Well, first of all; it's NOT a preloader. It's an intro! And of some reason, NG have decided not to put it up under the "Download" section. By searching the BBS I found somewhere a link to it on some sort of RapidShare site.

Response to: sync Music Posted January 15th, 2008 in Game Development

Select the frame with the music on, then in the "Properties" menu, make its "Sync" to "Stream", that way, when you go between the frames, you can hear the sound/music, so it is easier to sync.

Response to: Flash effects Posted January 15th, 2008 in Game Development

Make them to a Movie Clip (MC) and then go to filters, where you can do all that sorts of stuff.
Unless you got an outdated Flash version, you need to draw them yourself.

If the latter: Sux2BU (Always wanted to say that :P)
Response to: Flash Artist Wanted Topimp My Game Posted January 15th, 2008 in Game Development

Really cool game, actually. And the share seems right, as the grapchis is only about 30-40% of the game. I would suggest you add the ability to move diagonal, or more like Snake controls.
It would also be nice to hear what kind of graphics you want? Robots (a bit like what you got), humans, drunk animals etc.

So HERE it is.
I made it in a few hours and went kinda lazy with using old graphics :P

I actually just recieved an assignment like that today!
Though I think mine will more be like a lecture of how Flash works, and what you can do with it... maybe it'll end up as a tutorial-like thingy... in that case I might submit it :)

Response to: Live Action Level Icons! Posted January 15th, 2008 in General

Hmm... We should make a NG meet, where we make a Live Action movie, based on a war between different Newgrounds users, who uses their level icons as weapons!! Could be epic... with Flash to make effects.

Response to: Sound playing in wrong scene Posted January 13th, 2008 in Game Development

Stop using scenes, I've heard a lot of people complaining over them. And scenes are also just there to organize your flash, like if you got way too many layers. And if you only got one layer on each scene, then you don't need them at all.
But if you really need to, then there seems so be something wrong as the streamed sound should play along with the frames.

...You make more frames.... Let's say you got a motion tween that lasts for 12 frames, and you think it's too fast, then make it 24 frames, but the same end position, then it goes slower, and smoother.
And ignore everyone saying "Just lower the fps (Frames Per Second)" then the movie will just end up choppy.

I'm not going to lie, I almost laughed out loud at the sheer audacity and naivety of this statement.

Yea, me too. If your friend claims he's a coder, then your REALLY naive! If you don't even know how to replace simple test instance names, with your own, then you need to study the subject for at least 247 years untill you can make something that people would even consider eligble for sponsoring!

Response to: Need tips for Sprite flash Posted January 11th, 2008 in Game Development

Trace the sprites in another file, then make them to a MC, and just cope-paste the movieclip into your movie.
If Flash then starts to lag, then either restart it, or (on the tracing file) delete all the sprites you have moved over to your main .fla etc.

Response to: Can Someone Help With Me Fbf Posted January 11th, 2008 in Game Development

Tip: Look at others stuff!! Very helpful :)
At flash movies (or... most of them) you can right-click, then press "forward" or "back" which will take you forward a frame, or backwards a frame, while pausing it! This way you can see others animations frame-by-frame :)

Response to: Orgin of your username? Posted January 9th, 2008 in General

I was playing Warcraft 3 with a 7-year olds username, with my countrys tag on it (DK) then someone mixed it up for being Death Knight.
Then I thought something along the lines:
Dennis Klyver (My name)
DenmarK (Country of origin)
Death Knight (...Sounds cool as a title :P)

At first I thought of DDDKKK, but after looking at it some times... It was a pain... So I came up with TripleDK!!

It doesn't Onion Skin, and then you can't make " a new frame or something because its is weird"... try resaying that so it makes sense, but if your onion skinning isn't working, here's a tip:

Make a layer that's under your working layer, copy - paste-in-place your last frame in it, then lock it. It's almost the same!
