You've obviously used Flash, how in hell would it be possible to make animating easier? Fact is that Flash wan't made for animating, yes it's good at it, but that's not it's purpose. If all you do is animate with Flash, then I'd recomend Flash4 over MX. It had the best layout.

I do in fact know what I'm talking about, I know very well about doing it myself, and I am not a fan of software that "does it for you." And no, it is not necessary to go 3D to make improvements in character animation. Do you really want me to list off ALL the ways they could have improved it? It would be quite a list, and I don't think it's worth the time. Haven't you seen all the other 2D animation programs out there? You're quite right that Flash wasn't made for character animation, which was rather my point. I disagree about the Flash 4 interface, though. That was the first version I used, and I thought MX was a huge improvement.

I'm still using Flash 6 (MX). What have they done for character animation since then? Nothing.

Consider this another confirmation about the burning sensation in Lipton canned tea (never tried it bottled). I find it unpleasant, myself, and very unlemonlike. Similarly, vinegar-flavoured potato chips do not taste like vinegar.

Tom, much as I appreciate Cutethulhu being put on the front page after so long, and despite my note in the description field, many people are claiming I've resubmitted an old work and are thus leaving unfair reviews. Can you change the description of the front page link to mention it's an oldie, and not resubmitted?

Thanx, bud. That's the first time anyone's commented on any of my submissions in the P-bot post.

I responded to the e-mail you sent, to the return address in the e-mail. You didn't get it?

Boy, I'd sure like to know where that industry is, because I've never gotten that much, and I'm certainly not getting that much for this one. Ad agencies? Hollywood film CGI? That I could see.

I am not rich. I simply have a budget for this project.

And just so it's clear, when I say cel shading, I'm not talking about cel-shaded 3D animation. This animation is strictly 2D, and the shading in this case refers to the hand-drawn shadows and highlights on the characters.

Sketch_Michaels, from your portal submissions, it looks like you're a good artist, but the animation itself doesn't look like the sort of animation I need, of the ones I checked. Do you have any submissions that show more traditional frame-by-frame animation of yours?

Enter_Sandman, I'm afraid your samples are not at the level needed for this.

Again it is a little rough, but this time I had a 3 day deadline. I know that I can definately do better line quality, those movies were for fun. I'm really interested, I also need some kind of job,

I'll send you an e-mail.

And to Arctic, you may notice that I stated in the first message that I offer partial payment in advance.

And in terms of character animation, are you providing the characters, and how much of them? For example, are you going to give us a sketch and say go from here, or draw them out and say here's some storyboards, have at it, etc.

It is cel shading, and there will be some instances where lighting effects should play shadows across the characters' bodies. In that case, you would be provided with unshaded characters, and you would create the light and shadowplay on them. For the wind, it would be environmental, visible wind lines as well as clothing rippling, in a few shots.

As stated in the initial message, you would be provided with full model sheets. That means inked and coloured poses and angles of the characters. That is in addition to the storyboards, soundtrack, and scripts. Please read my messages thoroughly. If your interest is only in the effects, then you would also be provided with otherwise completed animation in need of effects. The shading would already be done except in cases where the effect is in the lighting.

I'm not looking for 3D samples. Both the character animation and the effects should be 2D, hand animated.

or specifically the flash section, flash.goofygarber.net

I specifically need wind, smoke, light/shadow, and energy effects. For the effects animator, I will be providing the character animation or backdrops that need effects, and the effects animator will create effects around this art or animation.

The effects do not have to be in Flash, as the final product will not be in Flash. Hand-animated effects are preferred in this case.

I wasn't able to find effects of that sort at the URLs you listed. Please list direct URLs if you have something of that sort.

Need several character animators, and 1 special effects animator (wind, smoke, light/shadow, energy effects).

Payment is $100 per 10 seconds of animation. Must be able to work fast and match existing anime character designs. Model sheets, scripts, storyboards, audio track, and guidelines will be provided. No motion tweening allowed.

Work as much or as little as you like: as little as a single 10-second shot, or keep taking on new segments as you complete the previous ones, for the duration of the project (2 months). Stop any time. You will be paid via Paypal or check. If by Paypal, you can have partial payment in advance, and the rest upon delivery of the segment you're working on (via e-mail).

More details will be sent directly to those who qualify. I will select from the qualifying applicants in about a week.

Respond here with links to samples of your work, or e-mail me at grounds@pinklemonade.org. No attachments, please. Experienced and serious animators only. Let your samples speak for themselves. Samples do not need to be anime-style, but if you can't match an anime character design, do not apply.

Excellent. This one doesn't scroll slowly like the previous one. And it's nice-looking.
