Well, I wouldn't do that because it's not so much a personal opionion as, untruthfully giving compliments. Contructive criticism is always good because it teaches the author how to improve his future movies and/or games.
But then again don't go right up and point out only the bad things on a slightly good submission, tell them what they did right.
And I do agree that the worst of reviews are written by people who don't animate, and it's a shame that most of the normal Newgrounds population is shunned for it. It's not about pitty points it's about knowing what kind of quality can be expected at what level, and at what level is this appropriate for the portal. But without those harsh-voters there would be plenty more useless crap taking up space.
Then again we need those who are light-voters to give those slightly good submissions in to fill the portal with good stuff to fill anyone's viewing needs.
Spyware is mostly a type of software installed on your computer without your consent, it may spy on your e-mail address (sending you unwanted spam) or install pointless toolbars. I find that most of them spawn pop-ups. For more information I suggest dowloading "adaware". Just google it, it's a freeware designed to search and destroy spyware, and it also tell you what a certain type of spyware does to your computer (Double click on name).
I'm not saying everones review skills suck it's just that while skimming along this site I've noticed quite a few reviews that were lacking in quality. I decided to write a quick easy 5-step guide to hopefully improve said review quality.
Step 1)
Read Section 3 of the flash portal faq, Review Guidelines. They were written by the admins and you are expected to follow them, a few of these guidelines will be re-explained in the next 4 steps.
Step 2)
Do your best not to make spelling errors or use stupid abbriviations such as, "WTF???/ STFU N00B!!!!!11 J00 SUCKZ0RZ", I highly recommend this because it is not only more readable by the author and your fellow NG users but it also makes you look smart and respectible, and of course people you are smart and respectible are always smart and respected.
Step 3)
If you don't have something useful to say, don't say it. Pointless reviews just to raise your numbers make you look bad, watch the submission and write about things you liked or didn't like. Don't write in things like "YOU SUCK!" or "MORE PORN". Write something like in this example:
The graphics were horrible, you really need to practice a bit more, although I must admit It was very funny and original. The music fit in perfectly but was kind of fuzzy. Great preloader!
It's a true honest opinion telling the author what the user liked and/or disliked. This is what is most helpful to NGs animators, old or new, great or bad.
Step 4)
KISS
Keep
It
Simple,
Stupid
Avoid writing pointless information or questions, this may or may not make you look smart, or be somewhat on topic. But really the authors just want to know what you thought about thier movie, not someone else's. Just remember to keep your points plain and simple.
Final Step
Cheat sheets, walkthroughs, or anything of the like is a definete no-no. If any review had to be the most annoying it would be the one that some idiot decided to give away some super secret button or the secret "All characters" cheat in a review. There's a section in the forums if you want to tell about secrets or show walkthoughs, use it. Leave those who want to figure it out by themselves be and let the author release said codes and secrets at his/her own descrestion.

the server capasity yak-yak you are talking about is just bullshit. It is the NG database that saves all the entries. But the bandwith is the one that strains much. And the greatest strain comes from the top 50. Wanna remove those? Crap entries suriving dosn't mean a shit. They'r a drop in the ocean. If you don't know what bandwiht is, go here:

My point is that (if you ever paid attention) the bandwidth is not that much of a problem. But yes they also need to get frequent bandwidth upgrades because the Newgrounds populace is growing. But if your not smart enough to know the server is the different things that would run the site! like the database!
Server problems mean website problems.

OK listen up! Newgrounds is a sever of great flash movies. Keyword great! If it aint good it dosen't deserve to be on newgrounds. This new system is not to save entries. Its to stop the pointless crap that nobody with any sense of logic/humor likes but somehow is perminatly on the server from being protected. Newgrounds gets about 30-50 protected entries a day. Mutiply that by how long newgrounds has been here. It doesn't quite fit on the sever very well.
