Wow, that kid is a moron. I use Piano Roll for everything. MIDI (Rarely) to get a piece of a certain melody and modify it completely to form my own. I am gonna learn how to play piano. That reminds me, Gotta upload some stuff to the Audio Portal! I have a friend who makes 90's old school hip-hop beats (boom-bap) and he does not even use piano roll. Like it even matters honestly. I own a microphone and FL Studio. Thats it. You don't need expensive or professional equipment to make music. All you need is some creativity, patience and anything can be made. Don't let him mess with you like that.
