The Mayans didn't have a plan to save us, but Jesus Christ dose. Oh, and I already know that like fifty people are guna tell me not to make this a religious thread and to go to hell are something like that. Because most people are cruel on NG. Im just saying if you dont want your children are you to suffer just try it. PM me for advice (you probably wont but Im just giving people an option.)

Talking about the bible? That was a good book, but the ending was a bit unrealistic imo. Still, its number on the bestseller's list, and fiction will be fiction.

Posted: 07/08/08 12:04 AM

Forum: Politics

Fuck yeah absolutes! But really, Conservatives recognize that there will always be change in the world, but they don't go ahead making radical policies at the spur of the moment. One who just has change for the sake of change is doomed to failure. You need to know what works well with your government, and what has not worked well. You also have to observe the founding principles of which your country was built on. You should not make too many changes that would differ from those basic principles. Too promising and vague a word "change" is. People will, for the most part, always think that things can be better, because things always CAN be better. However, this hopefulness leads to people believing that all change is good change. Recall another famous democrat who was obsessed with "change". Jimmy Carter. He sure did "change" a ton of things, like changing our well working foreign policy, and gave up the rights to the panama canal, which we built ourselves. This "change" harmed us, and it is but one of many examples of what happens when you have change for the sake of change. Notice the example of Obama. He promises Change, and he mentions what he wants Change in, but he never really talks at detail the specifics of the "change" he will make. This is reckless and foolish. Yet change is such a poison-filled word, offering hope while neglecting any knowledge. Many people cling on to this hope, and what appears like a life boat may well be an anchor. So is it illogical to not be hasty about change? I think, given the examples in the past, that it is only logical to NOT be hasty about it. Change is like the element of sodium, handle it carelessly and it will explode. But, taking the proper time and precautions, like the conservatives do, it can become an improvement to the quality of human life.

As long as it's done humanly that's the best animal rights people can hope for. It's the same with humans in my view. If someone dies, we all hope that it's a painless death. No one, animal or human should suffer in their final moments.
So why is it so unjust to kill this animal one way, yet everyone can legally buy a can of Raid and go around spraying as many insects as they like whilst I have to watch them spasm and painfully die a slow, choking death.

Who are we to judge which creature deserves to live over another? If we accept that these creatures have feelings and don't deserve to suffer then what about fish, or insects, or plants? I don't see where it will end, but playing God and saying this animal deserves to live but this one doesn't usually just because one's bigger or cuter isn't right to me.

Hold it. We, as humans, attach values to different animals. In no way do ants help us, we kill them because they are pests, and thus harmful to us. Now, animals that are helpful to us, like those with fur, we are inclined to like, thus wishing them a painless death. In iraq, dogs are killed due to being pests to them. We are sickened by how animals that provide us with something, like fur, are being cruelly killed. We like most animals due to what they provide us with, and thats a fact.

Also making our tools of living more efficient couldn't hurt.

Well, altering a natural process may have bad effects, so no, if GW is natural, we should not tamper with it.
And of course making tools of living better won't hurt, it would cause us to get more bang for our buck.

Who knows. I'm assuming that neither one got tested before... until he got sick.
As for me... I regularly test myself, and if I'm in a relationship... I force the other get tested too

See? It shouldn't be a shock that you didn't get and he did, you took the precautions, he didn't.

But I've been wanting to be on a trial for Truvada, a new HIV/AIDS drug which may possibly have some use in preventing infections. It's on trial and I've put my name in it, but they haven't called me. This is in the Bay Area, and the qualifications are: Male between 21 to 50. Sexually active. Gay.

Thats you all right.

But... this stuff is poison, really. It does stuff to your body like... give you a hunch back and makes the fat in your legs disappear. Makes you moody, and you'll have stomach cramps and digestive problems.

But if this drug is a key to prevention, I'll take it. Better to take it when I'm not infected than take it when I'm infected, right?

Depends if the side effects can outdo the good. On one hand, HIV tests take a while to get back. On the other hand, you could have a totally bad reaction to this drug. Research as much as possible before you do.

Anyways, I believe the welfare status at the moment is what's causing some of the homelessness. Yesterday, I saw a woman buy a shitload of useless junk, and she paid for it with food stamps. Without some of the welfare I feel more people will be encouraged to get jobs, thus reducing the level of homelessness a tad.

Well, yes it IS happening, but the big question is is it manmade, and is it natural. Remember, the "little Ice age era" ended about 10 decades ago, so the warming of the earth may in fact be a natural process. And Al Gore is far from brilliant, if anything he is a glorified mouth piece for those scientists who believe in global warming.

We all know that Global warming is a tad bit overblown. However, one thing I was shocked to find out is that Al Gore calls ANYONE who differs from his global warming idea a "denier". I learned this recently, after my uncle got me a book called "The Deniers", by Lawrence Solomon. The book gives a list of people Mr. Gore calls the deniers, and the most interesting part of it is that the deniers are actually pretty credible scientists. I find it odd that these people are called the deniers, shouldn't they at least have the dignity of being called skeptics?
