know that these changes are unnecessary because all the logic is there and ready to do levels. But it's not attractive and fun to get the attention of the people. I think if you make this changes there will me more people that would like to play with the editor.
Anyway, you have done an extraordinary work, you are an excellent programmer, keep up the good work.

HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH. You haven't met them, so you have nothing to lose for failing at flirting with them, unless they have big, burly boyfriends in the toilet and are easily offended :3.
Also, chug down a few drinks, not enough to look like an idiot, but if its balls you need; alcohol is the answer.

If even with alcohol you don't have enough balls to speak, just forget about trying it. It's true that there is nothing to lose by trying, but there are some guys that are extremely useless to make the first contact, you get so fucking nervous that instead of having a good time dancing that you begin to feel really bad and uncomfortable because you are not being able to decide the right movement. Not all the men are good hunters at the disco, if it's your case, just assume it and enjoy the dancing time, don't try to force the chat if you don't want to, just relax and enjoy your time.

I recommend to try to meet other people by trying other kind of activities, join to a club, join a team, meet more people and soon you will find other places where your brain won't be blocked to talk with girls.

In this moment two musicians has contributed with two songs, but the songs and lyrics can be added anytime because they are not included inside the game. The lyrics are in the server, so there is no limit to the amount of available lyrics, the only thing that Newgrounds musicians have to do is to send me the lyrics and the code number of their song and I will be pleased to put it on the server.

About the time, I've no hurry with this project, but I would like to finish it before September or October of this year. I'm also offering the source code of the project to anybody interested. I think it could be an interesting idea, just consider that for the fans of the songs it would be a different way to enjoy with the songs they love.

Also there is the possibility to customize the game so the mini-games can appear in the order that the musician wants, controlling in that way a little bit better the gameplay flow.

Posted: 05/13/08 12:16 PM

Forum: Flash

Hello people

I'm working on the idea to be able to play with the lyrics of the great musicians of Newgrounds community. The idea is to play with the letters of the lyrics with the song that belongs to lyric playing in the background. The gameplay style it's a little bit like the style of "WarioWare" or Four Seconds Frenzy in the sense that after each sentence of the lyric completed you will change to a totally different new game than after a line of the sentence completed. But be free to play to the prototype to get a more clear idea:

Play Prototype Newground Lyrics

Logically, it couldn't be as fast and crazy as the "WarioWare", since you must think a little bit about how to reconstruct the sentence, so sorry, but the players will have to use just a little bit of their brain power, it doesn't hurt to use it from time to time.

Actually, there are done 9 mini-games, but I would like to reach the amount of 12 or more games, because I don't want to put a deadline for this project, but I would like to finish it before this September of this year.

About the new mini-games there is no restriction about the style or the gameplay, but don't try to make extremely disgusting games. I would like to share some crazy ideas about possible new mini-games, but you are free to suggest want you want:

SHOOTING ZOMBIES:
The player will move around the screen and zombies with the words will follow the player.

KILLING ORCS:
A knight slashing orcs with the words, maybe on the style of this game

DRIVE OVER PEDESTRIANS:
Driver over pedestrian with the words that wants to cross the road.

VIRTUA COP/TIME CRISIS:
A shooting game, only that you have to shoot the characters that carry the words in order.

BODYGUARD:
Smash the crazy fans that are running to you ( some kind of Whack-A-Mole game)

BURN:
You control a match and you must burn the words that appears like papers blown by the wind.

FIREMAN:
You must put out the fire from the trees that contain the words before they are consumed.

SLAP ON THE CHILDS FACE:
Recentlly, I've played with Rayman Raving Rabbits, and I have loved on mini-game that was about slapping the children that begin to be annoying in the bus. In this case the childs will begin to shout the words of the sentence and you would have to slap them in order.

SAW YOUR BOSS/TEACHER/FAVOURITE DORK:
You control an electric saw and your boss/teacher/dork appear in the middle of the screen. In some parts of his/her body will appear the words of the sentence (a limit of 6 words (HEAD, ARM LEFT, ARM RIGHT, LEG LEFT, LEG RIGHT, CHEST)). You must cut the pieces of the body in order (in the case that the sentence has 6 words, the last word must be always the chest). Mmmm, maybe for me this mini-game is even too much disgusting, but I think that is Newgrounds community who must decide to include it or not. In the worst case instead of a real person it could be a robot or a zombie.

CONDITIONS TO PARTICIPATE

About the people who can participate they must have a BA above 3. For the people interested I will provide all the necessary code to develop an isolated game that can be used in the current game engine.

All the people who participate will be credited for the part that they have done.

I you are interested send me a PM or reply to this post and give me some e-mail address to send you the code.

MONEY, WHERE IS MY FUCKING MONEY!!!!

Finally, the game is only for Newgrounds, so no chance to be sponsored, if there is any price we would know at the end of the month in the "Best Of Month XX" and it would be divided between everybody, at least, we could get money to buy a couple of beers.

Thanks for the lyrics. Now you can enjoy with them in this new link:

Play Demo Lyrics

SMA, I strongly recommend to play on the easy level, the difficulty of the game increases when there are a lot of words, but this time I suppose that you will do all the complete song.

The good thing about the game is since the lyrics are in my server not inside the game code, so new songs can be added in the future without any problem. The artist only have to provide me the URL to their songs in Newgrounds and the lyrics of them.

Finally, I'm thinking about try to ask for help to Newground Flash programmers to include more mini-games to provide more variety to the game. What do you think about asking for this help? From my experience it's extremely difficult to get people involved, but it's also rewarding when you are able to finish something like this in team. Also it will help the game to be a little bit different from the game "Poetry". I don't know, maybe a new programmer can code a mini-game of zombies carrying the words, or a knight slashing Orcs with the words, or a car running over pedestrians with the words, these kind of games seems to be more successful... What do you think? Could it be a good idea or could it be a total disaster?

Hey, thanks for the reply guys, I've been listening your songs ("Bored to Death","I Want You","We Can Life Forever") from SMA and ("Waves of Yesterday", "O'Riley's Nook", "For Cali") from RubberBandMethod and they are great. Yes, they are totally different styles but with both I have enjoyed playing with them. I've been working in the game to work with Newgrounds songs, here I provide you the link:

http://www.freecreationgames.net/alphade mo/Poetry.html

If you press the title of the song it will appear a new browser to your page in Newgrounds. Also I will need the lyrics because I'm quite useless to identify the letters, I'm not english native, sorry.

Finally, it would be cool that more musicians can join to participate in this weird experiment.

Hello people

Recently I have finished a game where I have used lyrics of worldwide popular songs of Police, Queen, Phil Collins and the Beatles. But I was thinking that it would be cool to have a slightly different version of this game using lyrics and its melodies of the great musicians of Newgrounds community.

The idea would be to replace the current 9 main lyrics by Newgrounds' musicians lyrics and it would be great to play a reduced-size-version of the song as background music.

I would like to be a game only Newgrounds exclusive, and if there is any Newgrounds price the money would be divided between all the musicians because you would be responsible with your letters of the fun of the game.

Ah, sorry, I almost forgot, the link to the game.

I hope you enjoy.

Hello people

I'm trying to develop an experimental game idea that can be used for educational purposes. You can see all the details of the project in my newgrounds blog.

I know that it's far from a killer game application that users are looking for, but it can be interesting to do an educational project and maybe it could open the doors to other things. It's always good to having touch a little of everything to show it in the resume, and educative software is a good one.

I'm looking for a graphic Flash artist interest in collaboration, if the title get some sponsorship we would share the money in equal parts.

Please, a BA over 3, and more than 18 years. They are hard conditions, but I would like to find people who could understand how difficult and hard is the life, and I require a minimum of responsibility and compromise with the project.

Send a PM if you are interested.

Hello people

I'm looking for a musician interested in collaborate in the creation of 9 short loops(10-20 seconds) for 9 different micro-games. The micro-games' goal is to put in order the words of a poem. Since the game is still in alpha state the words temporally used are words from popular old song that would be replaced.

Here you will find a video with the 9 games being played.

The game is a lot faster than you can see in the video, the video capture makes it slow.

If the game get sponsored the money will be split in 3 parts (34% for developer, 33% for the graphic artist, 33% for the musician). The musician and the artist will appear in the game credits.

If you are interest in the project please send me a private message or email.

It's interesting idea that the works could be translated to several languages, but the main problem is that the most of the people when work in their Flash productions doesn't see any revenue from the translation to the game to other languages, even the most part of the works are made by art passion in animation or games, not by money. Also, usually the artist hate the translation stuff, because usually it doesn't have anything to do with the art, it's only a waste of time for a artist to translate for free.

Finally, I think that everybody must learn a common universal language(english) and to make these translations won't help the people to learn it ( I'm spanish, so english it's not my natural language and unfortunately I make a lot of mistakes)

Yeah, maybe. OK, you can submit games that have been made before this as long as it hasn't been released on the internet.

Well, I wasn't talking about myself, I was talking about the people who could join to this collab. Also it could be interesting to include short movies instead of games if the 10 left slots of the menu must be filled. Because I see that it would be really difficult to reach that number of games, unless the collab finish on December of 2008 (I know that we are on 2007, it's not a mistake).
