iPod Agent is what I use. It works great. You can also put RSS feeds on your iPod with this. Too bad you have to pay now, I got it when it was free.

Have you tried downloading other ones to see if they are empty? I just downloaded some and they had a MP3 and a txt inside the zip. What is the name of the sound file you are trying to get?
