I emailed him, but no reply. Guess it won't make it to the portal.

Anyway, I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining, and I am being patient. I did reread my post and it did sound a bit complain-y so I am sorry.

So, sorry again. . .

Dude, that wasn't meant for you. Your post was fine and not whiny. I meant it as a general broadcast, a message to everybody. Sorry for the mix up buddy.

From what I've heard, they're backed up to about two weeks. I've been waiting about two and heif. They're doing us a service, we can do them one by not complaining.

They really are backed up, huh? Hey, after your first approval, is that permanent, or will I have to wait for my next song to be approved as well?

I had a poke around, and, to be honest, it seemed somewhat of an unperfessional fan thing and I couldn't find a page of legalese, so I suggest you contact the author directly.

In order to use the material from that site on NG, the audio needs to satisfy one of the following conditions:

- The audio is public domain and license free. This means the author has released all copyright of the track to the public.

- The audio uses a Creative Commons license that is exactly compatible with the Newgrounds AP license. The AP license is outlined here.

- The author gives you special permission to release the track under a Newgrounds license.

Thanks my friend. I'll see if I can get in contact with him and get his permission. Once his permission is obtained, do I need a disclaimer anywhere on my track for Newgrounds' purposes? Like I said, I love the AP, a ban would destroy me lol.

Here's the link to the site;

Here's a link to the download page;
http://www.guitarbt.com/index.php?page=d l_info&cat=Iron%20Maiden&file=Iron%20Mai den%20-%20The%20Trooper&ext=mp3

The track is in the background of the entire song, it's the drumline. If it is needed, I can post the song for you guys to listen to/tell me what you think.

My thing is, I love the AP. I don't want to do anything bannable. I think my take on the song is cool, but not cool enough to stop me from posting my original stuff.

Clarification Posted February 15th, 2010 in Audio

I'm wanting to check something before I send a song through the portal. I downloaded the backing track to Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" from GuitarBT.com , and I was wanting to know if it would be bannable to post a song including it in it. GuitarBT is a backing track site where users create and share tracks to practice and jam with. I don't want to break any rules, so I wanted clarification on if this is cool or not.

In the track, all the guitars and vox are me, so it's not just the sample.

I've been waiting for approval since Saturday, and I cannot wait to get my stuff in the portal. The anticipation is killing me lol.

Response to: Any Bands In These Forums? Posted February 8th, 2010 in Audio

I'm hoping to start up a band, and post to newgrounds, in fact I'm waiting for approval of one of my band's jam sessions. I work solo most of the time, but the band dynamic really adds to the music.

Response to: The Audio Forum Lounge Posted February 8th, 2010 in Audio

I'm new here, and I posted a song to the portal on Saturday. Does anyone have an average on how long it takes for a mod to approve it? I know it's my song, but a part of me worries that someone thought it was a ripoff lol. I know this is a noob question, and I'm sorry to take your time, I was just wanting to know about how long it takes. Thanks guys.

Response to: Problem Posted February 6th, 2010 in Audio

If you dont have full licensing to the song, you CANNOT post it on the audio portal. Period. If it's m4a I presume you downloaded from itunes or something. It has to be your song, sorry bro.

Otherwise try using a search engine before making us take our time to help you. There are hundreds of audio converters online. Just search google.

It's my song, I recorded with a friend on his recording equipment. I used the google machine, but I couldn't find anything, so I decided to see if anyone had encountered the problem and knew a fix

Song I wrote many moons ago Posted February 6th, 2010 in Writing

I wrote this a long time back and just recovered it from a notebook. It seems like a wall of text, but it's not too long when you read it. Let me know if this is any good, if it is I'll try and write music for it and post it to the ap. Thanks guys.

Verse 1:
/// Draw a picture in the snow / so that's the way the river flows / blow a candle, make the night dark / draw me closer through the flame / ousting of eternal pain / kind compassion / nagging your heels

Chorus:
Is this the way the river flows / is this the way our life goes / help me out here, help me out here / swim for the bank cut it close / swim for the bank not even close / just stop moving, can't stop moving //

Verse 2:
Time moves faster than we know / drifting further through the holes / the river's cold / my lips are trembling / keep on floating, to the sinking / where is it?, I'll never know / where's the end / embedded in my soul / just hear it close now, take a listen / it's your life that your missing

Chorus 2:
// is this the way life goes / follow their lead like a ghost / it's all, so cold / can't find the words, hard to say / left myself no way to repay / no way........./ You're the song I was missing / don't interrupt, no intermission / do I belong here?

Outro:
Is this the way, I don't know / we'll see how lonely they will grow / doesn't matter, doesn't matter / keep on going, keep on trying / while everyone keeps on dying / is it right? / a matter based on insight / let them lose it / doesn't matter, does it matter? / the river's long, hostile edges / keep on swimming through the questions / you and me / have a long way to eternity
